bpepper
If they're going to lose another game soon, this one is it. As long as they take are of bizness (Detroit, Oak, Cleveland, KC, and either SD or the Jets) I don't see how they can't get into the playoffs as at least a WC or division winner with 11 wins. And they are still perfectly capable of getting 12 wins if they lose Sunday. That said, God help Pitt if the Bengals' play them again in the playoffs, I just don't think Pitt can match the Bengals' motivation and desire in a game like that. It would be too important to the players here. So, time to take it in stride and hope for the best, and grit the teeth and move on if they lose Sunday. I just want to see them come out of it healthy.I think HBO is still following the Bengals because of Hard Knocks. I read something somewhere that they were trying to sift through all the footage to find a "moment" that was the deciding factor for a winning season and playoff appearance. How special would that be if the Bengals make the playoffs and HBO does a special Hard Knocks "encore" episode, or two, documenting our trip to the SB? How great would that be to add to your best moments in Bengals history?I agree this is going to be a tough game.. The only way we win this game is if we come out firing on all cylinders and absolutely destroy Pittsburgh. I'm taling a 35-17 game. I do not want to be in a close game with Pittsburgh. My prediction (I would never predict against) is 31-14. Bengals.I'm with you. Baltimore had its problems last week, but the game was really decided by the Bengals coming out firing and making Baltimore look like a high school team for 20 minutes. After that, we just held our ground. If Chad comes out pumped and puts on an early show, Palmer comes out firing, and we can slap 14-21 points on the board quickly - I think we manage to hold them off the rest of the way worst case, and blow them out a la 31-14 best case. No guarantee it'll happen, but our best chance to win is to jump on them early.
BengalszoneBilly
The defense worries me a bit, we may have the #2 defense against the run but no team has ever stuck with the run. I just wonder what will happen if they did, and the steelers are coming in red hot running the ball. Ben killed the DBs in the last meeting, the Bengals hardly blitzed him either. I wonder if Zimmer will change the way he game plans this one? They need to feed Benson the ball early and often, they need to find a way to get it going. If Benson runs the ball over 20 times there is a good shot they could win. Last game they kept shooting themselves in the foot, so as long as they keep there cool like they have in the last few games you never know what will happen.I believe that as in each game the Bengals have won, Cedric Benson and the offensive line has played a large part in it. For Cincinnati to come out on top Sunday, this MUST continue.FWIW I see the Bengals going to the pass early to open up the run game. Just what I feel. walzav29
I have not noticed David Jones at all. Has anyone seen him? I know he was coming off injury in the 1st meeting, but I would think he could handle Wallace if he's healthy.
derekshank
I'm not afraid to admit it. Yeah, I'm nervous. Yeah. Me too... but mostly because I ran my mouth too much this week to Steeler fans, and I won't want to show up to work on Monday if the Bengals lose.I rarely talk about the Bengals with 'we' statements. Almost never... but I got sick of Steeler s**t, and went off about how the Bengals were more physical and were going to come in and beat them at their own game in their own house. At that point the Steeler fan had very little to respond with and said "What are you smoking?" to which I responded with a rare 'we' statement... "We'll be smoking the Steelers on Sunday. I've got my broom in hand, and we're going to sweep your asses to the curb."So, I'm just nervous about the s**t I'll have to deal with if they lose this game. Mostly because I can't forget how badly the Steelers were crushing the Bengals throughout most of the entire 1st half in the previous game. The Steelers must have come out on top on more than 85% of the plays in that half, right? I see no freaking way the Bengals will blow the Steelers out. None. Not that I'd mind, but I'm just not seeing it.I agree. This won't be a blow out. The Steeler defense is still good. This isn't Chicago. That said, I really believe the Bengals are the more physical team this year. In that first game the Steelers defense made a mockery of an offense that had yet to start clicking. This time they know they'll have to respect Benson, and Palmer looks in sync with Chad, Caldwell, and even Coles.Denver moved the ball pretty well in the first half against Pittsburgh, and they have no running game and and a QB named Orton. I think you'll see the Bengals try to play keep away just like the Ravens game. I'll be very surprised if the first half resembles the week 3 in the least. I expect a grind. Not neccessarily a low scoring affair, but rather....a close game decided by which team makes the last critical mistake.Yeah. It seems like these are the kinds of close games the Bengals engage in the Steelers with. When the Bengals are bad, the game is over by halftime, but when the Bengals are respectable, it goes down to the last play. I fully expect the "Cardiac Cats" again this week, win or lose. TIMEsteelersfan
It will be awesome to see how they stack up this time around! Pittsburgh is a totally different team now. They've finally found a rushing game again, the "D" is getting turnovers again, and they've stopped collapsing in the forth quarter lately. Big Ben is still the man. Things are back to normal in Pittsburgh. They win a close one.

Both offenses are clicking and both defenses are at the top of the game. This game might actually come down to a great special teams play. Who knows? I wouldn't bet money on this game because I really have no idea how it will turn out.

And then when I saw the Bengals are 7 point dogs, I got really happy. The Bengals may not win this game... but 7 points is way too many with how well they are playing right now.I love the fact that Vegas doesn't believe in the Bengals, because it's making me money! volcom69
Looks like as of right now the Bengals have a pretty big injury report! Lets hope those that are questionable can go there are some key players on that J. Johnson, and Frostee. A couple guys were/are ill lets hope they feel better, and right now they are probable. Steelers dont have many injuries! So i hope everyone can play on Sunday expect for the ones we know are out!
COB
Damn mem, I feel the same way. It's just quite disheartening to see it written down like that.Pidge and Mem, your pessimism can be overcome. Please watch the attached Amon Amarth video for "Cry of the Blackbirds". I'll post the lyrics. Then please scream along with it. Then do it a couple more times. Also please note the importance of synchronized head banging to Swedish viking metal. You might want to throw some of that in there. If this doesn't do it, you might try "With Odin On Our Side." That song might be appropriate for a road game because the second stanza is,"For each of us, there are four of themIt matters not to usWe won't leave this field in shameWe are here to crush!" Okay, here's Cry of the Blackbirds [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6C0qTwyXUcLyricsRaise your swords up highSee the black birds flyLet them hear your rageShow no fearAttack!Charge your horses across the fieldsTogether we ride into destinyHave no fear of death when it's your timeOden will bring us home when we dieThe ground trembles under us as we make our thunder chargeThe pounding hooves strikes blinding fear into their heartsOur helmets shine in the sun as we near their wall of shieldsSome of them turn and run when they hear our frenzied screamsDraw your swords to strikeHear the black birds cryLet them feel your hateShow no fearCharge your horses across the fieldsTogether we ride into destinyHave no fear of death when it's your timeOden will bring us home when we dieThe enemies are in disarray ride them down as they runSend them to their violent graves, don't spare anyoneDead and wounded lie all around see the pain in their eyesOver the field an eerie sound, as we hear the raven's cryCome on Bengals! Show no fear. Attack!!

COB
It's like that song was written for me! My new anthem. Glad you liked that, Pidge. It's great stuff. Not for everyday, but certainly perfect for leading up to a Pittsburgh game.
Pidge
Hideously dramatic and ever so slightly pretentious rock anthems are my bag man.
