Vikings @ Bengals Pregame Thread

So, in the attempts to keep this thread on line.

What are everyone's feelings on seeing Peterson this coming weekend since the report is that he will play ??

I don't know what to think of the Vikings after Cassel lighting it up last weekend.

Fluke ?? Dome win ?? Coming of age to late ??

I think the Bengals win this game at home and I hope they are angry going into it.

GRRRR and SH*T !!!

It didn't hurt Cassel that the Eagles D is junk, particularly their pass D. I expect the Bengals to do a little better.

AP is always a concern, but the Vikings' defense is pretty bad. Bengals ought to be able to put up points.

That's about where I am with this.

My optimism springs more from how terrible the Vikings are on the road and how good the Bengals have been at home.

Tough to sell this game out. The weather has been brutal, and it is the Saturday before Christmas. I have a family and I know a lot of the guys in here do too. Just a weekend where other things take priority. I can dvr it and watch it that way, but no way can I carve out 9 or 10 hours to go to a game, and I suspect I'm pretty typical.

No more Saturday games in the NFL. It's on Sunday

Not sure what's wrong with me. Pretty stressed out. I also misread a graphic they had up on the screen after the game and Tirico said the Ravens owned their own destiny as far as the north goes. Moving my office, two new coworkers to train, Xmas, etc.

I'm right there with you COB, there are simply too many family Christmas things going on to make a trip out to catch the game.

While I pretty much have things finished in regards to the kids and their Christmas wishes, there are family things to consider.

Don't get me wrong, if the opportunity arose where I wouldn't take more heat than I would be comfortable with, I would head down.

I just don't see that happening right now.

I still hope the game is at least close to selling out if for no other reason than to get the players fired up even more.

Vikes are certainly playing better. I've been hearing that the players like Frazier and don't want him fired. Not sure if I ever bought that idea when it comes to motivation.

Rudolph is on IR and AP may not be 100% even if he plays. My main concern is pressuring Cassel into some turnovers and making sure Patterson isn't allowed to make big plays.

And I hope the flu thing has run it's course here.

I'm glad I am down here in sunny Florida weather-wise, but I do miss having the opportunity to go to the Bengals and Reds games. I do get to see them when they play here in Miami, Jacksonville, or Tampa, but it's not the same in the away stadiums!

Plus the only time I get to see them on TV is when they are on nationally. Thank goodness for the Directv package at several of the restaurants around town!!

I'm with you jj! Personally, if they just have sound fundamental tackling like they have had the first 12 games and not the fiasco we've seen in the last 2 games, with no turnovers, I think they'll be fine.

Simply put, the Vikings suck.

There is not one part of that team that scares me. not one. Bengals need to come out and dominate.

Zimmer seems to disagree:

Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer came off the practice field Wednesday after the Bengals worked on the PBS turf still quite not believing the Vikings are ranked only 13th in offense. He's impressed. And not just with Adrian Peterson, a running back he puts in the same "take your breath away," category as Barry Sanders.

"I was hoping not to see what I see on tape," Zimmer said of the wide receivers. "They've got some skill guys now, too. (Jerome) Simpson is playing well for them. (Cordarrelle) Patterson is a tremendously strong runner and receiver. And (Greg) Jennings. They're talented offensively."

They are an offense that statistically does well, usually compiling numbers when way behind in games. They rank 22nd in passing.

There is no denying Peterson, a future Hall of Fame lock, is a big threat when healthy.

The weakness is at QB. Another weakness is on the Oline. Giving up 37 sacks, 11 more than Cincy.

I'm not alone in being concerned with our injuries in this game am I ??

Jennings, Patterson, and Simpson do give Cassel options and Peterson running only opens that up.

When looking at our defensive injuries and tackling issues as of late, i'm just not comfortable in thinking they run the Vikings out by 2-3 TD's.

Continuing on the offensive side of things, if the o-line has another game like they did against the Steelers, Dalton and the running game will struggle.

Don't get me wrong, i'm hoping for a 2-3 TD win and be able to relax heading into the Ravens game. I'm just not sold.

I don't think I'm going to be able to get out and watch this game at my friend's house like I usually do.

Looks like I'll be at home with my computer on my lap watching the game with you guys here on Bengalzone.

Either I'm getting older, or this forum provides me with a much needed sanity during the insanity of the games. Looking forward to it and let's bring it home on Sunday!

Very worried about this game. The Eagles were 8-5 last week and the Vikes beat them 48-30. They're doing their version of the dead cat bounce, hitting their stride when they've got nothing left to lose.

Over/under on how many minutes into the game Brandon Ghee fractures his skull going full speed into AP is currently at 11.
