WhoDey93285
They should just give Troy Smith a chance. He played well when given an oppurtunity last year.Kids a winner. And a good player if they would just give him a chance.
HairOnFire
Steve McNair Injured Again Written by Paul Myfinger FNN (Fake News Network) 04/17/08 Baltimore Raven QB Steve McNair was injured today when Raven GM Ozzie Newsome attempted to hand the aging quarterback a gold watch during McNair's retirement press conference. "It was sickening. You could hear bones breaking and tendons snapping. There was blood everywhere." said Newsome. He added, "The watch was ruined. It's a total loss." McNair was rushed to the Ravens training room where his injuries were diagnosed. He was later transferred to a local hospital. After four hours of surgery he was released. McNair has made no statement since the injuries were sustained, but his agent addressed the press outside of Raven facilities. "We expect Steve to recover completely in a few months. He's a tough guy." Before being injured McNair had expessed his thanks to the Ravens for giving him an opportunity, and said he was looking forward to spending quiet days on his ranch. "I won't miss being chased down by defensive lineman. I'm too old for that." UPDATE: Steve McNair killed by a cow. Adam-Whodey
Mcnair announces retirement...does this affect how they draft first round?
Adam-Whodey
basically im hoping this makes QB a priority in the first round and makes the possibility of choosing a D-lineman ahead of us impossible
rwalling
Think Matt Ryan's on Ozzie Newsome's speed dial? Looks more and more like we will get a shot at one of Dorsey, Ellis or Gholston.
DesperateDerelict
does this change the pick immediately ahead of us?LINK: NFL.com story
HoosierCat
does this change the pick immediately ahead of us?Since the Ravens were widely expected to take Ryan if he were there anyhow, probably not. I think it may increase the chance that Baltimore moves up if Ryan gets past Atlanta.
fattyjay
I would say that the Ravens wouldn't panic if Ryan isn't there at #8. Too many serviceable QB's they could get in Rd. 2 for them to trade up in Rd. 1 unless they really think Ryan is the savior.

Sadly, Chris Perry heard the news, and was badly injured by the intense feeling of respect and admiration he had for McNair. A couple broken ribs, cracked vertabrae, and a dislocated ankle just for good measure.
BengalszoneBilly
Evidently this news has sent the Ravens site I frequent into an overload shutdown. The rejoicing must have gotten out of hand.
Thurmanation
When that franchise realizes that my boy Troy Smith is dutty with protection, then they'll become winners. That kid can produce no matter what the championship game showed.

And a good player if they would just give him a chance.Indeed. Oh but he's not 6'5". There's no way he could ever become a good QB right? I mean it's not as if the ability to actually throw the ball accurately has been a high priority for many teams in the last couple of years. Cutler is about the only one I can think of and Vince Young was taken 8 spots higher in the same draft. Jamarcus Russel? Well he's just so big and manly and has a tough guy scowl. He's bound to succeed. .
