DC_Bengals_Fan
If that 1.77 were the be all and end all of getting a deal done with JJoe, I'd say hell yeah, but I'm thinking that 1.77 isn't going to make a difference and they stand to gain far more at a position of question if Bryant can fully heal on IR. Simply put, paying another 1.77 for a healthy Bryant would be money well spent in my opinion when looking at the future of the WR position. One additional question - considering this guy is clearly damaged goods at this point, could they save money on the out years as well by simply cutting him, then re-signing him (if they want) at a lower price? I'm not sure how his contract is structured, but if the 7M/yr was reasonably spread out, I don't see him getting half that next year on the open market.Honestly, this guy was simply never worth $7M/year even if he hadn't had a screwed up knee. HairOnFire
The guy who did the physical has some 'splainin to do. This. Jason LaCanfora has repeatedly claimed there are differing medical opinions regarding Bryant within the same building, that some of the Bengals medical staff think his injury is career threatening while others think it's just a matter of having enough time to heal. It's easy to figure out who has won the debates so far.
kingwilly
The TO signing is making more sense now.As a smokescreen over the error of bringing Bryant in, it makes even more sense. And to think that Boldin and Marshall could have been had. Fudge.
HoosierCat
FWIW Schefter tweeted earlier today that the Bryant camp claims that the injury settlement rumors are false. Of course, that's what I'd expect them to say regardless, but take it for what you will.

OK...then that info should have played a role in contract negotiations. That guy is only worth $7M/yr on a good day when 100% healthy. Surely you apply a discount to that offer, right? Somehow I get the feeling that nobody offered near what the Bengals did. I just can't imagine offering that if there are credible people in the building who think it's a career killer. Or why you wouldn't make an offer to Boldin instead for only a little more, as Willy points out.But definitely score another one for the Bengals (on) crack medical staff. And for whoever thought it was a good idea to let him practice that one time.
