HoosierCat Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present the Stupidest NFL Rumor in the History of Stupid NFL Rumors:I'm told the Cincinnati Bengals may have to cut Carlos Dunlap in order to create the salary cap room necessary to sign a number of other highly considered players on their roster about to hit free agency. />http://walterfootball.com/combinerumors.phpYeah, they are going to cut him the year after giving him a new $40 million deal so they can free up a whole $2.2 million in cap space. COB Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 Agreed, that may be the dumbest rumor I've ever heard."I'm told..." Right. More like, "I'm making something up because I need to fill a blank space on a web page or blog. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 Pauline doubles down, sorta./>http://www.draftinsider.net/blog/?p=9497I went back to my source for clarification and was told yes, the organization has in fact had conversations about potentially cutting Carlos Dunlap or at least attempting to restructure his contract. I’m told the way Dunlap’s contract is structured the team has until March 30th to make a decision.Note the extensive use of weasel words. Pauline alleges they would do this to re-sign MJ, which makes no sense at all since Dunlap is arguably the better player. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Posted March 5, 2014 So in addition to 7.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles, football outsiders ranks Dunlap as the third-best run-stuffer among edge rushers in 2013.But we're gonna cut him according to some guy on the interwebs... Quote
membengal Posted March 10, 2014 Report Posted March 10, 2014 Remains the stupidest rumor ever associated with the Bengals. I am serious about this. Quote
HoosierCat Posted July 3, 2014 Author Report Posted July 3, 2014 Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present the Stupidest NFL Rumor in the History of Stupid NFL Rumors:I may have been wrong...this might be even dumber:/>http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/02/joey-porter-may-be-a-future-nfl-head-coach/ Quote
COB Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 Larry Foote gets paid to play football, not think. This story is evidence of that. Quote
kingwilly Posted July 3, 2014 Report Posted July 3, 2014 There is no shortage of former players who ended up being HCs. Some, most people would never have guessed during their playing career. Mike Munchak, Herm Edwards, Mike Tice. If Mike Tice can end up a HC, then Joey Porter may have a shot. Quote
