Rex Ryan is at it again saying that their defense will finish first if they add Adalius Thomas, and they will finish first without him.

I'm not saying their defense will or won't be #1... but that is a team built on defense, and they will be competitive because of it.

Last year, they had success because of a #1 defense, and a #1 rushing attack that complimented it. I can't remember the last time a team has changed so drastically from what brought them success.

Sure, Faneca wasn't elite in pass blocking anymore, but he was still a devastating run blocker.

Then they let their power RB walk away (Thomas Jones) who had over 1,400 yards last year. That's a lot harder to replace than the Jets make it seem.

Shonn Greene is powerful... but he only had 108 carries for 540 yards. Can he make the jump from 100 carries to 350?

L.T. and McKnight don't run with power... so they've essentially changed 2/3 of the strongest part of their offense, and have replaced it with more scat back/receiving type players.

Then they have WRs in Santonio and Braylon. The clearly want more from  Mark Sanchez. They've replaced that power running game, with a flashy finesse one, and are giving a downfield weapons to a guy who threw only 12 TDs and 20 INTs in 15 games last season.

Yeah, they've had an exciting offseason, but they've abandoned the formula that gave them success in the first place.
