HoosierCat Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Per WNST Baltimore, Bengals @ Ravens on MNF week 1./>http://wnst.net/wordpress/baltimore-ravens/ravens-to-open-season-hosting-cincinnati-on-monday-night/After publicly campaigning to play a Monday night game in Baltimore, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti will finally get his wish. The Ravens will open the season by welcoming the AFC North rival Cincinnati Bengals to town in a nationally-televised game on Monday, Sept. 10. It will be the first Monday night game played in Baltimore since the Ravens played the Patriots on Dec. 3, 2007, a game in which New England won in the closing seconds to remain undefeated.Stay with WNST.net throughout the evening, follow WNST on Twitter, and be sure you’re subscribed to the WNST Text Service to have the entire schedule sent to your mobile device as the NFL announces it at 7:00 p.m.Works for me! Scottishbengal Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 I've not managed to find anything, anywhere giving a sniff of whats coming up (apart from the season opener NYG vs Dallas). Starting the season with a divisional match isn't a new nor unusual thing, and if we do go to Baltimore for the Week 1 game AND it's a Monday Night game then fine, I'm happy with that . Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 If I didn't miss anything skimming pro football reference, the Bengals have opened vs. a division rival 4 times in the Marvin era: 2x against the Browns, 2x against the Ravens. They have a 3-1 record in those games, including a MNF defeat of the Ravens at PBS back in 2007. So that bodes well if this report is true. Quote
Scottishbengal Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 Our road record was better than our home record last season so I hope we continue to play well out of Cincy. And, if we are on a Monday Night chances are pretty high it'll be picked up by one of the British channels and shown live over here (Channel 4, Channel 5, ESPN??, - SKY will probably stick to the Sunday night double headers). Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Maybe I will be the only one who doesn't want to see them open with a division rival not named the Browns, on the road, and in primetime.Who knows, maybe it will be something for them to get up for, but I would rather see on the road against Washington or something of that nature. Nah, no beer for me - driving tomorrow morning .....just a mug of hot tea. Boy I'm really excited about the schedule release, need the info to start costing out the trip !!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 Steelers @ Chicago in week 1 Suday night game (apparantly)It appears it's actually Steelers @ Broncos. So Pitt gets to be the first to face Manning Mark II. Quote
Scottishbengal Posted April 17, 2012 Author Report Posted April 17, 2012 Is it a recent thing that the final game of the season is a divisional game? If so, we start with a divisional (rumoured), and end with a divisional.......so I hope we avoid a 4 game streak of divisionals somewhere in the middle like we had last year. I know you gotta play 'em all at some stage but 4 divisionals in a row was tough Quote

bwillycuse Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 good opportunity to get to a fast start Quote
Stripes Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 I quite like the soft early schedule, that should set them up to get in the race. Starting with that first Steelers game though it gets really tough almost every single week. Quote
combatbengal Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 We should be 5-1 or 6-0 when we play the Steelers in week 7!!! We better win week 12's game. I want to see Palmer go down to the Dalton gang!!OMG, who did we tick off, the last three games are against the Eagles, Steelers and Ravens!!! Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 OMG, who did we tick off, the last three games are against the Eagles, Steelers and Ravens!!!I think that's true of everyone now. Remember the league now adjusts the sked to discourage teams resting guys late in the year. This is as good a sked as I could ask for. As has already been noted by several others the bengals have a chance to pile up a few wins early before it gets tough. They just have to do a better job on the back 9 than they did in 2011. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 They have to do a better job against the Steelers and Ravens this season as well.I know they made the playoffs with out beating them last year, but lets not pretend that's a given year in and year out either.Yes, staying strong down the stretch is certainly something to improve. Quote
HoosierCat Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 Some schedule trivia:Bengals are 4-5 on opening day under Marvin. However, they are 3-1 vs. the AFCN, 1-4 vs. everyone else. The division record includes the MNF win over the Ravens at PBS. They have played the Ravens in Baltimore on opening day before, and lost.Week 2 is a good week to be home. In the Marvin era, Bengals are 4-1 at home, 1-3 away in week 2.Week 3 they play the NFC as usual (5 of the last 9 seasons). Bengals are 2-3 vs. the NFC in week 3 under Lewis.Week 4 -- Bengals have never played an away game in week 4 that wasn't an AFCN game in the Lewis era until this year. Bengals are .500 on the road, 2-3 at home in week 4 under Marvin, so there's that.More as I get around to it... Quote
kingwilly Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 I am liking the schedule. Dont want to sleep on a competitive AFC west. Plus NFC east could be dangerous or terrible. I think we.could go 9-7, or 10-6. Will have to go look at Pit and Baltimore schedules.Liking the idea of a Carson Turkey holiday weekend, and a game @SD (whales vagina), can get to the game and have a great day. Might mean something, too. Quote
