HairOnFire Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) I think it's remarkable how many Bengal fans are claiming the Bengals will beat the Steelers this week. The reasons most often given range from familiarity between foes, a suddenly depleted Steeler O-line, and a possible Steeler letdown after last weeks grudge match against the Ravens, a game Baltimore gave away in a stupid manner Bengal fans would easily recognize. Well, we can apparently scratch the letdown factor from the list thanks to TO and Ocho repeatedly running their mouths on their crappy television show. Thanks TO!Who's soft? Ben has look of hockey playerBy F. Dale Lolley, Staff writer, dlolley@observer-reporter.com12/9/2010 PITTSBURGH - With his broken nose taped as heavily as his injured right foot, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger took to the practice field Wednesday as the Steelers prepared for its second meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals.Roethlisberger, who had surgery on the nose Monday after it was broken by Haloti Ngata in last week's 13-10 victory at Baltimore, didn't look "soft," as he was called by Cincinnati receiver Terrell Owens a few weeks ago after being sucker punched by Richard Seymour in a win over Oakland."A hockey player would have took that and kept on ticking," said Owens on his weekly television show with fellow wideout Chad Ochocinco. "It just shows you how soft Ben is."Roethlisberger said Wednesday he got an endorsement from perhaps the world's greatest hockey player on the state of his broken nose."Mario Lemieux told me I finally look like a hockey player," Roethlisberger said.Roethlisberger, still smarting from Owens' comment and his injuries, suffered the broken nose on the Steelers' first series against the Ravens. He did not miss a snap at Baltimore and seems particularly motivated by Owens' comments to beat the Bengals."I guess I'm soft or something," said Roethlisberger. "To me, it wasn't a question that I was going back in. I asked the trainers if there is any chance this would get any worse if I practice today. They said no. I just want to win games and try to win championships."The latter part of that comment was aimed specifically at Owens. The Bengals have lost nine consecutive games to fall to 2-10, while the Steelers improved to 9-3 with their win at Baltimore.Roethlisberger tried out a visor on his helmet at practice and has gotten the OK from the NFL play with it against the Bengals, hoping to avoid another shot to his face.Read more here: http://www.observer-reporter.com/or/localsports/12-09-2010-TO-Roethlisberger-feud Edited December 10, 2010 by HoosierCat Because Hair can't read the board rules. DC_Bengals_Fan Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 If there's a reason for them to win, it's that they will actually try because it's Pissburgh week. We've known all along this team has the damn talent.Could I see them getting their sh!t together to eek out a win over a beat-up, worn out s**tsburgh team? Sure can. Could also see a pissed-off bunch of Stoolers taking out their aggression against a Bengals team that doesn't have anything at stake. In other words, who the hell knows? Quote
COB Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 double post ruminating on what sort of excrement surgeons may have implanted in Ben's skull to take up space where his brain used to be. Quote
COB Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 I'm not sure what Ben's nose is made of. After he had his face reconstructed post header into old person's car, they may very well have used some prosthetic material to give his nose some shape. I'm pretty sure they filled his cranium with cow s**t. Not sure why I think that, I guess it's just that he's too stupid just to have s**t for brains. So maybe cow s**t. Quote
BengalPimp Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 If the Bengals were still in the playoff hunt, here's what i would do (keep in mind this would be purely confidential between teammates)Take up a collection to cover the $25,000 or so fine for a helmet-to-helmet hit and tell anyone who can get to Ben to smack him head on right in the nose....their fine will be covered. That said, it won't happen....not because it's not ethical, but because this team simply doesn't have anyone (even Dunlap) who can even get to Ben....depleted O-Line or not.I normally wouldn't condone this type of behavior, but we're talking about a piece of sh*t rapist.....Break his nose again for one of his victims... combatbengal Posted December 10, 2010 Report Posted December 10, 2010 Here’s the deal. Right now we’re 2-10 and we have the number 2 draft pick locked in. Every year that we’re in this situation, they start to win so that they don’t end up with a top 5 pick. Why? Because MB doesn’t want to shell out the money for that top pick.2nd point, No matter who the Bengals play, the best team in the NFL or the worst, we always come and play at that teams level. We can’t blow people out and yet we won’t let ourselves get blown out. The game will be close and then we’ll lose it at the end. I’m not sure we’ll win another game this year and that’s fine with me because I want a top pick. I want the Bengals to shell out money for whoever we select. Is one player going to turn this team around? No, but taking money from the Brown family will make me feel good. Quote

