I'm surprised this guy went as high as 6th round. Anyone check his Scouting Combine results? He is at the low end of every category; speed, agility, strength, etc. Maybe he had a high Wonderlic score. My bet is Simpson will beat him out. That's sad.

Outside of the Light turning on I doubt any chance jerome makes the team and May be one of the First WR's cut with Chris Davis...

On the side, God knows the combine makes all the difference in the world right ??

In three years:

31 TD's

3,240 yards

14.8 YPC

Seems like we got alot of productive Players for the most part,Hard to argue with those numbers for guy selected in 6th round...Sure he ran a slow 40 but how many WR's did? plus gily ran a 4.6 too no?

Well, people are giving the pick an "A". While I don't know if I agree with an "A", yes, I like the pick and think he has the chance of making a bigger impact on this team sooner rather than much later.

I'm not going to argue that he isn't a decent player. I'm Also almost 100% sure he'll make the team.

My question is, under what circumstances will he possibly make any impact?

He's got poor acceleration, average speed, bad hands, and doesn't know how to run good routes. Who will he play in front of? I can't remember the lasttime the Bengals used a 5WR set, and even then, I don't think he's good enough to be on the field.

Perhaps if he at least was the kind of guy who stretches the field, I'd be okay with it. But nope. He's just another guy who grades out as a decent redzone weapon. So how many of those do the Bengals have now? No deep threat, but Bryant, Gresham, Coffman, Matt Jones, and now Briscoe.

And how much upside is there? Maybe some, but not enough to address any of the screams that the bengals will need a 1st round WR soon... because like it or not, the real problem with the vertical passing game remains unaddressed.

He builds to speed more than being explosive or instant but does show a gear to pull away once he gets even with defenders and can run down some deep balls. PS,Though I still like Caldwell just pointing out even though he ran fast you don't see That Speed on game day.

Per New Era Scouting

Has poor acceleration and takes awhile to get up to speed. Doesn’t burst into and out of his cuts. Top-end speed is ordinary for a wide receiver. Doesn’t have a second gear to break away and gets tracked down from behind.

Struggles greatly with inconsistency catching the ball. Is tentative going over the middle or if he anticipates a hit. Shorts arms too many passes. Not a tough receiver until he has the ball in his hands. Will make spectacular catches but drop the simplest of throws.

Will need to be heavily coached up on his route running. Unless Briscoe is using his body control and size, he struggles to get open. A majority of Briscoes routes were verticals down the sideline. Ran some slants and got good position on them.

Briscoe wasn't half the college player Caldwell was. How's that going to translate to the NFL? He doesn't have good timed speed OR game speed. He's nothing but a good leaper in the redzone. One dimensional player... and the dimension is not the thing the Bengals lack.

6th round? Ok... Big deal, right? But they got Scott at this point last year... and could have taken Blount, or anyone that might be useful.

Caldwell 2,175 yards 16 Touchdowns on one of best teams in college history in 4 years

Briscoe 3,240 Yards 31 Touchdowns on a not very good team IN 3 YEARS!

Once again 6th round pick thats some pretty damn good production "shrug"

I agree with the thought of Blount actually being the better pick, but then I've been saying that for a couple rounds now.

PS,Before the draft I seriously thought I'd be the person who would be pissed off Knee jerking etc :P Surprised I ended up one the positive people this year. lol
