ShulaSteakhouse
Then again, what if he hauls down a couple 50+ yarders against the Turds, Squealers or Ravens? Mike Brown turns into Fr. Flanigan. Wins the Nobel Peace Prize.Thanksgiving night 2008. Chris Henry grabs 3 TD passes for a Bengals national audience victory in Pittsburgh. Trust me ... something like that and the nation will have a very short memory as to how much a risk he was to put back on the roster. If last year was any indication, his skills are eroding with the lack of conditioning and playing time, booze and drugs, and more likely, the decaying offensive line that's been largely ignored or dealt with my Mike Brown and his staff of imbeciles. This offense is stale, Palmer rarely has time to throw downfield or let a play develop deep, there's no play fakes, mis-direction or time to do much of anything. People take the o-line for granted, it's not good anymore and you'll see what I mean this year when Palmer gets hurt and the running game is #26th or worse again. With time to throw, Palmer can make average WR's look very good. The problem is not the WR's so much as the protection - something Mike Brown will never understand the importance of apparently. He likes his flashy, speedy WR's too much. Always has. They way you say this is like you're saying that you'll pretty much garuntee Palmer will get hurt and when he does it will make you feel good because you told us so??? WTF? That's probably the most ignorant thing I've ever heard. This O-lin will be good. Palmer won't get hurt... hopefully.

Pidge
The more things change....I'm actually shocked to hear this. Now I feel silly for thinking anything was going to change for the better. How odd that no other team is signing him. We're like a victim of abuse, constantly hoping he'll change - he loves the Bengals really, that's why he's been s**tting on the franchise ever since getting drafted. Who knows though, maybe this can be that Hallmark moment where the douchebag of the film finally turns his life around and opens an orphanage for vegetarian puppies with AIDS./holds breath

I really hope he turns it around, but I sincerely doubt it.
Pidge
Indeed. Nothing to lose ultimately I guess. He finally uses his ridiculous amount of talent to its fullest extent and the Bengals benefit or he doesn't and nothing of value, at this point, was lost.It does, to me at least, point to nothing fundamentally changing in the ethos of the management though, which is a bit of a bummer. gregstephens
Alright...enough of the meltdowns. You guys are the same ones that renewed your vows of loyalty to this team on the 'Have we abandoned the Bengals?' thread. Well...most of you. Here's the point. Mike Brown is going to do what he wants to do. Period. I can't change it. You can't change it. Marvin can't change it. Resigning Henry wasn't the worst FOOTBALL move, as he is clearly a top level third receiver. However, that doesn't do us any good if he can't play because he's suspended. Does Brown look like a fool because of his hard-nose stand a month ago? Sure. Guess what? Brown always makes himself look like a fool. Is it actually right the Bengals cut him and he got suspended when the latest criminal thing went away? Don't know.Ask all the irrelevant questions you want. I'm not happy about it, but there are things I'm more concerned with. The running game. The o-line. The punt return team. The defensive backfield. The linebacker corps. Henry is a symptom of the problem, not the problem. Hold on for 2008 and let's see how interesting it gets.
HAPPYJAQ
Henry was surprisingly impressive at his press conference. He admitted that this is his last chance. If he doesn't make the most out of this, he deserves whatever misery he suffers in life after football.
jjakq27
Was he dressed for the game? I didn't see him out there last night.
richmond_mat
here's an article that puts this in perspective. Nothing new in it though.http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/25/sports/f...html?ref=sports
