Chargers @ Bengals Pregame Chatter

Gilberry was on the radio show Monday night and made it sound like he would play if cleared and will wear an eye shield on his helmet when he plays.

I think Gresham has a chance to make some plays even if he's not 100% and Eifert is not in there this week.

Did anyone hear Marvin's press conference? He sounded extremely loose and upbeat as I've ever heard him. Good stuff. The significance of the game is not lost on him with all of the personal subplots etc. He sounded strong and confident without downgrading the Chargers.

I liked that he looked at the goal as winning the next four games and not just to win one to get people off their backs.

Hobs:

» Pro Bowl wide receiver A.J. Green watched practice in sweats, but all signs are he's playing Sunday. That looks to be the same thing with left tackle Anthony Collins (ankle) and left guard Andrew Whitworth (ankle), not on the field but they appeared to be OK after Sunday's game. Kyle Cook (foot) may be more questionable but he was not on crutches Wednesday. Cornerback Terence Newman (knee), trying to come back after missing the last three games, worked on the side. Defensive lineman Wallace Gilberry, who got poked in the eye Sunday, didn't work but it looks like he'll be OK.

Tight end Jermaine Gresham (hamstring), who didn't play last week, looked to be getting work, but tight end Tyler Eifert (neck) wasn't after he missed Sunday's game.

Good news. I'll take it.

Would like to see Eifert back next week if in NE. Will need to score some points, I would think.

Was Hall injured before or after we played the Pars?

After. He got hurt against the Lions.

Gosh is it game time yet? I'm pulling my hair out LET'S GO.

I know! The holiday yesterday messed my routine up! Seems like today should be Sunday already!!

Kind of bummed because I go into nursing homes and entertain. I have a standing gig on the first Sunday of every month at 4pm.

I would need to leave my house by NLT 3:15pm.

Which means I'll have to tune in Hoard and Lap and listen to the last 45 minutes or so on the radio!

This evening on Sports Center, Mark Schlereth picked the Bengals, Colts, Saints and 49ers to win in the four Wild Card games this weekend. When prompted, he said he thought the Bengals and 49ers had the best chance of the Wild Card teams to make it to the Super Bowl. Of course there was some mention of Andy Dalton but I was happy to hear a little positive Bengal-love for a change.

Dawkins went so far as to say it'd be a blowout.

Perhaps.

Just catching up on the injury report. Not happy to see Collins is "very" questionable.

If he can't go, Whit goes back to LT? Then who rolls at LG? Hawkinson?

Or would it be better to leave Whit at LG, and have Roland secure LT?

f**k.

Yep, of the 13 "experts" from ESPN that made picks, all but three of them picked the Bengals.

I know they are saying the Bengals are really loose for this game and I really hope that's true.

There seems like there is plenty of pressure on them to win this game when looking at it.

I think what Whit said here sums it up. This team is different. Check out the excerpt below:

Linebacker Michael Boley has been in the league nine years and said he has never been on team that likes each other as much, and has no segregation between offense and defense, like this one. How much does that play into your success as a team?

AW: “Oh, I think it’s huge. Here the last couple years, that’s one of the reasons I thought we were getting better each time we step on the field. This a young, young football team with a lot of young talent, but more importantly, it is truly a family environment. Every guy that comes here, the first thing they tell me as a leader is they say ‘Hey man, I don’t know what y’all have done, but this is the biggest family I’ve been a part of. Everybody’s cool, no one is fighting each other or any of that kind of stuff.’ We treat it like a family. When you’re not just out there thinking about yourself, how much money you’re going to make or the play you need to make, you’re out there thinking, ‘That’s my brother over there. I’ve got to get his back.’ Or the offense just had a turnover and the defense is thinking, ‘Man, let’s get those guys back the ball.’ When you’re playing that way for each other, that’s when you start to have something special.”