Nothing can help this pathetic piece of trash we call a team...Two words... Cam Newton.Three Words: No Thank YouSome More Words: The guy only has 1 year of D1 experience, You're talking about a guy who will take time to develop and there's no guarantee that he will. He needs to work on his accuracy, and needs to know that he can't just take off and run like he did in college. The speed of the game is much faster in the NFL than in college, and you're playing against bigger and better players weekly. To me, Cam Newton is a huge question mark, and definitely not deserving of a Top 3 pick (where we should be drafting). If you look at the young QB's selected high the past few years who have had some early success (Ryan, Bradford, Stafford, Sanchez, Flacco) They all had more than 1 year as a Starter, with Sanchez being the least experienced (although he did get valuable playing time as a Soph). I'm not saying Newton is Akili Smith (another guy with only 1 year as a D1 starter) but that experience is HUGE. Newton may be an exciting player, but I just don't think he'll be a great NFL QB. Forget what he does with his feet (because he sure as hell won't be doing that in the NFL) look what he does with his arm....***Newton ONLY had 2 games (out of 13) where he passed for over 250 yards.....One was against the powerhouse that is UT-Chattanooga, and the other was last game against South Carolina***Newton has not attempted more than 28 Passes in a game (with him having attempted 20 or fewer in 8 of 13 games)...By comparison, Carson has not attempted fewer than 33 Passes in any game this season***Newton has had at least 15 carries in 9 of 13 games...That doesnt fly in the NFL, by comparison Michael Vick (the QB most likely to run) hasn't had more than 11 carries in a game this season, and Newton is no Vick.Bottomline: Newton had a great year, but his game doesn't translate to NFL success. It may eventually, but he needs time to learn, more game experience, and has to be willing to work hard and adjust his style to the NFL game. I'd like to see him do it at least one more year in college, work on his passing a little more, but he no doubt will take the NFL money. He's just too raw as a NFL QB prospect. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted December 11, 2010 Report Posted December 11, 2010 Bottomline: Newton had a great year, but his game doesn't translate to NFL success. Like Carson Palmer's stellar college career took him to great success in the NFL. Quote

Like Carson Palmer's stellar college career took him to great success in the NFL. Pre-Injuries it did...Let's not forget the 2 Pro Bowls, Leading the NFL in TD passes and Completion % in '05, 2nd in TD passes in '06 and 4,000 yd sseasons in '06 & '07.....Carson was well on his way to being a great NFL QB....He may not be that player anymore, due to knee/elbow injuries, but he WAS a great QB before that elbow injury in '08.Plus, I noticed you conveniently ignored the points I made about Newton P.S. I would vote for Carson for the Hall Of Fame simply because of what he was able to accomplish with the WORST OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR EVER IN THE NFL. Could you imagine how badly Brat would F*ck up Newton? Quote

This team will not win with him. He has so many weapons this year and he can't make it work. His clock management skills suck. He throws into triple coverage, calls audible that run into the blitz.... Stick a fork in him, He’s done!. Hell, pay me millions and I’ll go out there and throw into triple coverage all day long! Shoot I'll do it for the league minimum! Quote

wpeldios Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Stick with Carson. Fairley in the first, Pouncey in the second.I would get behind this comepletely. If you put any qb behind this line they will suffer the same fate as David Carr or Klingler. You just cant let anyone get hit that much, let alone a young guy. Unfortunately It doesnt appear that any elite LT prospects will be available in this draft. So move down or work on the defensive front.I still say this teams needs list goes OL, OL, OL, Safety, WR, DT, Saftey before Qb even gets mentioned. That said all that + long term QB, Power RB, Pass Rusher are all needs so you take the best available at any of those positions. And Qb will not be best available in my mind. Quote
