deekster Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Hey people enjoy this win, as the next time you see a win will be next year, because this "Offensive Line" as far as pass protecting, is about as bad as it gets, and because of these "Bufoons", this is their last win of this year. I have given them the eye test for the past 4 games and it is the same old s**t. They cannot pass block anybody. To make it worse, Gresham is playing like he is scared to catch a ball, and Andy Dalton looks like a Carson Palmer clone. This team again has lost it's discipline. One stupid penalty after another when they get moving down the field. I could go on and on about this team that has slowly turned itself into a Barnum & Bailey Circus. Thank God for the defense, but defense alone will not overcome the ineptness of this sorry offense.P.S. Sorry for the typos in my header. I was in a hurry to vent :frustrated: Quote
Spor_tees Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Damn only Bengal fans can be negative minded when they win by 21 points...can't we just relish in the moment for an hour? Quote
volcom69 Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 To me they looked tired, maybe it's from playing only a couple days ago. Run blocking has been pretty good, oh and once again Gruden gets away from the run game way to soon, just happy he found it again. So ill give it this mini bye week to get fresh and will see how they look. Chad Johnson Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Are you absolutely kidding? Your eye test? Thanks for letting us in on your football genious. The o line played terrible tonight true. Boling played bad against dallas. But before that according to pff(they use more than eye test) boling and zietler and andre smith (who most of the posters on here have a hard on for hating) were all on their probowl cheat sheet. I think everyone knows whit is damn good but other big names are in the afc( dbrickshaw ferguson, jake long joe thomas and ryan clady) also if you check out their o line rankings we have been in top 10 all season. With pass blocking being way better than run blocking. Quote
HoosierCat Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 The o-line deserves every brickbat being hurled at them in the wake of last night's horrible performance. They were a complete and total train wreck. That said, I agree with volcom that they looked gassed. It's easy to forget that over the span of 11 days they played three games, two of them on the road and one of those all the way out in San Diego. On the way in to work this morning I turned on the Jets Homer & Notre Dame Homer show and they had Bill Polian on, and part of the conversation was about making Thursday games better later in the season. Polian said his experience with Thursday night games is that after week 8 or so teams playing Thursday games are just running on fumes, and that if you expanded the playoffs by 2 teams and extended the schedule you could arrange things so that teams playing on Thursday late in the season would be coming off byes. That would, he believes, boost the quality of the games. I don't know if I like all those ideas, but last night was certainly not an advertisement for quality football on Thursday nights. Quote
membengal Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Yup, as bad as the line looked, and it was horrible, impossible for me to look at that and not wonder about that very effect - that many games in a short span with one on the west coast. Frankly, its the same thing that has been noted by other fanbases as their teams have gone through it.Its why I can't get too worked up over it.I simply wanted them to survive and find a way to win last night so this next week's game would be meaningful. They did that. Time for them to rest until Monday. Quote
volcom69 Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Whit also left with an illness or concussion, so he was not himself. Quote
walzav29 Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Missed game. Were they rotating Cook and Robinson? If so, I'll blame that. You don't mess with the cohesion of the o-line. Quote
TJJackson Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Can I get a "GIMME A LINEMAN"HallelujhahZeitler left late and was replaced by CookBoling looked terribleI do really hope the prevailing thought here - they were tired - is true. As a group, they looked really, really bad Quote
ArmyBengal Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 All that playing different positions with different people CAN'T be as simple as just moving one person here or there.Especially when you consider Cook has only been back for his 2nd game of the season.Good God !!! Quote

I mainly saw Cook in there and I think Marvin, given these line issues, just needs to stick with what got him here (Robinson) and get Cook his reps next summer. I think some cohesion was lost when he started moving Cook into the lineup Quote
volcom69 Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Marvin Lewis just said there will be no more pass protection issues, so there's your answer I guess lol.No but they really did look dead out there like there was no energy at all from that group. I agree why fix what wasn't broken and let Robinson play the year out, musical centers is not the issue. I think they took guys out after they were up, plus I think they needed a break. Quote

After they watch the tape I think we will see a lot more of Robinson next Sunday. Quote

We'll soon see if they pass Quote
TJJackson Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 anyone know why Zeitler came out late? Quote
membengal Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 My not intentionally snarky guess... Three games in eleven days. Quote
HoosierCat Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 Per PFF Zeitler's numbers have been slipping steadily for the last four or so weeks. I suspect he has hit the rookie wall. Quote
Spor_tees Posted December 14, 2012 Report Posted December 14, 2012 I've been arguing all week, leave the line alone...they didn't listen and started tinkering with it. Dalton paid the price. Quote
HoosierCat Posted December 15, 2012 Report Posted December 15, 2012 The tinkering isn't the issue. The issue is we have a lot of young guys and it's a long season. Zeitler's a rookie, this is Boling's first full rodeo as well and it's just the second time Moobs has made it this far. Playing around at center may have exacerbated matters, but it wasn't the cause. If it was because the guys are nicked up and tired, they shouldn't have been in the game with a 21 point lead and 7 minutes to go. It was dumb. With less than five minutes to go, the Bengals threw a screen pass to Gresham and it looked like he got hurt. Once again, not smart for a team with only 2 TEs and zero healthy FBs. I think its about time to send Whalen somewhere else and bring in an HB or a FB. Its been luck that the team lasted this long with the current roster configuration. Quote
cincy9275 Posted December 15, 2012 Report Posted December 15, 2012 no question we got our asses handed to us yesterday. the good thing is they have a long week to rest get ready for s**tsburg. then please marvin let robinson play the whole game. he clearly is the better player and the best player should start. We can't jettison Whalen. Is Faine still on the roster? Quote
