Wraith
I am, what happens if Sims, Rivers, Simpson, Caldwell and Lynch all miss time in training camp, that would be a disaster.
fattyjay
I am, what happens if Sims, Rivers, Simpson, Caldwell and Lynch all miss time in training camp, that would be a disaster.I'm pretty sure camp doesn't start until 7/28, but yes I am a little nervous. TJJackson
Pretty much every year is the same pattern - the 2nd rnd picks and lower all sign in the last week, even the last day prior, and the last pick may or may not (50-50) sign by camp opening. Certainly there have been exceptions to this, but overall things are ore or less on schedule historically speakingYeah, I hate that they wait til the last freakin minute when they have months to talk, but I've come to accept that the Brown family is always going to handle rookie signings in this ridiculous fashion. They do so very few things (like fleecing taxpayers) well, so why expect this aspect of the business to be run any better?
TecmoFever
I am, what happens if Sims, Rivers, Simpson, Caldwell and Lynch all miss time in training camp, that would be a disaster.I don't know what all the fuss is about. We have studs like Uruttia, Craig, and Shirley locked up. Who needs those First-Day guys anyway?
Ickey44
They'll all get here eventually, I guess.
HoosierCat
There's only about 5 1st rounders signed so far, and not too many 2nds yet, either. Everyone was waiting on a ruling about whether bonuses could be guaranteed in the fourth year of deals done this year, because that fourth year would be in the looming uncapped year. The NFLPA argued yes, the owners argued no (because if all the guaranteed coin had to be in years 1-3 it couldn't be as much due to the 25% rule. At least I think that was the rationale.). The ruling came down in favor of the NFLPA's position Saturday, so we ought to see a flood of signings this week.
membengal
Camp starts next Monday, and odds are it will be without Rivers and at least one of the 2nd/3rd rounders. That's just the way it is. I have given up "nervous" with regard to this annual happening as it falls firmly into that which I cannot control...
membengal
Curnutte says Sims and Lynch are all but in the fold and will sign their contracts when camp opens. If true, that takes the list down to Rivers, Simpson, Caldwell and Collins.http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...40057/1055/NEWSThe Bengals are close to reaching contract agreements with two more of their draft picks, but the players probably will not sign their deals until arriving Sunday for training camp at Georgetown College.Third-round defensive tackle Pat Sims and sixth-round safety Corey Lynch are essentially agreed upon, but don’t look for an official announcement from the club until Sunday. No terms are available yet.The four draft picks already in the fold – defensive tackle Jason Shirley (fifth round), tight end Matt Sherry (sixth) and defensive end Angelo Craig and wide receiver Mario Urrutia (seventh) – signed four-year contracts.Productive discussions are ongoing with two wide receivers, second-round pick Jerome Simpson and third-rounder Andre Caldwell.Progress. fattyjay
The only players I care about signing on time are Rivers and Sims. They are the two who I expect to have the greatest initial impact on this team.

Wouldn't you just write "Rivers" wherever is says "Mayo" on a Xerox of his contract and add a few percent on to whatever numbers there are? Obviously that's over-simplifying it, but isn't this essentially what will get done?
Wraith
Provided they can get a copy of the contract to Xerox!
