walzav29 Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Just throw out those 2 stupid clauses. The 100% attendance and the stupid "don't say anything bad" clauses are responsible for these holdouts, and I just don't get how we are now getting consistent 2nd round holdouts. 2ND ROUND!!!!!!!!!!! That's ridiculous. Does camp start today? A F'n 4th rounder is not going to be in on time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the F is going on. I HATE this crap. Every year!!!!!! SUCKSUCKSUCKSCCSUCKSUCK! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 The 100% attendance and the stupid "don't say anything bad" clauses are responsible for these holdouts. Where did you read the clauses were the reason ?? Not trying to be stupid with you, just curious...WHODEY !!! Quote
walzav29 Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 I haven't read it anywhere. That's just frustrated speculation on my part. Quote

NJ29 Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 .... Pollack is NOT "holding out". His deal is just taking longer to get done. None of our picks are stating that they don't want to go to camp because they aren't being offered enough money. This is all all do to the fact that the organization got started late. If on anybody, it's on the team for not starting to sign picks early enough. Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Neither the "loyalty clause" nor the performance clause are at issue. The problem this year is simply the slow pace of signings; the "slots" have not yet been well-established. And knowing the Bengals' paranoia about "overpaying," they will likely wait until the players signed before and after Pollack are on board with their teams before they sign him. Ditto Thurman. Quote
Kirkendall Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Now that Alex Smith is signed, setting the presidence for everyone else, we should see tons more first round pick signings. Quote
Stripes Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Sure, they aren't holding out,but it is still a problem worthy of note if the signing takes longer than expected, if that spills into training camp a little. I want all the picks ready to go the moment camp opens, and if that doesn't occur, it is an issue, albeit a small one. Quote
walzav29 Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 I'm confused. What's it called when a guy isn't in camp, but isn't holding out? Quote
The_Next_Big_Thing Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 I'm confused. What's it called when a guy isn't in camp, but isn't holding out? There's a fine line between still working on a deal because the slotting info that both ownership and agents use to come together on a deal isn't there yet and holding out. Holding out is when the player rejects the owners deal and says I'm not coming until you give me more. What we have happening here is an odd year because of the CBA issue coming together with a slow start by the first several picks signing slowing things up. Wait till next year, if there's still no CBA it will be even worse. Quote
AMC Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Now that Alex Smith is signed, setting the presidence for everyone else, we should see tons more first round pick signings. This is all the 49ers fault. They should have taken a page out of the Bengals book and looked at how we signed Carson. The agents are so worried that someone below them will get more money that they have to wait...They should just go off last year and add a percentage from that corresponding pick. Plus what the Niners gave Alex Smith was an idiotic move. That will hold back that organization in future years. Quote
walzav29 Posted July 28, 2005 Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 Call it whatever you want, but it sucks if they aren't in camp. Bottom line. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 I'm confused. What's it called when a guy isn't in camp, but isn't holding out? His greedy-ass, contract complicating, low life agents fault. Quote
StripesNTn Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 A. Smith and niners are at fualt for taking so long. Chill they will all get to camp, couple days late maybe, but they will be there. Quote
redsbengalsbucks Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 The Patriots, the most successful team in recent past has all of their draft picks signed and in camp. I wish the Bengals would follow suit. Quote
HairOnFire Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 I haven't read it anywhere. That's just frustrated speculation on my part. Do what I do. Remind yourself that a holdout of just a few days won't matter a bit. Then remind yourself that the Ravens and Steeler camps don't open until the 31st. Fuzzy match can be your friend. Quote
jditty47 Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 thurman's problem is that in years past most players got 4 yr contracts...this year the trend is for 5 years and he wants 4... Quote
ArmyBengal Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 Now that Alex Smith is signed, setting the presidence for everyone else, we should see tons more first round pick signings. That is the train of thought, but it hasn't happened yet. I'm thinking it might be the 20% increase from last years first pick. Stupid 49er's...WHODEY !!! Quote
Kazkal Posted July 28, 2005 Report Posted July 28, 2005 The Patriots, the most successful team in recent past has all of their draft picks signed and in camp. I wish the Bengals would follow suit. Because they are signing at the buttom of every round Quote
