NYBengalfan Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Like stated in previous threads.. this has been a near perfect offseason so far, despite Fat Andre, (which the only thing he is in shape for is to challenge Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi in a hot dog eating contest.) Don't wanna jinx it.. but i like the rest of you have high expectations this year. We have the 4th toughest schedule in the league going into this year, but that really doesnt mean anything before the season, teams change from year to year, it has more value once the season starts and you see where everyone else is. With that being said what do you think that our record will be?? Personally like Carson stated, I feel there isnt a team on here that we cant beat. This is our best team since '88( I believe).Week 1 New England(away)Week 2 Baltimore(home)Week 3 Carolina(away)Week 4 Cleveland(away)Games 1-4: I believe we can start this season 4-0 at best, worst case scenario 2-2. I think that we'll beat NE at their place, and despite what the pundits say, I will say this right now.. WE ARE BETTER THAN BALTIMORE.. GET OFF THEIR NUTS!! Flacco is really overrated because of his arm strength Carolina and Cleveland.. i wont waste my time. Expecting 3-1 or 4-0 in this stretch.. leaning towards 4-0Week 5 Tampa Bay(home)Week 6 BYEWeek 7 Atlanta(away)Week 8 Miami(Home)Weeks 5-8: Tampa we should beat 99 times out of 100.. should win that one. I have a feeling we'll lose a game in the ATL or MIA stretch, just not sure which one.. expecting 2-1, the better team doesnt always win every week in this league. More like a loss for the sake of losses, cant win every game??( Maybe ????)Week 9 Pittsburgh(home)Week 10 Indianapolis(away)Week 11 Buffalo(home)Week 12 NY Jets(away)Weeks 9-12: I fully expect to beat Pittsburgh twice this year, Indy has had our number, and surprisingly Buffalo has even had our number even though they have had some awful teams, and the Jets we owe some serious payback!! Lose to Indy, beat PIT, BUF and a big win vs the Jets on Turkey day!!!But we will play the Colts again later in the season.Week 13 New Orleans(home)Week 14 Pittsburgh(away)Week 15 Cleveland(home)Week 16 San Diego(home)Week 17 Baltimore(away)Weeks 13-17: New Orleans wont be easy, but for some reason, Im really lookin forward to playing the defending champs and beating them. PIT like I stated, we are flat out better than this year too. CLE again, why waste my breath. SD always gives us trouble, we can beat them, same as Baltimore in their place, as previously stated.. losing for the sake of a loss, we'll win one and lose one and finish...12-4I say we get to the Conference title game and play in a rematch at Indy. And what happens there, I dont have the balls to predict. This could be our year. Quote
kingwilly Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Bold predictions above.I can see this team going anywhere from 11-5, with a big push at the end, or as low as 9-7.I think there is simply too much talent to finish less than 9-7.On the outside, if the passing game clicks, this team could stun the world and pull a 13-3. Quote
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I'd have put the over/under at 10.5. Then, I checked Bodog, and - get this - it's 8. Seriously. Eight f**king wins. To be fair, it's 8 at -140, so (if I read that right) they think we're a good 8 win team. The sched is the sched, but that number looks insanely, appallingly low. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I'll jump out and say 11-5. If this team gels sooner rather than later with the offense finding itself, WATCH OUT !!!NYBengalFan, nice breakdown... Quote
NYBengalfan Posted August 4, 2010 Author Report Posted August 4, 2010 i still feel that we are a more defensive team, with another year in coach Zimmer's system its natural to think things will get better. We didnt lose anyone and we have made solid pickups through the draft and FA's. And I heard we brought in this receiver who is pretty good.. some guy named Terrell Owens..lol. But I just feel our D will be just as good as last yr and our O has only made improvments. 85 and 81 together on the same field will only make things easier for Cedric, who by the way will be playing a full season. He may not see 8 in the box all yr, so if you are big on fantasy draft him early second round. I just feel big things are on the horizon, and just can not wait. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 As hard as it is to believe, the defense also made improvements.Carlos Dunlap, and Geno Atkins will help the d-line and if Adam Jones stays good as the 3rd CB, that's nice with Ghee providing depth!!!I'm also interested to see what Gibril Wilson will do moving back the safety position he played while with the Giants. Stripes Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I'd like to see how we perform in the pre-season games before I think too much about it. There's also still the risk of training camp/exhibition injuries. Based on where we sit right now though, I'm comfortable with an 11-5 prediction. And let it be known, 11-5 against that schedule is Super Bowl contention. Quote
BengalPimp Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 I really believe 11-5 is a good prediction, but my guess would be 10-6 against this schedule with our Kicker blowing the chance at 11-5 or 12-4. Barring injuries, even with the tough schedule, I just don't see this team finishing worse than 10-6..... I also think that the Bengals will be playing in the AFC Championship game, and hopefully the SuperBowl....but we're just talking regular season here. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted August 4, 2010 Report Posted August 4, 2010 Gotta love all the high expectations headed into the season.I agree with needing to wait and see how the preseason works out, but yes from where we are right now, 11-5.Should we be considered as a Super Bowl contender ?? As already stated, if we go 11-5 against that schedule, YES... Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 As always I shall wait until I see at least a couple pre-season game before venturing a guess. Quote
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted August 5, 2010 Report Posted August 5, 2010 ...my guess would be 10-6 against this schedule with our Kicker blowing the chance at 11-5 or 12-4. Wait, we re-signed Shayne?????You're damn right I went there! Quote
BigBenBlows Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 I would like to think 13-3 is doable but I realize it's a little bit bold. I would be happy with 11-5. I think thats good enough for a division title Quote
whizzo Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 13-3 would be possible, if all goes well. 11-5 seems more reasonable though. Quote
Stripes Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 I fear the offensive line could hold us back from a season quite that great. Quote
membengal Posted August 8, 2010 Report Posted August 8, 2010 I fear the offensive line could hold us back from a season quite that great. That's why picking before seeing some preseason games is rather premature.Need to see how the line is gel'ing. Need to see if Andre can get back. Some questions to answer. Quote
HairOnFire Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 I can see this team going anywhere from 11-5, with a big push at the end, or as low as 9-7.I think there is simply too much talent to finish less than 9-7.On the outside, if the passing game clicks, this team could stun the world and pull a 13-3. Stun the world seems about right because I'm guessing a record of 11-5 is the best we can hope for, not because the schedule is so difficult, but rather...the passing game isn't likely to be ready anytime soon. vettespd20 Posted August 9, 2010 Report Posted August 9, 2010 LAST NIGHTS GAME MEANT NOTHING!!!! We will go 12-4 Quote
