Ravens come to the Jungle

The Brew Man

1. Palmer keeps his head about him: Ravens win 24-17

2. Palmer gets stuck in quicksand and implodes: Ravens win 34-7 with multiple ints returned for TDs

So, worst case scenario is Rats put up 27 points....riiiigghhhtt. I tend to see this as very similar to the 'fins game, except that the Rats have a RB. Obviously, it could be a big difference there. However, our offense is clearly better than we showed last night, so I tend to think that will wash out somewhat. I predict the Bengals are good for a TD and a couple of FG's. So, the question is can your offense put up at least a TD, assuming your defense can? I say no -- Bengals in a close one.

i agree with all that said we need to blitz alot and bring that s**t and force boller to throw. He completely sucks in the redzone and all his yards come between the 25's. He wont have heap, his hugest threat, so we need to stop that rungame. Their offense is better than miamis cuz they have played together alot. That doesnt mean they are good though. Jamaal is a beast and we need to get to him in the backfield to not let him get going. This is gonna be another low scoring game. Both defenses will play good again i think, bengals actually get a couple td's on offense though, 20-19 is still my prediction.

Depends which team shows up on Sunday. If the Week 1 Ravens show up, which i doubt, then you'll easily handle us. If, however, the week 2 team shows up, it'll look just like this game did. You won't be able to establish the run, Palmer turns the ball over a la Big Ben. I'm sorry, but your defense hasn't arrived yet. A couple of plays against an awful offense don't legitimize them. Pittsburgh's defense is far better in the front 7 than yours, and we were able to push them around. Two outcomes possible:

1. Palmer keeps his head about him: Ravens win 24-17

2. Palmer gets stuck in quicksand and implodes: Ravens win 34-7 with multiple ints returned for TDs

I will admit of course that this is the NFL, and anything is possible. But unless my boys don't show up for some reason, we win. And after the Bengals showed they were "legit" last season, you won't catch us by surprise this time. This time the INT doesn't bounce off of Reed's shoulder, this time he takes it to the house.

One thing that throws this game in our favor that nobody is mentioning is home field. If this game were in Baltimore I would have a hard time saying we would hang in it. But in the jungle, things happen. (see KC game last year)

Do you really think the reason the Bengals won last year was because of surprise? If so, that says alot about Billicks coaching ability. Home field advantage is just that. And injuries are hurting the Ratbirds badly right now. Bengals stack 8 in the box all day, Jamal runs 24 times for 56 yards and 1TD

Ravens D scores once.

In the end

Bengals20

Ratbirds 14

Our offense did not look impressive against a very tough defense on Sunday nite. However, I do believe the Bengals have a powerful offense and they will do a better job against the Crapbirds. Remember, this is a rivalry and we HAVE to win the home games, especially in our division. Palmer is learning quickly and will only throw 1 interception, but will throw 2 TDs.

Bengals 24, Crapbirds 10.

It's early in the week, but I gotta go with Cats 16 - Birds 10. Gonna be ugly again, but we come out on top.

The Oline plays better in both aspects of the game evening out the line a bit. We will stuff 9 in the box to keep Jamal in check, although I think he'll get one long run but not for a TD. Deltha and Tory shut down KJ and whoever else they may run out there to catch a pass allowing KK and MW to blitz at will.

CP has a game similar to the fins but with a bit less pressure due to the improved line play. We will still have trouble moving the ball, but the key is to protect the rock. We did it against the fins and we'll do it against the birdies.

Cocky? I think that is qualified bravado. Out of the last ten games, how many have you won? Out of the last five? What about the last game we played?

Of course you can argue that you have a different team. Until you win more than lose against my team over a course of 3 years or so, you haven't proven anything. In this same vein, you won't hear either myself or Jam say we own the Steelers b/c we have beaten them twice. Historically, they own us. It's going to take another season to prove to us that things have changed. Likewise, you guys have a lot to do to prove that you are the type of team to pose a constant threat.

In regards to the Miami comparison, our defense is on another level from theirs. All the respect in the world to miami, but their defense isn't a vicious buzzsaw like the Ravens D is. Our offense, although ugly, is also an order of magnitude better than miami's. Just the presence of a 2000 yard back is huge.

As I've alluded to b/f, this game will be over quickly. I say by the end of the 1st quarter we'll have a good sense of what is going to happen.

I'd agree your team has earned you the right to be cocky - which will make our rise and your demise all the sweeter.

Agreed - we still have a hell of a lot to prove. These things take time and we are going in the right direction. Nothing achieved as yet though ........ as yet.

Vicious Buzzsaw ???? Letting the Browns score 20 ...The Browns!!!

Something happened to your buzzsaw - perhaps it needs a service, perhaps it needs overhauling. Perhaps you'l need a new saw soon.

Offense doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to do the job. With Boeller in and Heap out and Lewis stuttering, do you think you have the tools to get the job done? (I think Jamal is more likely to get you 1300yds this year rather that the 2066 he racked up last season)

The Ravens have a right to be cocky, and Bengals Fans are right to be cautiously optimistic about our upcoming match. I would not expect to see a Ravens fan on here predicting his team to lose, it just wouldn't be right.

As for the game, I think it'll be closer to the Miami game, but the Bengals should be able to break out of their offensive funk and score 1 or 2 TDs. The D will be hungry to prove that they can play like they did last week against opponents with at least 1 facet of their offense clicking, and they'll study game film to see what the Browns did to shut the Ravens down. They may want to look at how in the Hell the Browns were able to drop 20 points on them as well.

I agree that this would be a different situation if the Bengals were playing in Baltimore, but since they are at PBS they have the advantage. I see another close game, even more of a nail-biter and the Bengals edging the Ravens 21-20.

Perhaps it was the first game of the season, our starting defensive backfield hadn't played together at all in the preseason and there were two communication breakdowns.

Everyone gets lucky and Garcia did on Opening Day. They earned the victory but those 2 touchdowns they scored will not allow teams to attack us anymore than normal.

And it will not change a Ravens fans opinion that we have the best defense in the league.

Things could get real hairy quick for our two young starting qbs Sunday.

I agree with this, JAM--the Ravens got it together last week against a Squeelers Team that won handedly in week 1.

That's why I say that the Bungles are in trouble this week--especially since the Bungles (other than Palmer-to-CJ) won't be able to move the ball on that defense.

You guys who are predicting these 38-30 final scores are on crackola.

EXPECT A LOW-SCORING GAME since the offenses won't be able to move the ball.

I'll change my mind on the score (by one point) and say the Ravens win....

Final Score:

Ravens 10 (Defensive INT returned for TD)

Bungles 6

What about the last game we played?

What about the one before that? You know, the one in Cincy last year?

Of course you can argue that you have a different team.

You're darn tootin', Mr. Iced Tea Brand. You can throw out everything beyond last year, because there are only 13 players left on this squad that were here in 2002. We split with you last year, and I'm damned confident we'll split with you -- at least! -- this year.

All the respect in the world to miami, but their defense isn't a vicious buzzsaw like the Ravens D is.

 Yeah, go beat Cleveland and then tell me about your "buzzsaw." Heck, how many TDs did you give up to Cheeseligsburger? "Buzzsaw" my a$$.

Win, lose, or draw Sunday, mark this down right now: the best the Baltimore Felons do this year is one-and-done in the playoffs.

MY PREDICTION:

Bengals 20

Ravens 10

Bengals offense will struggle a little in the beginning. We'll have a couple field goals in the first half. In the second half, Carson and Chad Johnson will hook up with some long passes. Maybe T.J. will have a long return on his birthday.

GO BENGALS :player:
