Via Hensley, Kiper's three-round mock for Cincy:

Rd. 1 (21) S Kenny Vaccaro, Texas

Rd. 2 (37) RB Montee Ball, Wisconsin (via Oakland)

Rd. 2 (53) LB Khaseem Greene, Rutgers

Rd. 3 (84) WR Denard Robinson, Michigan

I could live with that, tho a lot of folks don't think very much of Ball.

Waste of a 2nd and 3rd round pick in my opinion.

Ball and Robinson?

Yep. This team does not need a slow, plodding RB, they already have BJGE.

They need a speed back with the capability to break long runs.

Robinson ??

Maybe in the 5th or later.

He's not a QB, not a WR, not a RB. He's an athlete that doesn't play any position well.

A 3rd rounder on that ?? Yeah, wasted pick.

Ball from 2 seasons ago in the second round would be OK, but not what he has become. To much wear and tear on him already.

Vacarro and Greene I like alot, Robinson can be the X-factor WR/RB/QB that some on this board seem to think is needed badly enough to use a first round pick on, count me out of wasting a first rounder on that. Robison in the third has alot of risk/reward to it. He could be a game changer, but he might be a total flop in th NFL. I'd be OK with this pick.

Give me a OT instead of the Ball pick and I would be loving the first three rounds.

They would have to take the best speed back option left to them with the next pick and it would be a very solid draft.

The difference in Robinson and Austin is clear for anyone willing to take a look.

One of them has been stellar at both the RB and WR positions through their college career.

One of them has been a running QB that has never lined up at either position until the combine.

So if we are looking for a player you could say would provide a greater chance of success doing those things, it wouldn't be Robinson.

I will readily admit he was a very good running QB, but there have been an absolute TON of good running QB's in college nevering amounting to anything.

Austin won't fall all the way to #21 and I wouldn't advocate trading up for him by any stretch, but if he were to fall, it would be a good pick.

Well...yeah...that would be why one is a top 15 pick and the other is a second-rounder on the best of boards. I'm OK with taking a flyer on a potential offensive playmaker in the third. Aside from Green, the offense is pretty average. I won't shed any tears if he's there and they pass, either. But I wouldn't be setting your TV on fire if they took him. ;)/>

While it wouldn't cause a TV to be set to flame, I would be very disappointed in seeing Robinson in stripes.

He doesn't project to ANY position. That's a hell of a problem for someone being considered as a 3rd round guy.

Higher ?? It's just more risk than I would be willing to take.

Guess it's good i'm not the one drafting players huh ??

Can he return punts better than Tate? Does he have the speed or elusiveness to be someone like Devin Hester? If not I would rather see them draft OL or a DB to begin refilling the pipe at that spot.

Adam Jones can return punts better than Tate, but he's not used as much in that capacity. I don't know why.

Again, we are talking about drafting a guy in the 3rd to do something he's never done before.

Not even remotely close.

I would have no problem with him later in the draft, but certainly not in the 3rd.

Probably because losing Jones to an injury would have been far more devastating than losing Tate.

I really hate "what ifs".

That's why you have that thing called depth.

I mean, what if another player gets hurt ??

What if, what if ??

Have the guy most capable of doing the task DO IT.

No one is asking Green or Dalton to that and it's not like they couldn't replace Jones.

I'd rather see Jones get hurt doing something he can change a game doing, then filling a role.

If Jones hadn't been taking a ton of snaps on defense, I'd agree with you. But, he played a pretty vital role last year, especially once they realized they were going to be without Kirkpatrick. Jones was on the field a LOT, and he's already shown a tendency towards hamstring injuries. Remember that mega-long punt return he had against Seattle that then caused him to struggle with injuries for the rest of the season?

It should also be mentioned that Tate returned a punt for a TD in the same game. It's not like the guy is incapable. He just made a couple of bonehead decisions back there that drew the ire of an entire fanbase. Understandable, of course, but the Bengals coaches obviously felt they could eliminate those and be left with a very capable returner (which Tate is).

I get what you are saying and agree, but I just want more.

Then again, who doesn't ??

That and I really dislike Tate.

It's funny how Binns and Tate were competing for the No. 2 spot last year. Binns didn't make it to the bye week before he was released and Tate did not impress enough to hold of the three-headed monster of Hawkins, Sanu and M. Jones. It makes me wonder if these coaches truly believe their own crap or just say it and hope the player makes the most of the opportunity.

Based on that disaster, I wouldn't be surprised if they draft a WR with their first or second pick. Two reasons...one is to compliment Green and two to potentially replace Green should he prove too costly to resign.

I wouldn't be surprised if they took a WR at 21. Reedy's mock had them passing on both Patterson and Allen, which is something I could see only if they managed to get MB gagged and straight-jacketed.
