Then Simpson has to be able in a limited fashion be able to do SOMETHING! 4 plays? He's been here for 2 seasons, 2 training camps, 2 pre-seasons. If this guy can't have 4 plays down pat. Then cut him. Listen people I'm drunk with playoff fever. Wearethisclose. I feel better about this team than I do the 2005 team. If my hero Carson Palmer can just get the time to throw! Pidge
Did Purify play ST at all? If he didn't I can see why Cosby was spared. Will Purify make it through waivers and go back on the PS?At this point I'm all for seeing what paddle-hands can do.
COB
I can't believe they cut Purify. He must have fallen out of favor pretty fast, because it looked like the coaches liked his versatility.

HoosierCat
I can't believe they cut Purify. He must have fallen out of favor pretty fast, because it looked like the coaches liked his versatility. They had to make room for the Hamburglar and with Crocker out 2-3 weeks felt they couldn't afford to send Murray back down to the PS. Mo will end up back on the squad assuming he clears waivers, I'm sure.

membengal
Maybe Purify can learn to catch and get open when he does get back to the practice squad. And,yes, he was playing a ton on special teams. And made some plays. But was not doing a lot when it came to catching a pass.

And made some plays. But was not doing a lot when it came to catching a pass.Nobody seems to be catching the ball except for Chad, Leonard, and Foschi. I can't believe our receiving core, which looked like a huge strength going into the season, has become so s**tty so fast. This almost means the have to activate Simpson, right? If not they go into the game with only four receivers.I hope they're able to resign Purify to the PS. He wasn't much of a receiver when he was playing, but he was pretty damn good on teams. kingwilly
At some point, you've got to get the guy on the field. They cut Purify, one of the better ST tacklers, so I hope they know what they are doing.... Surprised they did not try him at safety????As was keenly illustrated, 2 mini-camps, 2 training camps and now almost 2 full seasons, the guy HAS to be able to run some routes or it is not going to work...Something has to give. membengal
Echo others (hoosier, actually), kingw, I am sure Purify will be re-signed for the practice squad and be back by Thursday.Regardless, it is time to at least let Simpson run a streak and see if that helps open something up. I am sure he can at least do that. Even Renaldo Nehemiah could do that. As could Willie Gault.

membengal
From department of things that make me wonder, since Mike B was keen on moving a LB to TE in the pre-season, and given how they drool over Purify's blocking, at 225, can he put on another 10 or 15 pounds and play some TE for this team in the future? COB
/>http://www.carolinalive.com/sports/story.aspx?id=99950I hope those Charger dbs know they are going up against a track star and a serious long jumper. I knew you weren't a mark for Jerome, I was just kind of commenting on our ability to fall in love with the measurables on these guys. Very frustrating, but maybe he'll develop a game yet. membengal
There is 40 speed and there is football speed. While Caldwell ain't slow, I have not seen anything approaching that 40 speed when it comes to game action.

There is no way in hell that he is that close to DeSean Jackson in speed, and if he is lets try to find away to translate that to the field of play. I'm hoping Simpson gets some playing time this week, it's hard to believe that he was that raw that two training camps and a whole season under his belt can't fix enough of that to get him in a game. I have a nagging feeling that it will be more like "oh yeah, I see why he hasn't been activated." As always, hope I'm wrong.

While Caldwell ain't slow, I have not seen anything approaching that 40 speed when it comes to game action. How will we see that speed when he's running down and outs and crossing patterns? Brat has decided to keep Caldwell in a box and I don't think that's the right call. I suggest they make an effort this week to emphasize a WR other than Chad.
