For those who put stock in ratings...

For those of you who enjoyed Chris Mortenson's prediction of the Bengals being his dark horse Super Bowl pick (which I hated since I want the Bengals to be a surprise and Mort has far too great of an audience for this to go unnoticed)...you will really like this rating:

http://football.about.com/cs/news/a/bl_power.htm

I like 'em ranked about 23rd, like sportsline, but I understand having someone who believes in us...it's back to the whole popularity thing.

Call me crazy( possibly a build-up of Cuervo toxins), but I think the road to XL in Detroit is gonna run straight through the Nati. Haven't had this kind of excitement in a long time. And it's not just because of one man's opinion. I think everyone on this board and Bengals fans in general can just feel something special a brewin...And I don't mean Jose's special either. ^_^

I'm with Big O... I'd rather be ranked low, and tell the world why they are blind. As this ranking stands, I think we are way too high. It's good to get some respect, but we are way too unproven to be ranked this high.

Last year the big pick was Seattle, and we all saw how that turned out. I don't want to be like them. I'd rather be like San Diego.

A lot of the major magazines and web sites will be coming out with their predictions in the following weeks...I wonder if this is a sign of things to come, or just a fluke. I think it's more like a fluke, but I don't think this guy and Mort will be the only 2 who hold the Bengals in high regard.

I think this prediction by Peter King might be more typical. He doesn't have Cincy or Balt even sniffing the wild card spot.

I'm with ya big O. I think some of the mags will give props while others will rank us low as usual and take a wait and see stance. By this time next year though, we'll get the props we deserve. BTW, I love your posts and kick-A$$ pics you post. I'm a season ticket holder now and would love to meet you and anybody else who posts on here....even Barbarian :D

Well, that's def typical for King anyway. He likes writing good things about the Bengals as much as we all like saying nice things about Ray Lewis.

I just don't see his Buffalo to the WC pick as being the least bit well informed. There WILL be Losman growing pains, whether King wants to admit it or not.

That will hold them back a bit.

Thanks Jungle Boy...that was very kind. If you're interested in seeing the real me (which you'll probably be dissapointed) you can check out my work web site (staff pictures are under the "I'm New" tab. And no, that's not really me on the Avatar...I only wish i looked that good.

I agree with you mem, somehow there was no way that the Bengals were going to do anything because our young QB was going to be going through growing pains, but apparently they see enough raw skills (far greater than Carson) in JP and think he has what it takes to lead that group right into the playoffs.

There are few writers who show as much favoritism as King, even though I still love his stuff.

I think James Gammon said it best in the movie Major League...

"Me, I'm for wasting sportswriters' time. So, I'd like to hang around and see if we can give 'em all a nice big sh*tburger to eat."

yep thats pretty much how i pictured u. u remind me of a person that was into drugs majorly then either went to jail, almost died, or had someone die around them and now are into jesus/god. im not saying thats how u are or it was, but thats just how i pictured it.

Don't tell Billy I'm into god, he won't like me anymore. Just let him think I'm an atheist undercover in a religious field that worships Bengals with him...I'd be fine with that.

Big O... I usually think your pics are mildly amusing, but that one hit me funny for some reason. I don't usually laugh out loud when I am by myself. I guess every guy can be got to by one of your pictures.

By the way... I was wondering how long you've been into youth ministry, and how you ended up a Bengals fan after being in Africa and Georgia?

I grew up in Dayton Ohio, and work with kids here in Indiana, and all the kids even all the way up here laugh at my Palmer jersey when they find out it doesn't say Vick on the back. Razzle dazzle is all they care about... kids these days.

I was born in Wilmington, OH and Fairfield is my home town, but since my folks were missionaries we lived all over the world (europe and africa). Been in ministry (if you can call it that) about a dozen years. I lived in Kenwood for a year a couple years back. Was the pastor of a tiny church called Kenwood Fellowship. Did a lousy job...I'm much more cut out for teenagers.

The first time I heard a Marvin press conference I was hooked on his leadership. The draft was shortly after that, which was so cool to me how they signed Carson even before the draft. And then the wins followed and I have been in Bengals bliss ever since.

There is so much to like about Marvin, his involvement in the community, how he has been like a surrogate dad to Chad, his humility and how he blamed the Dillon thing on his inability to win Dillon over (or Takeo)...just everything. I actually model a lot of my leadership after his. He has done more to heal racial discord in Cincy than anyone...mostly by refusing to make the fact that he's a black coach, an issue.

Bite your tongue Biggie! I'm the biggest "live and let live-er" goin! If I didn't like "God Fearing" people, that would mean I'd hate the entire rest of my family who happen to be born again Christians! My brother is a graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa Oklahoma. The home of the "900 ft. tall Jesus" don't you know! We just don't discuss religion, that's all!

(BTW...I firmly believe in "God." I just happen to firmly distrust the religions organized and run by men to worship their idea of him. Please don't anyone turn this into a debate about beliefs, because you're not going to change my mind, nor am I going to change yours!)

We have a beautiful thing on this forum (and most others) called personal messenger. This is where all discussions of religion should be held. Unless you have a Bengal wedding you want me to perform in an orange and black tuxedo, then I will forever work hard to keep it that way.

It's not like it's hard to find a church in this country...whatever of the 64 (more like 6400) flavors you might enjoy. If you have spiritual questions...look 'em up, they're even in the yellow pages. This is the throne room of Bengaldom. I personally like it that way.

Your belief in God and about how the organizations are run to worship him is exactly how allot of people feel but never expressed it so eloquently.....

Beautiful post my man.....
