Anderson, a tight end will join the Cincinnati Bengals while Nwabuisi, a running back, will head to camp with the New York Jets. "I am very thankful of the opportunity that I have received from the Bengals," said Anderson. "Cincinnati is definitely a team on the rise. I'm excited to become a part of the team and to help the Bengals become a perennial contender."Anderson was the Jayhawks' top tight end the last two seasons. He finished his senior year with 33 receptions for 328 yards. The Rochester, N.Y., native finished the 2004 season with an average of 9.9 yards per catch and three touchdowns.Nwabuisi, a native of Houston, Texas, played four seasons with the Jayhawks. He averaged 3.9 yards per carry as a senior and finished second on the team with three rushing touchdowns in 2004."I'm really excited about the chance to continue playing football," said Nwabuisi. I appreciate the Jets giving me that opportunity, and I plan on making the most of it."Both players are expected to report to their respective camps later in the week. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Won't make the roster.Another 6'3" TE, just what we need. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 Sooooo! The Bengals do go out and sign another TE. Does he realize he's coming in at #5 on the depth chart!?! This is one desperate football player here! Can he block and recieve? Nobody in management asked him about the latter half of your question...only the former! Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 26, 2005 Report Posted April 26, 2005 FWIW, sportsline ranks the guy 19th among college TEs...http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/...egularseason/TEThat's not too bad...they have Heath Miller at 7 and the Stanford kid at 2...and there's a lot more distance between those two's rankings and Miller & Anderson's.Probably turns out to be camp fodder but could surprise...not like we have a bunch of studs at the position now... bengalsfan33 Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Yeah, I'd love for him to impress in camp, but I highly doubt he'll make the roster when its all said and done. Quote

This is one desperate football player here! Actually he'd be coming in at #4 on the depth chart at tight end. Brad St. Louis doesn't rate on the tight end depth chart. He is signed to be the last ditch effort tight end and one of the premier long snappers in the league. Quote
TJJackson Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 If his speed is as advertised - in the mid to high 4.5's - he's got a chance to supplant one of the incumbents. Quote

Again, how hard does anyone think it will be for any new player...drafted, undrafted, or waiver wire pickup...to seriously threaten Tony Stewarts job? It's likely that Stewarts single advantage will be his knowledge of the offense. But his biggest disadvantage is that the Bengals know his limitations, and there's no compelling reason, besides the one already stated, to keep a backup player who has no upside. In regards to Anderson, for an athletic player said to be capable of stretching the defense I would have liked and expected to see a higher YPC. Quote

Plus Stewart will make $600k. Whether its Ronnie Ghent or a rookie free agent, there'll be about $350k available w/o Stewart to sign the rooks and maybe Braham now that Baumann has re-signed. Quote
DesperateDerelict Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Do you mean to tell me that Marvin wants Loni Anderson to play "Tight End". Isn't she a little over the hill? Quote
