Whur CHad At?
Due to the lack of productivity in the FA department, I have been led to believe that we need a GM, badly. Marvin obviously attracts the players, but we are to stupid to sign them, and Mikey is just horrible with business. I know you don't want to hear it but we need to follow what the Browns did and hire a GM. I think most teams in the NFL have GM's and they seem to sign a lot of good players. WHat do you think? volcom69
There should have been a GM in here a long time ago i think.
cincy9275
we need a gm and a owner!
HoosierCat
The Bengals absolutely, positively need a GM and a professional front office. No question about it at all. However, that will happen at roughly the same time that United Federation of Planets starships arrive at Earth bringing peace and wisdom, invite us to join a galaxy-wide community of planets, and provide us with free energy and unlimited matter replication to fulfill out every desire.So...as I must admit Hair drilled into my extremely hard head many years ago...there's not much point kvetching about it. HairOnFire
We don't need a GM. All we need to do is change the team policy in regards to free hats.

BengalszoneBilly
That's funny. I looked through the Enquirers classified help wanted ads from beginning to end, and I didn't see any openings for that job.
Kirkendall
I think all teams need a GM. I don't think there's a problem in that aspect with the Bengals though right now. It's a matter of fiscal availability, no matter what GM (or job related role) is here.

Check that free paper thing they have at the supermarket, the one where you don't pay unless you sell your car...it's listed in the "GM" section...under "Lumina" I think... cover2
Mikey boy still operates the way his Dad did it and the team suffers. This is 2005 not 1950. There is no reason this could not get done. I place the blame squarely on the front office, Marvin is not at fault here.

jjakq27
How do we know that Marvin isn't the GM? Maybe he just doesn't have the title.
Whur CHad At?
Well if he is, he is a terrible GM, and he needs to loose the job.
bengalboomer7
We do need a GM, but I don't think we know as much of the Sharper situation as we would like. I'll continue my faith
jamesbrooks21
Overreaction here???? I think so. I wanted Sharper too, but c'mon with the cap situation like it is and with the the deals we have done this offseason having alot of up front money it is not that surprising to me. There is a cheaper younger option in the draft and we will know exactly who that is in a little over a week. We do need a GM though.
Whur CHad At?
We had plenty of money for Sharper. Seattle's cap was just as bad as our's was. There is no excuse for not matching that offer. You sign someone, you cut someone. It is not that hard. Seattle was prob. the only smart team in this whole battle. We need a GM, badly. Bengals are pathetic.

Bengals are pathetic.Maybe they didn`t want to invest as much money as Seattle was willing toin a player they didn`t see as a long term solution ?Yeah Sharper has been solid for a few years in a row.But I`m sure playing all of those games without missing a play and making all of those tackles will starting wearing on his body soon...well before those 5 years are up. Maybe Marvindidn`t want to have to cut him in the future and was offering him a REAL contract that he would actually play out and receive ALL of themoney from ? I wish they would have signed Sharper...but I wasn`t pinning the hopes of our entire season on him...and obviously neither did his"buddy" Marvin...Maybe... just maybe... Marvin knows what is best for this team ?
HairOnFire
Maybe they didn`t want to invest as much money as Seattle was willing toin a player they didn`t see as a long term solution ? That's too logical. Then again, the Seahawk contract is being described as a two-year deal wrapped up in smoke and we all know how the Bengals feel about those things. So maybe you're onto to something. Still, the Mike Brown rant feels so comfortable...so familiar...so easy to slip into....like a favorite pair of sneakers. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh. BengalsOwn
It's been pretty much proven that successful teams have a legitimate GM. See Patriots, Eagles, Ravens, etc. Three teams off the top of my head that have been winners year after year.

Scottishbengal
By GM do you mean General Manager or Genetically Modified? I like the idea of a genetically modified team, one that could morph into a winning team, a conference champion ......... a Superbowl Winner. (time for a lie down now). cover2
No the Patriots don't have a new GM. However, they just gave that old guy Dillion a wonderful new contract. Look loosing Sharper was not a make or brake deal. But they certainly have a trend down there about FA and it's not good. As far asMarvin being apart of these deals I think not. The buck really stops with the guy who carries and writes the check. I don't think Marvin signs check? This is the last hurdle for the organization to get past. It certrainly needs to be addressed. We have to be on the very bottom when dealing with FA.The organization is really into denial on this one. I don't want to hear that fiscal reasponsibility crap. Hell, Denver just brought in a bus load of players....good or bad. The Brown family needs to step up and get past this......

Every good move HAD to be made by Katie Blackburn or Marvin Lewis...but without a doubt...EVERY bad (or unpopular I should say) move is all Mike Brown`s doing.
