combatbengal
On Monday night football, they said that the 1970 Bengals went 1-6 and then came back and won the division with a 8-6 record. It was a 14 game season.
combatbengal
I looked it up and it was true. Paul Brown was the coach. We went 5-2 at home, 3-4 on road.
Stripes
Beat Miami and set up a meaningful Monday Night game the following week.
jjakq27
Beat out the Browns for the first ever AFC Central crown. They became the fastest expansion team to make the playoffs (three years). I think Jacksonville later tied that record.Virg Carter was the QB after Greg Cook failed to recover from his 1969 injury. This was the birthplace of the Mill Creek (West Coast) Offense. Carter did not have the big arm that Cook did but was very accurate. Bill Walsh began devising a scheme that used a lot of screens and short routes to take advantage of his skills. It all grew from that.Happy 40th Anniversary! ArmyBengal
Come back ??Sorry, but no. Not in the AFC and not against the AFCN.Is it possible they win some more games and make things interesting ??Sure it is, but I just don't see them doing enough to get to the playoffs.Don't get me wrong. I will be cheering them on and hoping against hope they make it happen.I hope I am very wrong and they go on a massive win streak. I'm simply not optimistic.Check the patients pulse doctor:___/\____/\____/\_______________________________________________________________I'm sorry, we've lost'em... walzav29
What I hate is that absolutely are capable of winning every game. The problem is they are under achieving. At this point I just want a season. I'm going to watch anyway, SO if the Bengals win Sunday and the Steelers lose @ New Orleans. Then the Bengals beat Pittsburgh.Cincy - 4-4Pittsburgh 5-3So I'm saying there's a chance.
bwillycuse
If the bengals come back and have a chance to make the playoffs I would be very surprised.Extremely happy, but surprised. We all know an ything is possible, but with all the mistakes and bumbling and the lack of intensity. I don't see how it can happen.Im hoping but not putting any money on it. semiotter
wow isnt it funny how many of the good teams from last year, Minn., dallas, cincy, new orleans, san deigo suck this year and have most of the players they had last year... kenyon1977
I posted this somewhere else. I'm not giving up by no means. I think with the way the NFL is and the injury bug that gets every single team the Bengals can still make it to the playoffs. They can easily still go 10-6 for the division, or depending on how the other teams in the AFC definitely have a shot at the wildcard at 9-7.The Colts though really good have showed signs that they are not the same team anymore and without Dallas Clark are suspect-able to an upset. Is Tamme really going to fill Clarks' shoes? The Jets are over rated. However it is a night game in NY so any momentum there way early would be a loss. The Saints just got their asses handed to them by the Browns, loss to the Falcons and Cardinals and barley beat Carolina. The Bills undoubtedly are one of the worse teams in the NFL trumping the Raiders. Yesterday was an anominally. We play the Chargers at home instead of traveling to their s**thole which is usually as bad for the team as the Generals playing the Globetrotters. The Steelers beat Baltimore once and have to play them again and also get to play the red hot Patriots who for some reason look better without Moss. Plus they have to play the Bengals 2 times which can be a huge 2 game swing in the Bengals favor.Baltimore already has lost to the Bengals and the Patriots and still have Houston, Miami, and Tampa Bay (according to their coach they are the best NFC team.).SO I'm not giving up just yet and think they can still make the playoffs. If TO gets that left foot down or Benson doesn't fumble untouched yesterday I think a lot of people's opinions would be greatly different today. The offense did manage to put up a whole mess of yards yesterday against a team that a lot of the talking heads out there have ordained to the SuperBowl already. walzav29
And of cours the 1993 Oilers. They started 1-4 and won the next 10. I ran my mouth so much, that the amounts of crow that I am now consuming is just too much. Why can't the offense just blow up and the D get's back to where they were last year?
