ChadJohnson-85
The Bengals also Thursday waived cornerback Ethan Kilmer from the Reserve/Injured list. Kilmer, a third-year player from Penn State, suffered a thigh injury in training camp on July 31 and had reverted to Cincinnati's R/I list after clearing waivers Aug. 21.Kilmer is another recent draftee fallen prey to injuries. He hasn't played since his promising rookie year of 2006 because of a variety of ills. After the Bengals took him in the seventh round out of Penn State, he finished second on the team with 18 special teams tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown in New Orleans on the fourth defensive snap of his life.http://bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=7166
TJJackson
I guess he recovered from his injuries - I don't think it is permitted to truly waive a player while injured (ie, they revert back to you after clearing waivers)
fattyjay
Well, I'd say it's about time. He was one of many late round picks that they thought would be key contributors that ended up on IR most of the time. The Bengals need to start drafting players solely on the basis of whether or not they can make it through training camp without getting hurt. COB
Another in a series of recent moves that say, "If you can't play, why are you on our football team?" Too bad it took them this long to figure it out. PS - Even when it works out, it sometimes bites you in the rear. Like being incredibly patient with an unproven running back who misses two seasons, then discovering he can do everything except hang on to the ball. ShulaSteakhouse
Like being incredibly patient with an unproven running back who misses two seasons, then discovering he can do everything except hang on to the ball.He can also average 2.9 ypc AND lead the league in fumbles. That said, haven't checked, but am guessing he's up there in total # of carries as well. They are using him just like Rudi the last two years. Everyone is or has to be the next Corey Dillon or James Brooks or Harold Green to them. The Bengals have to be the worst in the league at utilizing a tandem backfield like almost every other good team does regularly. Then again when you don't plan or draft well, you usually don't have a lot to choose from.
