kingwilly
How about some commentary on how UNPROFESSIONAL it is to leave this till now? Do it at the end of the season to assure it is all healed and rehab'd properly. Perhaps it is a borderline surgery issue and he wanted to see if it healed during some downtime but in light of all the other escapades, Mr. "Cut-Off-his-johnson-despite-his...." has lost all benefit of the doubt. That said, last time he had this procedure done he was back in 2 weeks, so I'm not anticipating a problem.

Seriously, though, that stuff is scary. That team's lucky no one's needed an amputation yet.

Come on, staph infection!P-U-P!P-U-P!I'll pass on him being on the p-u-p and prefer he has a 1400+ yard season kthx.I'll respectfully disagree on that. The team was 7-9 with his 1400 yards last season, primarily because his 1400 yards don't translate into scores. What did he have, eight tds last year, with three or four of those coming in one game? His 1400 yards per season are great--for him. It gets him to Pro-Bowls and receiving titles, but does nothing for the team. I'll take a team player that makes 700-1100 yards per season, doesn't implode the team and finds the end zone a little more often, especially if he can come through in the clutch, which Fredo has demonstrated is not his forte.Your approach is understandable, but not justifiable. He's not worth the headaches he causes with such little return.
Kazkal
He had had 8 touchdowns last year which is normal for him since he ranges 7-10 touchdowns a year once again,He had one less touchdown then our 11-5 season of offensive godliness....But yes it's chads fault that our offensive line has been downgraded since then It's chads fault on all the injury's we've had in the past 2 years and it's his fault run game has gotten worse and worse. I never said 85 is solely responsible for losing the nine games, but he didn't step up and help a whole lot either. Therefore, he's not worth all this crap HE'S caused. I didn't cause it. The fans didn't cause it. 85 caused it. His 1400 yards and 48 total points are not irreplaceable.

More focus is shifted off him to T.J. and the running game. He certainly isn't the same deep pass threat he once was to allow the running game to open up unexpectedly. Why are you the 85 apologist? Are you one of the fans that is upset, so 85 is upset? And you're upset because he's upset, or whatever nonsense he told the channel 19 reporter. Why defend this piece of crap? He's not helping the team. Accept that.

It IS his fault that he never shows up in a big game (especially against the Steelers). I'd just as soon see Marcus Maxwell in there to see if he can catch a third down pass for a first down. Being pissed at Chad is one thing, but trying to make him into a nominal player on the team is simply an overreaction. 1400 yards isn't nothing. That's a ton of yards. Going just by the record book, it actually can't be replaced except by one or two guys in the whole league. Everybody has a role in the current offense and to suggest that Chad's isn't pivotal is irrational. Perhaps more to the point, if there's going to be a circus it would be best if there was some actual production on the field coming out of it. To wish that one of your best players gets hurt seems to border on hoping the team does poorly -- which I doubt is your actual point. And, yes, Chad is one of the best players on the team regardless of what a jackass he may be.

Other AFC wide receivers with the same or more td's than 85 for 2007: Andre Johnson with Houston, who missed almost half the season, Santonio Holmes, Wes Welker, Braylon Edwards, TJ, Reggie Williams, Reggie Wayne. 85 thinks, and many of us (you) believe, that 85 is above all of these other receivers as an elite receiver. The scoring doesn't support that. The yards are overrated. Is 85 one of the best football talents on the team? Sure. But when you subtract his attitude, his inability or unwillingness to play in the clutch and the permanent damage done to the team by his antics, his value is overrated.I hope the Bengals do great this year, but I believe they can be solid contenders without 85 and show him he isn't all that on this team. Kazkal
Chad didn't have the best hands in 2005yes the guy can be a douchebag it's very true he got targeted when stuff went south when there is more to it then "his drops" 1400 yards was not a benchmark it was a number thrown out if he had a 1,000 yard season or 700 as long as he was trying I could careless about what he said in the off season. First, he wasn't trying his all on every play last year, whether it was the crucial drops when it looked like someone might hit him, to screwing up a route (which happened WAY too often last year from game one) and so on.I don't really 'care' about what he says, but for the fact that it is disrupting a team that now, more than ever, needs unity and veteran leadership. All I'm saying is that the threats of sitting out the season, then showing up to the mandatory camp only to not do anything, then all of a sudden he's happy, now he's getting the surgery the team wanted him to get at the end of the season--it's all tiresome and detrimental to the team. If the Bengals have legitimate alternatives to receiver that don't have the baggage, I'm good with giving them a shot and sitting 85.And btw, I don't seriously wish 85 harm...I wouldn't wish harm on anyone. Frankly, if he shuts his yapper, shows up, plays hard and produces, fine. I understand ultimately that is best for the team. But the Bengals need to be ready with plan 'B', and not afraid to go to plan 'B' when 85 inevitably acts like 85 again.
