HoosierCat
A few tidbits from Skinner over at channel 12: Among some of the highlights were: Left tackle Cedric Ogbuehi stopping rookie linebacker Carl Lawson cold on back-to-back 1-on-1 blocking drill plays. Linebacker Vontaze Burfict knocking running back Tra Carson backward and popping running back Giovani Bernard. Andre Smith taking care of two defenders at the same time in a half-line drill. Rookie linebacker Jordan Evans knifing into the backfield to drop Bernard for a loss. ... Lewis was vocally unhappy a few times during the practice. During an early half-line running drill he yelled at left tackle Jake Fisher, who wears No. 74, "74, you're on the ground a lot." He was also upset with the second-team offense after quarterback AJ McCarron drew the first-team defense offside and then didn't huddle as quickly as Lewis would have liked. "Get in the huddle, huddle up, let's go," Lewis screamed. "Raggedy (expletive deleted), let's go." ... Andre Smith was back with the first team at right guard after spending Saturday at right tackle with the second team. ... Defensive end Michael Johnson was not dressed for practice for the second straight day, and after it was thought that Saturday was simply a a veteran's day off, he is obviously hurt, but it's not clear what the injury is. ... Defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry was dressed for practice, but went to the rehab field after stretching. ... Wide receiver Jake Kumerow is hopeful to get the boot off his right foot within a week after suffering an injury in Friday's practice when he got rolled on by a teammate while blocking downfield on a running play. http://local12.com/sports/bengals/5-observationsnotes-from-july-30-bengals-camp
HoosierCat
Owczarski: #Bengals have waived Jon Brown and signed free agent safety Cedric Thompson. Was a #Dolphins 5th Rd. pick in ’15. Worth watching due to injuries at safety. Likely just a camp body but you never know.

ArmyBengal
Someone needs to get Eifert a red jersey or something. Wrap that f*cker in bubble wrap if need be. Just get him to the opener healthy.
Dimster28
I am glad there is fights in practice as they need practice this to be prepared for Steelers. as in they need pratice control themself, not practice the fight itself lol.
COB
I think that RB coach either got pushed or was too close to the two guys doing the pushing.
membengal
I have zero issues with that kind of scuffling in camp. As long as no one gets hurt. Plus, Gio had to get hit near the knee sometime, so, now he's been hit near the knee. Mental hurdle crossed.

It was inarguably dumb of Burfict, and IMHO Marvin ought to have sent him into the locker room to write "I will not tackle during non-tackling drills" 500 times on the blackboard, or some such equivalent slap upside the head. That said, some people (like Rapien) seem to want to make a bigger issue out of it than it is. It was just dumb, nothing more.
membengal
Pretty much. But dumb shit happens all the time in all training camps. The need to panty-bunch about this is probably unique to Cincinnati and its self-loating fanbase and writers. In any event, Gio has now taken a hit on his legs and near his knee and got up. Glad he has that done. Onward and upward.
HoosierCat
Actually he didn't even hit him in the knees. Dehner apologized for saying that today. Said it looked like that at first but it was actually a legal tackle and Burfict just slid down Gino's legs as he fell. So basically the whole kerfuffle can be trade back to Dehner jumping the gun. membengal
Right. That's why I said "hit him in the legs near his knee". Dehner really started something that didn't need to be started. Regardless, Gio has taken a leg hit and that is now something he doesn't have to have a mental issue over going forward.

COB
Bad news. My confidence in our OC has taken a turn for the worse and has left the rehab field and has been driven to the hospital.
COB
More bad news, my confidence in this offense has contracted a bad MRSA infection at the hospital (I also lack confidence in the Browns offense). The DL is an inevitability at this point.
HoosierCat
It is my sad duty to report that COB's confidence passed away tonight at 7:56 eastern standard time. A memorial service will be held Sunday at Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration (Fr. Jake presiding) in Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family of the deceased asks that donations in the form of armed grenades be sent to Mike Brown at the front office at PBS. COB
Yep, my confidence in the offense put up a valiant fight, but Zampese's double digit IQ and Ougbuehi's double digit bench press were too much for it. RIP.
