volcom69
Report: Gruden ExtendedLocal 6 Sports Director David Pingalore has learned that Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden signed a three year extension with the Bengals to remain in that position. Pingalore's NFL sources confirm the deal is worth 3.6 million dollars. The extension doubles the salary Gruden made in his first year with the Bengals.Gruden, was considered by some NFL teams looking for a head coach but Gruden decided to remain with the Bengals to gain more experience.Gruden, the younger brother of former Buccaneers and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden, was the head coach of the Orlando Predators and the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League.Interesting, good to know though. So sounds like if he wants he will be around for awhile.
Sea Ray
$1.2mill sounds like good money for an OC. Nice to see MB step up
HoosierCat
Still no official confirmation but the deal would be in line with what Zimmer got when he was extended. If true props to the FO for keeping the good decisions going in 2012. cincyhokie
Good deal for him. He can still leave for a HC position at anytime he wants. This was more of the Bengals showing their appreciation which is a great thing. We'll see how long Gruden stays if he continues to be productive. walzav29
He's setting himself up. What he did was a miracle considering the time crunch. I ca 't wait to see what he can do with an entire offseason with the players. Knowing their strengths and weakness. I think Ced annoyed Gruden to death. I can't wait to get a better back. Even when they were winning Ced was pouting.
COB
Gruden's new deal makes me think they are keeping the door open to promote Gruden to HC after next season if Marvin uses the whole season's worth of challenges in the first half of game one or whatever. The bottom line is. Marv has performed miracles with Mike as the owner, but he hasn't won a playoff game and hasn't had back to back playoff seasons. There is NO reason they shouldn't go back to the playoffs in 2013. Have to get a win. I can't wait to see what Dalton does. His year must have been insane. Rose Bowl, Senior Bowl, Combine, Draft, Lockout, Marriage, starting QB, then playoffs. That's alot. Now he can just focus on learning the entire playbook, and just play. It's gonna be great. jjakq27
http://www.orlandose...0,135577.column"Mr. Brown and Coach Lewis were gracious enough to give me this opportunity," Gruden said. "They went out on a limb and hired me and I didn't want to leave at the first job thrown at me."
ArmyBengal
Much respect for Gruden and the loyalty shown for those who really did go out on a limb.Had the offense failed, the amount of sh*t would have been ridiculous.I'm happy for Gruden, but thinking the Colts would liked to have seen what he could do with Luck. Also happy for Dalton and the gang on offense. Continuity isn't a bad thing.
