Kazkal Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Not like he was going to make the active roster but I still liked the idea of him at Right Guard,But this injury probably seal his fate because he'll miss too much practice time that he really needs switching positions.Quote:SHIRLEY INJURED: Bengals guard Jason Shirley is feared lost for the season after undergoing surgery Monday to repair a torn Achilles. The 6-5, 338-pound Shirley apparently was injured playing in a charity basketball game with a team of Bengals over the weekend. Shirley, a defensive tackle taken in the fifth round out of Fresno State in 2008, moved to the offensive line early in the last training camp and was on the practice squad all year. He is looking at the very least at a six-month rehab, which would bring him to October. http://www.cincyjungle.com/2010/4/5/1407028/jason-shirley-has-surgery-to Quote
kingwilly Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 thats a bummer. Sad to see any of our guys go down. Quote
Wraith Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Shirley you must be kidding! Sorry just had to. Quote
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 There goes the season....C'mon now. I think people are more bummed for him than playing 'Chicken Little'.After seeing him on Hard Knocks, I was pulling for the guy. He straight-up stoned a few guys on running plays. Quote
Ickey44 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 I'm pulling for him, too. I think he'd make a great guard eventually. It sucks for him though, because he'll probably be released now. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Not to add insult to injury, but I really didn't see him making the team in any capacity this season after we draft a Guard.I hope he heals up and does good things, but all this really does is allow the team to put him on IR if they do that at all.Good luck Shirley... HairOnFire Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Sorry to hear about the injury but I never liked the experimental switch to offense in the first place, and would have cut Shirley the moment it became clear he couldn't make the roster as a DT. That said, for those who liked the switch the injury actually allows Shirley to hang around a bit longer....which was all he was likely to do for some time regardless of health. Quote

BengalPimp Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 I think most of us thought he was done back when they decided to try to make him an O-Lineman. Now after the injury, we know it. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted April 10, 2010 Report Posted April 10, 2010 Not sure I'd want my 6'5" 340 pound guy playing charity basketball if I'm an owner or coach, let alone point guard???Oh well. Quote
