HoosierCat Posted September 23 Report Posted September 23 I suspect Dex’s attitude here is significantly better than it was in New York. They drafted him in 2019 and since then the Giants have had one, count ‘em, one season with more than 6 wins. (In fact, since 2013 the giants have had a grand total of two seasons — 2016 and 2022 — with more than 6 wins.) bottom line, New York sucks snd they’ve sucked for a looooong time. In Cincy he has a legit shot at a title. That’s got to matter. 1 Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 23 Author Report Posted September 23 That’s the truth right there Hoosier. Quote
TJJackson Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 Look at that outlier data point on the upper left :-) https://x.com/SumerSports/status/2102512386884477357?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^2102512386884477357|twgr^d7fc053d6074bf531882a00cc26e93e5ff2c1d56|twcon^s1_c10&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fstripehype.com%2Fbengals-daring-run-stopping-strategy-could-allow-their-defense-to-be-nfl-s-best Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 24 Author Report Posted September 24 Isn't it amazing to be able to generate a pass rush without stacking the box? I think this is what Hoosier referenced recently if I'm not mistaken. 1 Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 Yup. And look at that outlier data point way over on the lower right. Gee I wonder what happened between us and the Giants… 1 1 Quote
TJJackson Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 Might want to consider trading one of our DEs not named Mafe right now Before you string me up, hear me out We have 4 DES in addition to Mafe who are producing right now. She-mar, Cedric, Cashius, and Murphy. Their value is probably as high as it will be right now, and you really only need 3 or 4 for a solid rotation. So you can spare 1 You can probably get a starting linebacker who can tackle plus a low r3/high r4 pick right now, or a r2 pick. I prefer option 1 as it helps us NOW You bring up DE Foskey from the practice squad, who had an excellent preseason as a pass rusher I understand the injury risk. I know having depth is a good thing. But the trade value is VERY high right now. High enough to at least listen to offers Of the 4, the one id prefer most to trade would be Murphy, who I like a lot, but.....his contract ends this year, and i think his asking price will be prohibitively high Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 24 Author Report Posted September 24 I was thinking the same thing about TJ Slaton at the start of the season and now I'm glad they didn't. I'm sure if they were to make that decision, it wouldn't bother me much however. I don't disagree about Murphy's contract situation though and would have a hard time giving him a market level deal when considering his path. While I'm happy to see him doing better now than before, it would be hard to justify paying him that much. Maybe hope he balls out before the trade deadline and make a move when his value will be at it's highest. If they don't move anyone, I'm good with the depth for sure. Quote
TJJackson Posted September 24 Report Posted September 24 Yeah, i loooooooove the depth But we could really use a LB1 more than a DE5 right now and i know you love linebackers :-) The NFL talking heads are chirping about how our LB1 and LB2 are much improved this year, but they continue to miss a lot of tackles Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 25 Author Report Posted September 25 Thing is, who’s giving up a starting LB at this point and one that could come in and understand the scheme enough to bring the impact we want? Quote

It's too much of a leverage/ premium position that can destroy an offense Id hang on to them Quote
Stripes Posted September 25 Report Posted September 25 Any decisions this year must be made with the sole purpose of winning the Super Bowl this year. The future can eat my whole ass. This year. (which is to say, I'm not trading any of my pass rushers) Quote
TJJackson Posted September 26 Report Posted September 26 Guess who is and is not listed as a possible DPOY? One is a former Bengal The other is a current Bengal But youre wrong about which is which :-) https://www.espn.com/espn/betting/story/_/id/48476156/2026-nfl-awards-betting-odds-mvp-rookie-year-offensive-defensive-player-coach Quote
