What they are saying in Baltimore-part II (merged)

Lap ran a nice little victory lap on Coleman, going over all the ways the Bengals dominated the game.

I will sign out of updates with this summary after listening, off and on, to 12 hours of local Baltimore sportstalk today:

---Dawning realitzation and the beginnings of acceptance that the Bengals are the better team.

---Dawning realization that a Super Bowl appearance may not be a done deal for the Ravens after all (seriously, a good percentage of the locals figured they were on their way)

---Dawning realization that the geting to the playoffs for the Ravens will be a fight.

---Dawning realization that the Ravens roster has massive issues.

---A lot of callers wondering why the Ravens have gotten away from playing like the Bengals played yesterday and in the previous match-up. Wondering why the Bengals are team committed to the run and stopping the run. Wondering why the Ravens are not being physical. At some point, they will realize on defense, it is because they are getting old. On offense? That's a good question.

All in all, a remarkably satisfying day.

As for me, I didn't trash talk at all at work. I did, however, put out the front of the Sun sports section with its fullpage pic of four Bengals gang-tackling Leron McClain under the headline "MAULED" and let it do the talking for me.

Thanks to Hokie for starting this topic again, and hope it was a worth the reads. Perhaps Hokie will have more to add. All in all, delightful to be a Bengals fan in Baltimore today. Simply delightful.

Have a good one.

ETA: In case you missed it, check this out from Sun columnist Kevin Cowherd and enjoy:

Listened to 105.7 most of the day yesterday. Alot of complaining about the refs but at no time did I hear anything that implied what I heard this past week....which was the Bengals were the inferior team. They're giving the Bengals alot of credit and the dose of reality they got on Sunday was definately painful for them.

I'm flying into Baltimore to see some friends this Friday. I think I'm going to wear some Bengals gear. Who Dey.

Ozzie Newsome taking a LOT of heat on the Viviano show for the decisions that were made at WR and CB heading into this season. Given what they are running out there, he should.

There was a lot of excitement around the Ravens when Derrick Mason decided to come out of retirement. There is a reason why he wanted to retire in the first place. While he is a nice possession WR, he doesn't have speed to beat the top corners. Actually no one on their roster has that deep threat speed. I think their only offensive player above average is Ray Rice because of the match ups he creates.

As for the secondary, the Ravens haven't been the same since Chris McAllister started to lose a step. Their defense is starting to age and having to take more chances.

Maybe in 5 yrs when the 2013 draft maybe gets them the last peace of the puzzle after replacing most of their DEs, a couple of LBs, an entire secondary, a few more O-linemen and an entire receiving group, their boasts of eliteness will be true once again.

All true.

Funniest part is how much that is all going to blind-side the locals.
