TJJackson
Nah, I'm related to my dad, who is also Tom Jackson, and his dad, who was also named Tom Jackson, and...well, you get the picture :-)Not as common a name as John Smith, but common enough
TJJackson
I guess we just better hope that Warrick's agent isn't blowing smoke when he says Peter is at 100%.With apologies, i don't think Warrick's agent has a cure for arthritis....so I think Peter is done as a top notch player. Which is sad, because he was really coming on, I enjoyed watching him play. That said, I'm not sure that means he is done as a Bengal, due once again to that nasty thing called the cap....depends in part on how much cap they'd have to swallow if they release him this year. shworge
They would actually get 2.2 million in cap room back, that's why you see so many players in the last year of their deal get cut, because it improves your cap situation istead of hurting it. HoosierCat
Cutting Warrick would actually free up about $2 million in space, I believe. Trading him would be a better scenario (assuming they're looking at getting rid of him in the first place) but any deal would likely have to be for a conditional pick in 2006 due to injury questions. turningpoint
true, but i just don;t getthe whole arthritus argument. The guy played damn well with a broekn fibula.Give him 2 healthy legs, and he will shine.I've never even heard of a case of arthritus in an athelete, at such a young age...he's only 27, not 43 here. The ran routes in the MNF game on a broken leg, i saw no signs of arthritus, and if he does have it, it's controllable.Anyways IMO we should extend Warricks contract about 2 years.Give him maybe $4 mill for 3 years...So offer a 2 year $2 mill extentsion.Or just do something, i see him having a break out year. And loking back on this idea that I think Mason could be here, well i'd welcome him, if he wanted to be cap freindly, but i wouldn't welcome a 5year deal...he's already 31. schweinhart
After P-Dub sees what Housh gets, he'll be busting his a$$.Best to keep P-Dub hungry this year for top dollar the next, IMO, even if he'd sign an extension for slightly less than his cap hit this year. I wouldn't extend Warrick now. There are simply too many questions about the knee, which was the original and biggest problem, not the fracture. My nightmare scenario goes something like this. TJ walks. Warrick comes back, but he never had true NFL speed to begin with; his thing was elusiveness, and the knee injury takes the edge off that. And then K-wash continues to not develop. As a result teams find they can double-cover Chad with impunity and our passing game goes south rapidly. Here's hoping I'm wrong...

glnwf
I agree, TJ good receiver, P-dub great in red zone... but if you have Derrick Mason on the other side of chad johnson there is no way a D can defend them... not to mention kelley washington as the slot receiver. with those talented receivers, defenses are going to be forced to back off the line and that will allow whoever our back is (rudi/perry/free agent) to take advantage of the huge holes left by linebackers fleeing to help the DBs... then we can concentrate on a DL and a SS to work alongside m. williams in the draft. Agreed, but one thing disturbs me about that, a player of that age*(31) all the Cap $$ tied up for how long, and how long will we get full service??Warrick yeah sign if not too$$$, TJ yes indeed, really showed signes all season let alone the end. But otherwise would we be money ahead going after younger with same skills?Food for thought. What do Ya think?? :player:
HoosierCat
Joisey, you're such a downer... Chalk it up to long experience with this team. If you don't expect anything, you can only be pleasantly surprised...The flip side, of course, is that Warrick comes back fine, Kelly finally pulls his head out of his butt, and TJ or no, our passing game is fine. But I'm no more eager to roll the dice on Chad-Warrick-Washington than billy is to turn the keys to the running game over to Chris Perry. bengalboomer7
I know your pain TJ, try ordering a pizza in the 80's when your dad's name is Don Johnson!! Anyways, I think it's smart to keep Warrick this year, even if he's not completely healthy, he'll play his arse off in a contract year
