ArmyBengal Posted April 20 Report Posted April 20 I’m serious when I say the lack of difference between all of the DE’s could be the reason we see a 2nd round RB. 1 Quote

ArmyBengal Posted Tuesday at 02:28 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 02:28 PM Ok, one last thing about trading Trey. There were reports about the Colts and Lou A. being interested in trading for Trey. Lets pretend for a minute we trade Trey to the Colts for their 2nd and 3rd round picks this year. That would be adding the #45 and #80 picks overall. Focus on the player, position, or whatever. A trade would look "something" like this... 19. Pearce, DE, Tennessee 45. Watts, S, Notre Dame 49. Ratledge, OG, Georgia 80. Norman-Lott, DT, Tennessee 81. Burke, CB, Ohio State 119. Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma 153. Diggs, DE, Syracuse 193. Kiser, LB, Notre Dame That's one hell of a defensive rebuild right there with some really solid talent. Easy to double up at both DE and LB with all those picks and didn't miss a single defensive unit. Added players from high end programs that were both leaders and productive. Obviously, you could switch out one player for another, but I just wanted to paint the picture. 1 Quote
AMPHAR Posted Wednesday at 11:55 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 11:55 AM It would take trade compensation like that to move Trey, IMO. He's the most clutch pass rusher I've ever seen with the Bengals. If you watch the mic'd up highlights in the last game vs. the Steelers. Zac goes to Trey, "Win the game". Boom he comes up with big pass rushes and makes the play. I really wouldn't want to do a summer of "hot takes" concerning a Trey hold out, but I'm not wanting the Bengals to give him up cheap. Exactly my thinking IF they trade Trey, they better get a return that allows for that type of defensive reload. 1 Quote

Again, I'm not really advocating giving up on Trey, but it's what something like that allows for. There really are worse things we could do and with a new DC, who you know is going to get picks, that would work. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM Report Posted yesterday at 04:32 PM Not Bengals related, but draft related, hence me placing it here. I have a co-worker who is a Jags fan and he must have read Florio's take on Travis Hunter and decided it was his take in the office, claiming they "literally" got two players for the price of one. It was one of those mornings I didn't feel like being agreeable for the sake of it and responded with, "That's literally the dumbest take I've heard on that pick". "You literally got ONE player, not two and the price was not for one." They swapped first round picks, so it cost the difference of those two spots. Then got the Jags 2nd and 4th round picks this year along with their 1st rounder next year. That's far from the price of one. After him trying to explain what they really meant, I finished with, "The Jags LITERALLY got one player for the price of 3 players and the cost difference between the 2nd and 5th pick contracts, oh and if Hunter goes down to injury, they literally lose two starters." I'm pretty sure I heard a murmured "What a dick" as I was walking away. I've been called worse and I really don't like the Jags... Quote
Stripes Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago You can definitely argue that Jaguars got one player for the price of two. I was never thrilled with the Travis Hunter hype. I think his two-way ability dramatically inflated his perceived value. He needs to be elite on one side or the other to be worthy of what the Jags paid to get him. If he is a "solid" or "above average" receiver and/or corner, that's not good enough. I've heard a lot of "being average at two positions is like being good at one position", and I think that's just completely wrong. 1 Quote
