ArmyBengal
I hate hearing players make stupid ass comments like that and for that reason, I would really like to see anyone on our defense come out the first Pittsburgh offensive series and blow Hines the f*ck up. I don't mean just block him hard either, I mean BLOW HIM THE F*CK UP !!! Maybe then we will get to see him cry again like he did that first game when he thought he fumbled the game away. B*TCH... cincyhokie
Quite an a**hole. You know what though, as classless as that comment comes across I hope the Bengals have the same mindset going up against the Steelers. One exception, we need to punch them in the mouth first. Penalty? I don't care. This BS needs to end. Time to take back our lunch money damnit!

bwillycuse
Man, I dont know if I should go to the game on Sunday.I HATE the Steelers soooooo much.Even if the quote was taken out of context - the hit was cheap - the hit on Palmer was cheap.(they get no flags. We get a roughing call on the Tampa qb for sacking him nicely and lose the game.) Just seems like justice is never served. These Steeler fans need to feel what we have felt. Get off their high horse and feel the pain of ridiculous losses. They survive the Bettis fumble and the Ward fumble this year. Just way too much ball bouncing their way.Steeler fan at my work comes to me complaining about calls in their game. I tell him to shut up and deal with whatever comes their way because the pendulum has swung on their side for way too long. Id like to see how they fare with Ben going down along with 10 other starters like we are used to.Ugh - Sunday cant come fast enough.
JoePong
Ward is an idiot. Does he really think the only two options when blocking a player are either ending his career by going for the knees, or hitting him helmet-to-helmet in the head? We need to start taking cheap shots of our own but only vs. the Squeelers, I hate everything about them! I just wish our team felt this way, I feel nobody from Marvin to Carson to anyone on offense hating the Squeelers. I feel like our defense kinda has that hatred towards them though! With Keith taking a cheap shot with revenge on the brain, Rey wants revenge for a friend, Roy and Crock just got that swag to take this rivalry back. TIMEsteelersfan
A few thoughts from a Steeler fans perspective...His comments are directed towards the NFL I think more than Rivers or the Bengals. He's been repeatedly fined for laying the same hits defensive players lay week in and week out, not that the hit on Rivers was one of them, he was clearly too high on that one. Anyway, I certainly don't think he has any intention of doing it again, mainly because I don't think it was his intention to do it in the first place. He came flying in for the block, which he's done countless times, and this time he came in a bit high. I've watched this guy his entire career and he is not by any means a dirty player or a cheap shot artist. Just some Black and Gold perspective for ya. Not because I am a Bengals fan either.I certainly respect Ward for his ability to find seams and get open, catch tough passes, and overcome his lack of speed. HOWEVER, he clearly and intentionally went for Rivers head on the play, and has gone headhunting on running plays when blocking many, many times. I think Ward's hits will catch up with him about age 50, when he starts having mental issues an drives the worng way down the PA turnpike ending up in a ball of flames, or something like that.Ward is an idiot. Does he really think the only two options when blocking a player are either ending his career by going for the knees, or hitting him helmet-to-helmet in the head?Weird, this is the second time I've agree with you this week. It seems obvious from the replay that Ward went high on Rivers when he did not need to and then gets up and celebrates it obnoxiously. Who does that? My 2 favorite comments from Ward after the hit on Rivers:"I don't complain when opposing defensive players try to knock my head off or hit me high" (something to that effect). No s**t a**hole, you have the ball. You're never going to be involved in a blindside hit."It says something that I can knock someone down who is 255 lbs...(blah, blah, blah)...he's the bigger guy" (something to that effect). Again, it's a blindside hit, he didn't see you coming. That's why it's a cheapshot. You can CHOOSE where you want to block him because he's not defending himself. You chose to hit him high and then AFTER making the hit and KNOWING he hit Rivers high...he celebrates. A**.

Just some Black and Gold perspective for ya.I agree with what YOU are saying about him directing towards the NFL, but he's full of it (and he knows it). Just go to youtube and search for hines ward hits and you'll see him repeatedly hunker down and then come up to ram his helmet into the bottom of another guy's helmet -- right along the ear line. I just don't know how anyone could watch that hit and not think he was trying to really, really hurt someone. Same thing he did to ed reed. I don't think the hit on palmer was dirty, in the sense that someone was trying to hurt him (the guy looked sick to his stomach when he saw carson rolling around), but certainly lunging after someone's knee is a no brainer (as in you know better). Hines is basically saying "if i can't hit a guy in his head, then i'm going to have to break his knee. Have it your way, NFL." That's just ridiculous. Can't hit a guy in his chest? Can't wrap him up? Not familiar with form tackling, hines? The bottom line is that hines ward is a classless, dirty player who can make clutch catches and who can hit hard. He is probably one of my top 3 least favorite players in the NFL. Can't think of anyone else who seems to so blatantly try to hurt people (as in injure them so as to take them out of the game.) And another dick on their team -- i think it was harrison -- said how he doesn't care if he ends someone's career so long as he gets paid. Really? I just don't get why these steeler players think that not being able to careen into someone's head means you have to try and destroy their knee. It's nice having a reasonable poster from the steelers on here, though I do question the moral fortitude of anyone who can root for that team for any length of time
ArmyBengal
TIME, while I respect your opinion and like that you come here to talk during this week, I will disagree as well.It will of course see, biased since i'm a Bengals fan, but regardless of fan affiliation, tapes of his hits don't lie.I will give credit that he is a tough player that isn't afraid to throw his body around, but it doesn't remove the fact the hits are cheap. Are they illegal by the rule of the game ?? No, but that doesn't make him right in those practices either. As stated before, he could be just as effective blocking anywhere but the head. I just think he's generally an assh*le and I love seeing him whine.

TIME... you seem like a good guy, and a well reasoned and rational person. But you're wrong. It was not an aberration when Hines went high on Rivers. He always goes high. He leads with the top of his helmet and aims for the chin. He also often does this when the play is away from him, and when the player he is hitting isn't looking because the play is all but over. I understand why Steeler fans like him, because it's a physical way to play, and it makes him seem like a bit of a badass... but Hines is a douche without rival. Yeah... he's a smaller guy who hits bigger guys. Big deal. He does it when they aren't looking and can't defend themselves. I'm not impressed. He's an ass. Wraith
I don't like the Steelers but I respect the hell out of them and frankly Roy Williams had the same response to the "Roy Williams" rule. I wouldn't expect a football player to change what he does on the field. I don't think the original hit was Kimo-esque and I wouldn't expect any football player to change how they played a game particluarly when the hit doesn't get a flag on the field. But that list doesn't haven't include Hines Ward. No kidding, I'll accept substitutes.
