slowtwitch
i know that i am stating the obvious but the broncos really screwed themselves by trying to cover chad johnson one-on-one. i give kudos to bratkowski (sp?) for recognizing this opportunity and i am simply amazed that shanahan didn't make an adjustment after chump (sp?) bailey got burned the first time. this opened up our offense and forced denver's offense to play catch up and not exploit our weakness against the run. NO OTHER TEAM WE PLAY THIS YEAR WILL MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AFTER WATCHING THE MONDAY NIGHT GAME. i guess rest of our receivers will need to pick up the slack for the remainder of the season. sure hope pdub gets healthy soon... BengalBobNC
Also:The defense played inspired football, pass coverage, decent run defense (bent but didn't break), special teams were great, and the o-line gave Palmer time and blocked very well for Rudi who pounded away.Serious team effort in that victory. BengalszoneBilly
The defense played inspired football, pass coverage, decent run defense (bent but didn't break), Compared to some previous games against the Ravens Jamal Lewis, etc, I'd say they didn't bend AT ALL! Maybe slightly flexed. A incredible improvement for Frazier and his "D". I bad mouthed him when they played poorly, so I damn sure better give him props when they don't!! Bengal_Smoov
Frazier called a great game for once, hopefully the team can ride the emotionally high to another win. They say winning is contagious.
San Antonio Bengal
Frazier called a great game for once How much of the game did Frazier call and how much did Lewis call? I thought there was some point when Marvin was calling out the plays.
Scottishbengal
I thought it had been reported that Frazier called this game. After Lewis took over the calling Vs Cleveland, Frazier had a point to prove, and proved it very well against Denver.Well that's what I'd read. jditty47
what we need to do is keep sending chad deep but cut him out and send kelley or cliff or TJ deep as well and chuck them the ball instead. We should be able to keep going deep, just need to mix it up alot more now, especially with teams gonna double chad all day long regardless of how good their corners are. HoosierCat
I think the key was that the team played 60 minutes of football. That's the first time we've seen them do it all year long. I mean this in two ways: first, they played every snap, not all but 3 or 4 which resulted in 200 yards and 2-3 TDs, like they've done every other game. And second, they stepped it up in the fourth, especially on defense (thank you Justin Smith). For the first time in just about forever, they did not take their foot off an opponents' neck when they had them down! I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but the 13 points they won by represents the Bengals' biggest margin of victory since week 9 2002, Chad's infamous guarantee game against expansion Houston. And that was their biggest margin of victory since a 44-28 victory over expansion Cleveland in week 14, 1999. The last time they defeated a non-expansion team by 13+ points was the week before that Cleveland game against the 49ers, when they won by 14.Monday night was mighty nice. Nicest night in five years. Let's hope it's a harbinger of things to come.

I knew it felt like it had been awhile since they had one in hand that late, but I didn't realize it had been quite that long.
Barbarian
Shanny got out-coached by Marvin. Shanny shouldn't have given up on Droughns. He fumbled on a great carry--then Shanny gave up on the run.STOOPID!!!! He should have kept running through Justintheclubdrinking Smith's hole since Justin sucks at stopping the run.

And I distinctly remember seeing Justin stop several runs, and saved a long run by just yanking the guy down. Justin is actually top shelf against the run, it's rushing the passer he's had problems with.

If Justin was such a stud, he would have stopped one of those runs with a loss.It was when Droughns was stripped of the ball--when Shanny gave up on the run. I think that most of those runs were to the missing spot where williams was at. Did I dissect the game, and take notes on where every run was? No. But I also know that Justin is the best run stopper on that line. Now that ain't saying much, but it's true. The little man gave up the run, very true. But not until the 4th quarter when his team was down by 10 points and the Bengals showed signs of stopping the run. He actually ran the ball 8 times in the 3rd quarter, that's a full 3rd of his runs. Jonboat
I agree, we need other REC. to step it up we're missing P-dub bad & Washinton hasn't done anything, I'm not sure what's up with TJ he looked good the first couple of games. I think the TE's have sucked this year , I can't tell you how many damn balls they've dropped! I think the O-line is starting to gell & get healthy so if they can keep Rudi going that will help take some pressure off CJ too. But you're right someone has to step up esp. on 3rd. downs. I think that's where Perry, if he ever gets healthy, can really help! I'm looking forward to seeing him get some PT. & seeing what he's got! GO BENGALS!!!
