BengalBax
Cut James?? Ok so he got beat deep twice in preseason, this guy had a pretty solid year last year!!No way we cut Tory! I do agree with your other observations though.Case closed.
membengal
I continue to be stunned about how much stock some folks put into the preseason when looking at veterans. If you think ML and his staff are evaluating Tory James' performances, based on the vanilla defenses they have been running, and will decide they don't need him, you are out of your mind. KYBENGALFAN
I'm hoping San Diego cuts one of its backup running backs, rookie :player: Michael Turner, from my old college, Northern Illinois University, but I doubt that highly after he rushed for 116 yards against the 49ers on Thursday night. But, then again, he's more or less, another straight ahead runner like Rudi Johnson. Does everyone feel like Rudi is our lead back for years to come, or just a plug-in until someone else comes along? WHO DEY.
Bobcat Bengal
Does everyone feel like Rudi is our lead back for years to come, or just a plug-in until someone else comes along? WHO DEY. Time will tell, KY. It says something however when you draft a RB in the first round though. You can't help but wonder about the Bengals' plans after this year. I'm sure Chiefs fans are still wondering what Larry Johnson looks like on the field, ditto with McGahee. But, then again, nowadays its becoming the norm to keep two quality RB's, much like we have two quality QB's in our stable. I think we're probably gonna keep Rudi (that is if he doesn't ask for too much ) and mix it up, Power Blows, Body Shots and Jabs.
schweinhart
Cut Ziesel, Brooks, Lynch, Wade, Myles, Manuel, Whalen, Lougheed, Mann, Scott, Kooistra, and Augustin.
wookie
James is a player to keep your eye on, no doubt...but right now the Bengals don't have anyone who has proved they are better. A couple of CBs may have had better nights last night, but they weren't defending Peyton Manning passes. Peyton had it way to easy against our D last night, and James was his favorite victim, but I don't think we should cut him for last nights performance.By mid-season, or maybe earlier, if its apparent that teams are picking on him and he's getting burned, then you demote him and look for a replacement for next year. This year he's still our best choice for a starter.I'd also like to see the team try to keep Manuel. jditty47
mann will stick so will broussard i believe. They like mann's size and upside. No way in hell James will get cut. But his ass should be worrying about his starting spot if he keeps what he did in the preseason up in the regular season. Lynch has played amazing for us at FB. I do not think we will cut him. This might be the first time we keep 2 FB's. And i doubt we cut Schoebel.I dunno...its gonna be a very tough weekend for our coaching staff as a ton of players are on the bubble. Have to agree about James. Manning has a way of making a lot of db's look like they're having an off nite. I like Schoebel, but he just hasn't been able to bring the entire package to the field. He's also only seen action once in pre season, and as Foley would tell you if he was still here .... that doesn't bode well for his future.Manuel is gone and even he is admitting it. Rookies looked good last nite, but they're still a year away. Can probably cut James next year and him and Sanders can sit around the barber shop and tell war stories. HoosierCat
James is off ot a rough start but I'm not ready to call for his head yet.Lap brought up a good point during the Colts game: given the way fullback is a dying position around the league, Lynch should clear waivers. I see the practice squad in his future.Mann would be likely to clear waivers, too, IMHO. Broussard might get grabbed for his return skills. ShulaSteakhouse
Tory James was junk the 2nd half of last season, he was terrible last week as well. This is not a case of having a "bad game," it's about someone who's probably a better safety than CB at this point. The Bengals have too many of those.I hope Marvin isn't afraid to yank him from his starting spot if he doesn't play better. Like Thorton and Hardy he's just another overrated FA pick-up from last season.

redsfan2
re cuts ................Reading Daughertys' column this morning was surprised to see Askew as one of the guys he had listed as being on the bubble. I thought he had been doing pretty good. Anybody got an insight to why Daugherty was saying this ??? or is it just him being Daugherty again ??? You don't cut your 4th round pick in the draft before the end of at least one year.

You don't cut your 4th round pick in the draft before the end of at least one year. Went back and re read the article ..... #1 It was Curnutte and not the other one. He also said that the Bengals would likely have to keep Askew and Geathers on the 53 man roster in order to protect them. ............ which kind of adds to my confusion. If he's saying they'll likely be kept on the roster .... then how can they .. at the same time ... be on the bubble ????????????
