BlainThePain
http://www.profootballweekly.com/2010/01/02/eagles-pick-jean-gilles-over-struggling-andrewsWe hear the Eagles' decision to go with Max Jean-Gilles over Stacy Andrews at right guard — Jamaal Jackson's season-ending ACL tear forced the team to move Nick Cole from guard to center to replace him — has something to do with Andrews' slow return from offseason knee surgery. But he also has struggled to grasp the team's offense and failed to show any of the spunk he did as a starter in Cincinnati. Jean-Gilles did not play all that well down the stretch last season before getting hurt, so it's particularly telling that he is getting the nod over Andrews. COB
Dude signed a 6 year, $38.9 million contract, then gets beat out by a second string guy? What happened? He wasn't that bad when he was here. Wait until the Eagles cut him in a year or two, then watch the Redeemer go snatch him up for cheap. Kazkal
Dodged a bullet?I would hope we were never in mindset he was worth 30million,I wonder if this hurts our comp pick for himDude signed a 6 year, $38.9 million contract, then gets beat out by a second string guy? HairOnFire
I wonder if this hurts our comp pick for him... The fact that Stacey sucked has no bearing on the comp pick. It's soley determined by contract size and length AND if your team lost more in FA than it gained. It's the latter point that might bite the Bengals since the NFL hasn't determined yet whether Coles will count as a FA addition. If he doesn't the Bengals will get a 4t or 5th round comp pick for Andrews. If Coles counts, the Bengals get nothing in return for losing Andrews. FWIW, the hiccup is over Coles contract status with the Jets. He wasn't cut, as first reported. Rather, his existing contract with the Jets was renegotiated, and then voided two days later. Does it really matter how he became a FA?

As for Who Counts this how I been looking at itTJDoucheh-31+ WR se would only get a 5th for him max.L.Coles-31+WR Well I would think that Coles Cancels out our pick from TJ...Stacey Andrews Maybe a 3rd? atleast a 4thEveryone else a Non Factor being we gained and loss players who only signed vet min dealsI don't see why any of that would matter. Well Coles Is only valued as a 5th round Comp Pick being that he's over the age of 30,I remember the Steeler fans freaking out when they loss Alan.F and only got a 5th round comp because he was over the age of 30. ShulaSteakhouse
The bottom line is once again Alexander cannot develop or scout players, and when day one interior lineman are drafted, they're cut loose as soon as they need a new contract. And there's been all of two of those drafted in 14 years or more, since Alexander the terrible has been here. Two playoff games in that time and zero wins. Yet he still has a job here. Does it really matter how he became a FA? Does it matter? Maybe. Nutshelled, Coles is only the second FA to renegotiate his contract almost immediately before it was voided....in this example just 2 days later. In the first example the team who signed the FA in question also signed several others and was deemed to have gained far more than it lost. As a result the team wasn't due any comp picks in return....so the matter of how renegotiated/voided contracts are classified wasn't addressed by the NFL. And there's the rub because the NFL has only dealt with contracts voided months or even years after signing....not 48 hours.
HairOnFire
Somebody get me a towel...I've just had an epiphany! Shula, take your last post and make it your sig. Then, whenever you feel your message needs to be heard again you quickly bombard this board with wordless posts featuring naked babes, each accompanied by your boilerplate sig. Think about it. By refusing to say the same thing over and over and over again you'd immediately find yourself with hours of newly discovered free time. Best, your popularity would soar. Everybody wins. Pidge
Andrews has and will achieve 3/5ths of precisely f**k all. Another in a long line of skidmarks to earn a small fortune in the nuffle.

If the player has been in the league 10 season, then the highest you can get for the player is a 5th rounder.
