schweinhart
Here's one old Bengal who just won't fade away.At the rate Bears QBs get knocked out of commission, Blake could end up starting at some point if he sticks through camp.http://chicagobears.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=9848
Ickey44
And Hutchinson is still gonna be the starter. I don't know what Lovie's doing up there.......
Stripes
I agree with Hutchinson starting now, but I bet Blake will get his share of playing time. Keep your eyes on Kyle Orton, he could've been a steal.
Ickey44
If it were the regular season, I'd agree too. But given that they have a month before the season begins, I would try like hell to get Blake ready. I'd go with Blake over Hutchinson anyday. Who?
Orton, Orton, Orton, Orton, Orton!
bengalboomer7
Since we do play the Bears, I would much rather see Orton or Hutchinson, instead of Jeff Blake.
Who?
Hutchinson is terrible.. Orton was a steal in the draft, let the man play!
ArmyBengal
I'm thinking they need to take their lumps with Orton... I never thought much of Grossman anyway.WHODEY !!!
BengalszoneBilly
Ahh yes. I remember Mr. Blake:Anyone here have a cure for that?
semiotter
Jeff Blake RULES HE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ickey44
Jeff Blake was never a bad quarterback when he was here. He was no Esiason, but he was good enough to make back to back Pro Bowls in '95 and '96. I think everyone would've rather kept him than draft Akili. ackley1
for the second straight year every bear qb will get his chance to play. i think it's gonna be another tough year with horrindous offense.
schweinhart
Yeah, the Bears might need 16 QBs this year -- 1 for each game Still, they don't need to have much of a QB to give the Bengals problems in week 3 if the run D can't stop Thomas Jones or Benson (if he's signed by then). In watching some of the Bears pre-season, I've noticed that Mark Bradley is an even better looking WR than he was in college. The guy is a sharp route runner who is brutally quick and positions himself well for YAC. I'd be real surprised if he's not the 2nd WR by regular season. O'Neal can proly hang with him in man, but James would need help. Muhammad creates a height mismatch w/ O'Neal but O'Neal should be able to recover if he's got to deal w/ him. Regardless, I hope to see Muhammad across from James and O'Neal on Bradley for most of the game. The Bengals pass rush should be able to cause some problems for whoever is QB, especially w/ Justin at LDE. HoosierCat
Well, if the Bears want to make Tim Couch one of those 16 QBs they had better hurry up.The NY Post says that the Giants are looking at adding Couch (realizing that their backups stink).Oh, yeah...I'm sure that'll go over big with Eli... JPW
Orton, Orton, Orton, Orton, Orton!I have been wondering, any Brown's fans thinking that maybe you should have drafted Orton instead of Frye ?
DC_Bengals_Fan
The Bengals pass rush should be able to cause some problems for whoever is QB, especially w/ Justin at LDE.I should say! There's a reason Da Bears keep losing QBs. Their pass blocking - either the schemes or the talent, or both - are horrible. That play where Grossman got hurt last week, I'm still cringing.Given all that, Smith should be able to tee off on whatever poor soul they put back behind center. Ox
I have actually heard whispers about how much Lovie would LOVE to get his hands on J Kitna. Actually, the guys on NFL radio on Sirius said that there is no way da bears could wrestle Johnnie from us. They mentioned that management would need A LOT in return to trade Kitna, but the bears might be willing to sacrifice, if Hutchinson falls through this year. schweinhart
Kitna, hell -- Lovie would proly give up a Day 1 pick to get Krenzel back at this point.
semiotter
I got a gut feeling that Jeff is going to have a heck of a year!!! Auuuh wait a minute he is playing for the Bears ,weren't they the worst OFF. in the leauge last year.
rizzy
Da bears have named Orton the starting QB now. How long will he last at the QB position for them, 1 game, 2 games, the whole season.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/foot...s.ap/index.html
