In-Season Roster Adjustments

Seeing the injuries yesterday to so many starters in the league, I thought it might serve a purpose to consolidate all Bengals "in-Season" roster activity to one thread.

With that, I will toss out a zany idea.

I'd like to see the Bengals pick-up Josh Johnson, formerly QB with the 49rs. They got Kapernick and he became expendable but brings some really nice upside. He is a different QB than Dalton, and could mean difference between winning some games, should Dalton ever end up hurt, and losing. I note this in light of RG3 destorying the Saints yesterday.

Gradkowski is barely an avg #2 QB. He has little upside, and is prone to lots of mistake. Johnson has a big arm, can make plays with his legs, and adds another dimension to this offense.

Next, is it official that Cook is IR'd for the year?

Also, does anyone know Dunlap's status for tonight?

Cook is not IRd for the year. It's for the 8 game thing or however long it is.

I still the most physical LB should be starting and Muck and Burfict were those guys. I'm not sure how unless they move Rey, but those two guys should start. I'm also happy that Muck is back.

How about using Lawson like a Peter Boulware type let him play DE, and some LB ad a pass rush specialist? Just a thought. I just think the LB need to play more physical and not get knocked off the ball so quick.

I think you're right. I bet Muckleroy gets more than just special teams play here very shortly. Muckleroy, V. Rey, and especially Burfict are all more on the playmaking side. The D-line needs to do it's job and free up them to be reactive and make plays.

I like Howard alot but if Zimmer allows himself to be creative with the talent he has, the Bengals can come out of this ok, if not better than before.

Yep I just hope they are not afraid to try new players. I truly think if they let the young guys play they will fly to the ball and make plays, kind of like Reys rookie year. There is talent on the defense a lot of young guys. Another thing I would love to see are 3 safeties in the game sometimes with Mays playing up like a LB, and Miles playing back. I just hope they get creative.

Bring up DeQuin.

Take a long look at Emmanuel Lamur as a WILL possibility.

Burfict to MIKE.

Rey? Maybe he can make an impact on teams.

Too harsh?

Not at all and i like that, i also think Muck can play good physical defense as well. Thats what this team needs and soon, this defense will not last with guys who cant tackle, or who are playing soft. Get younger out there this secondary is bad, but the front 7 is just as bad if not worse. Put pressure on the QB and maybe the secondary wont be so bad, just a thought.

One thing that worries me is that they are into deep with Rey, meaning maybe they like him to much and will continue to give him chances, i dont know.

Well Anderson is on IR

They bring in DE Wallace Gilberry, he has 14 career sacks had 7 of them in 2010 with the chiefs. Not sure if it's a good move or not but guess ok for a backup. Still was hoping for Carter who had 10 sacks last year.

Still think they should bring Evens up from the PS and cut the TE they don't use.

Carter was in Oakland today so I knew that it wouldn't be him. I think that TE will be gone when Moch comes back. Then, Whalen will probably be gone when Sims comes back. This guy seems pretty serviceable though.

Just searching around the internet on this guy PFF had him as one of the most underrated DE. They said he is a high motor guy that will get TFL, and in 2010 had a big year with 7 sacks, as a rotational guy. So with what was out there, and Carter maybe signing in Oakland, maybe they found themselves somebody pretty good for the rotation. Another thing, he might be able to move inside to DT, if need be. He was a 3-4 DE, for the chiefs, and Alabama, but so far from what i see maybe he wont be to bad.....i hope.
