Week 5: Ravens @ Bengals

I can't help it.  Call it the dork in me, but every time I hear the word "Calamities" I think Bilbo Baggins speaking to Smaug the dragon.
"The chiefest and greatest of calamities".  That scene, whether you like that nerd fest or not, is fun to watch.  I rather enjoy all that shit.

If we have Reggie Myles (look to the left) back, we're gonna win !!!!!!!

Just dont allow Carl Powell anywhere near the stadium

Sadly I’m not sure Carl Plowed wouldn’t be an upgrade right now.

How lucky are we?  The solution to fix this entire defense that's always given up yards is just sitting on the bench!  Kinda odd how that happens.   Battle ends up on a PFF list one time and he's the savior and the player playing in front of him just happens to be the  most critical failure point.

Awesome.   Make the switch today!

I hope he's that good.    Much like just switching O-line coaches from Turner to Pollack wasn't going to instantly solve the fact they had 1 starting caliber linemen that in time proved to be average as average in Jonah Williams.  How long has it taken to get a singular game with no sacks?

The defense is soft.  They constantly take bad angles probably because they don't lust for that first contact and would rather strip at the ball.   Chunk plays happening again.   Probably time for a coordinator switch and time to move on from some players in the offseason IF it can't at least rebound and get up into the top half of the league.

They don't have a Burfict roaming waiting to cheap shot somebody.  Willing to give up his mental health, wealth and career just to prove a point he can light you up anytime he wants.   They have a bunch of coverage guys and potential ball hawks, I guess.

Hopefully Battle is that good.   Make the off season a whole lot easier IF we have David Fulcher on the bench and don't know it.

This defense appears as weak as I've seen them in quite some time.
They lack an aggressive attitude and there's no one that an opposing offense has to plan for.
No difference maker.  Trey might be the closest thing they have, but since there's no one else, his impact isn't huge.

BJ Hill and Rankins haven't been there.  The DT backups provide minimal to no impact.
Outside of Trey, there is no pass rush.  Hubbard appears done and then no one.
I like Pratt and Wilson and ADG, but with the DT's and DE's not doing much, they don't make much of an impact either.
The secondary seems completely ineffective.  Opposing offensive players seemingly have tons of space to make plays downfield.

The defense is going to keep this team from making the post season.
I'm watching, but they sure are making it hard.

If I'm Burrow, I'd be asking someone else to take the post game interviews.  He's in no position to answer for why the defense sucks.

Hendrickson day-to-day per Zac.

Re Murphy/Jackson Zac "wants to see how they look in practice" before deciding whether to activate them (they are both on a 3 week roster exemption). I'd say that's a pretty good sign they are both healthy, so just a comfort level issue.

Even without his bro's tweet I would be surprised not to see Murphy out there Sunday, especially with Hendrickson dinged up.

Well, I will be tuned into both of those games.  ArmyBengal Jr. and I are flying down to Houston for the Bills Texans game.
Hanging out with my Army buddy who lives down there.  Going to be a good time.
No worries TJ, I will be wearing my Atkins jersey to the game regardless !!

Purely a guess on my part, but since McKinley hasnt practiced for most of camp, he wont be going Sunday

I think they keep him on the 21 day list where he can practice without counting towards the 53 for at least a couple of weeks

Myles isnt a rookie so he'll likely go

That’s my expectation as well.

I've been bothered all along that a third round rookie is being treated as the savior at DT when we've never even seen him play professional football. Hopefully he isn't another Shelvin.

There’s no comparison. For one thing, Jackson has far more experience and production. Shelvin only played in 21 games over four years in college; Jackson has 40 games under his belt. His production is higher as well (7.5 sacks v 1.5 for example). I don’t know if he’s a savior but he’s better than Shelvin.
