It's pretty hard to get yourself into top shape while recovering from a hernia...

Have you had one? I have and the doc said don't lift anything over 60lbs. I would think one could stay in some what of shape (cardiovascular).

However, I would guess it depends on the severaity of the hernia.

I'm just dissapointed that Perry is in the same deal as he was last year, thats all.

There is a big difference between shape to you, and shape to an NFL football player. Nice try with this post though man, but you are reaching, and everyone knows it.

Oh, and I'd also like to add a key word:

DOUBLE

As in, Double Hernia.

More than one, plural. Both sides of the abdomen.

First things first, congrats to Oxstud. I sure hope you didn't get married just because I called you a fag that day. I was in a mood and was calling everyone that.

Next, like the pick or not, Perry's return is a positive. I'd like to see them move forward cautiously, but the biggest hurdle he has to overcome right now seems to be one of conditioning. That'll come.

Last, I'd like to remind those who limit discussions about his durabilty that my concerns were never limited to a single injury. We're talking about hamstring, hernia, wrist, the discovery of the second hernia, and finally...a slower rehab than many expected. That's a laundry list and it goes a very long way toward explaining why some doubts remain. But I'm pulling for the guy.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I did get married because I was called a fag. Take that! :P

Ok now that I can keep my eyes open and have been sufficiently hydrated, I will tell my story.

Tanya and I (Kerry) stayed at the GR Solaris in Cancun Mexico last week. It is one of those all inclusive deals that pay for everything (alchy, food, alchy, room and board, alchy...you get the picture). At any rate, down by the swim up bar, I met a large black man who introduced himself Ray. Others called him Willis for some reason. Dunno if it is a nickname or what. He saw my Bengals hat I was wearing, and we started discussing Cinci.

He told me Chris Perry was his brother. I said bullsh*t. He then went on to relate his whole family history and told of his mom's fight w/ cancer. So at this point he seemed pretty honest. Said he was down here on vacation w/ his gf-fiance.

He told me not to expect Chris to play, b/c he is hurt worse this time than he was last year. Said he's been practicing just to see if he can get a few people off his back, especially the ones with the big mouths. Chris is not trying to be a bust, but the kid can't get healthy. He said that he truely feels bad about being paid and not earning any of it, but there's not alot he can do about the situation. I told him we are all waiting to see if he is as good as he was in the navy and yellow.

Bottom line is that for us Bengal fans to not get to excited this year b/c he doubts his bro will be on the field any time soon. This is coming from his own bro's piehole.

It also is coming from a man who had 6 Jose shot's before the conversation took place. :o:o:D

Take it for what it's worth, but seemed like an honest guy to me. I hope that Perry is in better shape than Ray seemed to think, but time will tell I guess.

According to Curnutte's Blog Perry was held out of practice today after experiencing swelling and discomfort in his groin area where his surgery occurred.

So Perry's bro seems to be right on the money.

Sounds like Perry should be held out of all action until he's 100% and Quincy Wilson should get more time.

<shrug> Given that we're talking about a part of his body he hasn't put through its paces in months, well, I'd expect a few complaints. See how it goes. Anyone know if he was in on this evening's practice?

Thanks for the info, ox. PS: the Ray/Willis thing could be a family thing. Perry's dad was named Raymond, and Perry's full name is Raymond Christopher Perry. So -- assuming the guy was actually Chris' bro -- his dad could have had one of those "George Foreman" naming things going on.

First, I'm guessing that if Tanya is willing you could post a picture or two and in the process gain entrance into the Boobiemeister club. That way we could all share in your happiness.

Besides, I hear they're giving out free hats.

That said, I'm not sure what to make out of the story. It's interesting. It's weird. It's all highly unlikey and yet quite plausible. Frankly, after reading each update on Perry I've found it's sorta like riding the coaster at Disneyland. You know you're going to go up and down alot but mostly you hope you don't get rear ended.

Last, I feel very bad that I called you a fag, and even worse that I have to mention now that you spent your honeymoon getting drunk in the pool with a..."large black man".

Chris Perry`s first name is Raymond and he doesn`t have a brother...

New Bengal guided by loving parents

RB's career has taken winding path

By Mark Curnutte

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Four family members and a friend accompanied Chris Perry to Paul Brown Stadium on Sunday for his introduction to the Cincinnati media.

It was an altogether appropriate scene that Perry's mother, father, grandmother and uncle were seated in the front row of the Bengals' interview room for his 10:30 a.m. press conference.

Perry wouldn't have been there himself without them. "I don't think I was the easiest child to raise, but it all turned out good," said Perry, the Michigan running back drafted in the first round Saturday.

Though his parents, Raymond and Irene Egerton Perry, divorced in 1990 when Chris was 9, they put aside their differences to make sure he and his younger sister were taken care of.

