kingwilly
I think were f**ked! I would love to name people that would upgrade us, but I don't have that much time! Our safties are awful! All of our linebackers are severely underachieving this year IMO. Our line doesn't get much pressure unless we send a blitz. I think Geathers should be released b/c of the money he's making b/c of one year or lose the weight and get back to being a pass rush specialist! I hate our coaches and their "philosophies" they beef everyone up b/c we play in the AFC North! I can't wait to see them beef MJ so he loses all of his athleticism! If we had Dwight Freeney he would be the fattest midget in the league!Wow!Really!
Kazkal
What is Bosche's contract like?0I don't think it's reasonable per year probably area odom was making,Though he's free agent not next but following year.
BengalPimp
Does this put an end to the Jason Shirley experiment?Actually, I understand that Mikey is having them move Jerome Simpson to DT...You may think thats funny, but Simpson was a DT/DE in High School, but he had Lap-Band Surgery to lose weight, and became a WR in College. If they take off the band, maybe he can regain the weight and play DT or DE.Damn, that kinda sounds believable doesnt it?

kingwilly
Adalius Thomas is in Belichicks doghouse. Perhaps he is snaggable? r1 for Thomas? I do not think everyone understands just what will be missing with Odom gone, or the importance of a 4-2 start, and 3-0 in the division. This is a real chance that MUST be seized on. Mike Brown, you crotchity, cheap old coot, this may be your last shot before those years of cooking on cheap aluminum pans catches up with you.Go out there, be bold, get creative and package a deal that makes this team BETTER and gives the team an even BETTER chance to forge ahead and make a run.Adalius ThomasAaron KampmanVanDen BoscheDorseyOne of these guys could come here and get after it. All 4 are on teams that either NEED r1 picks to rebuild or stockpile picks to leapfrog ahead for specific talent.Mike Brown, raid the cookie jar, the mattress, the rainy day fund, whatever, raid it and get a guy here fast so this team can feel like the organization is behind them and want sthem to have the tools to win. Do something un-Mike-Brown-like.<crosses fingers and toes, shuts eyes and wishes SoP grew some nads and could remember where his checkbook is>Look, Carolina made a trade: http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/10243720/Panthers-get-Chiefs-DL-Tyler-for-5th-rounderwhen is the trade dealine? tonight at 12am or Tuesday 12am?/????? man, this is going to burn me up. I agree, this is a very good opportunity that we can't just let slip away due to injuries but no to a 1st for Thomas! Maybe for Kampman if we can sign him long term but I would def. do it for Glenn Dorsey! In a heartbeat, they only want to trade him b/c he doesn't fit a 3-4 but would be hellish for us, especially with our recent injuries and overall lack of depth on the line! But we won't do anything, your right about that!

Seriously, not trying to ridicule you but Thomas is a very serious football player.NE dumped Seymor to the Raiders. They cut Harrison and sent Vrabel to KC. They are in overhaul. I venture a guess they'd even take a couple of picks, maybe an r3 and r5 for Thomas. He is a hyrbid player in the 3-4 and we'd need to adjust a bit, and to be honest I'd prefer a true 4-3 DE, like Kampman, but at this point we need something better as far as talent and experience than McDonald. Clackwoods
What is with the willingness to trade away a first round pick? This year is gonna be the deepest draft EVER. Why would we trade a pick? Our 20th pick will be as good as a ten in other seasons

Why would we trade a pick? Our 20th pick will be as good as a ten in other seasonsThat r1 pick could help this team win right now. Given the age of Chad, Carson entering the meat of his career, and our D on the verge of being a very good unit, why not? Or not an r1, then some package.Peppers, Thomas, Groves, Dorsey, Kampman (doubtful), Vanden Bosche.... would you give up a r1 or r2 for one of these guys?At any rate, a move must seriously be considered. Bringin McDonald up, or Orien Harris or Thornton back is insufficient and will tell us all the SoP is more concerned with being a fiscally conservative tight-wad with no vision than making a run. What is your suggestion? How do you propse they address the void left by Odom?

I didn't say I wouldn't love to have Adalius Thomas, I simply am not willing to give our 1st round pick! If like you said, the Pats would take a 3rd and a 5th, I do that in a heartbeat but not our 1st!P.S. I know you said you weren't trying to s**t, but it still came off as that! You could've asked if I knew that much about him, which I know plenty! Hell, I wanted him b4 he went to the Pats but it was not to be! This is all a moot point anyways... Why would we trade a pick? Our 20th pick will be as good as a ten in other seasonsBecause we want to win this season? Though I wouldn't give up a 1st maybe under conditions like the player get's 10 sacks for us...though I could understand giving up something costly because the team with said player probably see's you in despite need and that you want to CONTEND RIGHT NOW...I like Mcdonald but it's such a huge gap between him & what Odom brought to this defense...who was most of our pass rush (though even with odom I felt we still needed to improve it...If we go with Mcdonald I have a feeling our D will finish with 22-24 sacks for the season... Seriously, not trying to ridicule you but Thomas is a very serious football player.Which is precisely the problem with Thomas. The guy is 32 yrs old. He's got 2 yrs, if lucky, before he starts to drop off horribly. No high picks for him at this point. Maybe if we were loaded with talent and looking to go to the SB and we did it to help that goal then yeah but this team isn't loaded. walzav29
The answer has to be on the roster. FaneneJohnsonFrostee One of these guys have to step up. I blocked 08 out of my mind. Who filled in for Odom last season?

HairOnFire
The answer has to be on the roster. Probably. I could support a trade for a younger defensive player but I just can't see it happening.FaneneJohnsonFrostee One of these guys have to step up. I'm guessing the Bengals will attempt to replace Odom with all three.....with Johnson getting a chance to start much later in the season. Until then....rotation. Who filled in for Odom last season? The usual suspects. Then again, last season's Odom wasn't close to being this season's Odom so the dropoff wasn't as steep as it will be now. walzav29
I'm not trying to say Odom sucks. I'm trying to be optimistic. If you take away Odoms Green Bay game (Horrible Line) He had 3 sacks. The same a Fanene.
membengal
You can't reduce odom's impact this year to sacks. Well, I guess YOU can, but it seems to miss the bigger picture of what he has meant to the line...

It's the only option. This is the point in dispute. It did NOT need to be the only option. they had other options they did not want to exercise. Not making a bold move, and expecting the oft-injured Frostee and the still-raw MJ to fill-in for Odom, could seriously hurt this defense. It could seriously affect Leon and Jjoe and could also seriously hurt the ability of the D to stop the cut-back runs.Again, this was not the ONLY option.
