HoosierCat
Was just browsing through all the game recaps and saw that Jerome Bettis left the game vs. DC last night with a calf injury of some sort and is set to have an MRI today.Wow. Staley is still rehabbing a knee injury and Big Ben has been Big Blow this preseason: 14 for 30 for 121 yards, 2 picks, no TDs, and an overall QB rating of 30.0.Cowher had their 3rd strong back in for a while against DC but said after the game he may not play again until the opener. Uh-oh. If Bettis is out more than one of my fantasy teams is in just as much trouble!Without the threat of a running game I doubt Bens numbers will improve. Stripes
It's good to see the rest of the North struggling along with us. Dare I say the best looking team in our division as of yet has been *shudder* the Cleveland Browns?

Dare I say the best looking team in our division as of yet has been *shudder* the Cleveland Browns? In terms of their passing game, yes. But Balti's D is still a force, even if it isn't what it was five years ago, and though Boller can't throw worth crap, who needs to when either Jamal or Taylor can run for 180 yards a game?So far this preseason, the Ravens look like the team to beat in the AFCN. Who?
It's good to see the rest of the North struggling along with us. Dare I say the best looking team in our division as of yet has been *shudder* the Cleveland Browns? I have noticed that we have been looking the best in the AFC North so far, I think we will surprise a few teams this year. Other than that, I see the Ravens taking the division this year (Ewwwwww!). redsbengalsbucks
For the Ravens to win Boller has to step it up, even the jailbird cant run with 9 in the box, and that is what will happen in the regular season if Boller still blows. HoosierCat
http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/PIT/8779227Per the latest (above) the results of the MRI will be announced tomorrow. That doesn't sound promising. Story says even a minor injury could mean Bettis misses at least the opener.
membengal
Pitt and Baltimore have def had as many questions arise as Bengals have had this preseason. And, by the way, without Terrell Owens, Philly absolutely strafed that Baltimore D on the road in preseason week 2, so I am not entirely sure I am ready annoint them just yet either. bengalindian
Billy, I hope Bettis is a backup on your fantasy team, otherwise it already sucks!
rizzy
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-r...=yhoo&type=lgnsJust another article talking about the steelers playing so bad. Without any RBs they are going to be horrible on offense. Good ol big ben didn't do crap on offense last year all he had to do was hand it off and the rest was taken care of. It is all up to the D for them to win games until there running game returns.

ESPN report today that Jailall Lewis' ankle isn't up to snuff either. Same type of injury that Curt Schilling had / has and is being blamed for his less than usual performance. That would be a very bad blow for both of these teams to be without their starting running backs. Turi
Yeah I'm worried that our offense just isn't rolling it isn't gelling but luckily our defense is. Big Ben's looked poor and we've got a wee crisis at RB. I like our back ups in Willie Parker and Veron Haynes and they've done well when we've used them. Parkers best experience was last seasons final game against a Bills team that desperately needed to win to reach the playoffs. He ran for over 100 then, he's done well this preseason and I hope he can do it again this season because if Ben's throwing the ball we're causing turnovers. Oh, sorry - you meant against teams with *real* run defenses! In that case, I concur.
semiotter
Hey guys this is not the same STEELERS team that won 15 games last year. They dont have PLAXICO BURRESS and KENDRELL BELL. Plus with the injurys to the running backs ,they may suffer a little. But PITT. always seems to do some kind of magic and win, win, win....So dont count them out just yet. I know no one is saying that but watch em........ :player:

If being in jail didn't take too much out of Lewis, they'll be good. I'm more interested in seeing how much Ray has left in the tank - it better be a lot, since they've keyed their shiny new 46 defense around him. Stripes
AFC North QB play ranked as of this preseason.1.) Trent Dilfer2.) Carson Palmer3.) Kyle Boller4.) Ben RoethlisbergerI have a sneaking suspicion that no real information can be derived from this...
Who?
Trent Dilfer has surprised me tons so far, his decision making is really good, stupid mistakes have been killing Big Ben as of late.

HoosierCat
Big Ben = Big Bum? Questions linger...from the report on the Steelers/Panthers preseason finale...The Pittsburgh Steelers weren't nearly as pleased, unsatisfied after Thursday night's 21-17 preseason victory over the Panthers because the first-team offense continued to struggle. But Ben Roethlisberger, who was once again out of sync and failed to lead the first-team offense to a single touchdown this preseason, was adamant the Steelers will get it worked out.``I've told you 100 times, I'm not concerned yet. I'll let you know when I am and I don't think that is going to happen,'' he said after going 2-of-6 for 24 yards in just over one quarter of play.``We haven't run a lot of plays that fit me, like getting out of the pocket.''Nothing seemed to fit Roethlisberger against the Panthers, who sacked him once and constantly pressured him. He led the Steelers to just one first down, and had no rhythm with his receivers -- either throwing short of them, or over their heads on his attempts. JPW
``We haven't run a lot of plays that fit me, like getting out of the pocket.'' I think that everybody has learned that the way to stop Roethlisberger is to simply not allow him to roll out to his right. If you keep him in the pocket or force him to roll out to his left he is not nearly as effective. rizzy
It's a good thing they have a great defense, but the defense can only win so many games for them. I have a feeling they will be calling for Roths head after this season.