Well I guess what I was told was bullsh*t if that is true. All I know is the dude seemed pretty sincere to me. I guess it wouldn't be hard to lie to someone when you're in another country and you're pretty knowledgeable. :(

Sorry if I have posted bullsh*t!

'tis ok hair. I have tried to take pics of those boobs with a cell phone once and that didn't work out very well. :o

I am starting to feel I should have kept my experience to myself after hearing the cries of bullsh*t go up, but I was so damned excited that I may have had inside info that I couldn't wait to post it.

Now I kinda feel like a jacka** though....

You aren't. It isn't like you posted this as fact, just rumor over shooters at some resort bar.

Question is, how many shots did you buy him while he was spinning his tale? ;)

It was all inclusive, so all shots and beer were free! Watered down, yes, but free!. I dunno how many we had chillin' in the pool, but I know I knocked back at least 6 Cuervo's before we went outside. They water down the alchohol there, I guess because it is so freakin hot. Most the time you'll need to get a double to equal one shot here in the states.

And the reasons for not liking the Perry pick continue. I still could have sworn they said Chris "GAMBLE" not "PERRY". Did anyone else hear that ?? Grrrrrr...

WHODEY !!!

Bad picks don't get better !! You either take the best available running back or you don't and suffer the consiquences of the pick.

I too would have been happy with Chris Gamble, of course there were about another 20 other players I would have been happy to get in that spot as well. :player:

Absolutely.

Steven Jackson or Kevin Jones would look great about in stripes IMHO.

Better yet Darnell Dockett

Kevin Jones - yes, Julius Jones - yes but Steven Jackson - no. His upright running style is not conducive to our division. I watched him several times last season because I was initially of the same opinion as you but I came away very unimpressed. I think he fits well in the wide-open offense at StL but not here. He wouldnt survive aginst Pitt or Balt; plus I have read a lot of reports concerning his knees being questionable.

I was not crazy about the Perry pick but I am withholding judgement until I see what he can actually do on the football field. Anyone can get hurt, I dont think you can label them a bust based on injury, bad luck [typical Bengal style], but not a bust.

I agree. As far as I'm concerned you said it all when you added the parts about taking it for what it's worth....the booze involved....and the fact that the guy introduced himself using a name that nobody in his group was addressing him by.

And I don't think we need to start apologizing for posting stuff that could be bulls**te.....'cause that's what we all do in one form or another.

Ha! I pimped that guys so hard on the other board that I was embarrasssed when I saw how far he fell on draft day. Then the whistles blew and almost immediately he played exactly like the player I coveted. If he can stay out of trouble he's going to get better and better.

That said, I just read where the Cards finally cut Wendell Bryant, a guy I really liked once. Not really sure what happened there since there's been almost no reason to watch Cardinal football until recently.

No need to be embrassed Hair.

Dockett went where Perry should've -- 1st pick of 3rd rd.

I don't know why teams let a little thing like clinical insanity stand in the way of making personnel decisions. Dockett was relentless and ruthless in college. Plus he's got arms the size of legs and genuinely looks like he is trying to detach someone's helmet with the head still inside. Why, all the things I think should be coveted in a DT. Sure would be nice to have one like that, eh?

Kevin Jones and Julius Jones are good running backs in their systems, But can Kevin Jones take the pounding of the AFC North? Can Julius Jones take the pounding of the AFC North?

Nothing against those guys but the Bengals running game is not the strength of those backs. I think J. Jones could fit a letter better than K. Jones, but not much

Put me in the "there's no need to rush with Perry" camp. Slow walk him this year since you have Rudi and Watson.

The irony is that in 2003 and 2004 we were OK with our first round picks not playing. We had Kitna and Rudi.

Now we need our first two guys to start right away and we can't get a deal done. Dammmm.

IIRC all of the 1st and 2nd rder RBs in the 2004 were injured last year and missed chunks of the season -- Jackson early on, Kevin and Julius Jones from the start, Tatum Bell in the middle of the year. Except for Greg Jones and he really didn't play much.

You got to remember too, at the time of the draft any consideration of drafting RB in the 1st by the Bengals had to be centered around the versatility of the player to run and catch -- an all-downs back who is as much a threat to carry as catch. That in itself entails more spread than the power I run Rudi right plan now.

If it came down to matching the runner with the division and keep a down-your-throat mentality, then it proly would've made more sense for the Bengals to go after Greg Jones even though he lacks the speed/power combo of Jamal, the nimble feet that the Bus once had, or the balance after contact that Duce has.

But above and beyond was the factor of team need and the availability of impact players on D in the 1st rd. Why draft an RB period then when a Mewelde Moore or Micheal Turner could've been picked up in Day 2. Look at the roster now for the Bengals -- a 4th rder starts and an undrafted rookie free agent who was a WR in college is the 3rd down back. I'm skeptical of any 1st rd RB pick unless it's as much as a no-brainer as a pick like Jamal was.
