bengalsfansince68
Not sure why, but, this guy does not appear on NFL.com in either current or historical players. This guy may be camp fodder due to the recent thinning of our WRs.On the other hand, he is only 27 and I like guys who average 15 or more YPC.I'll get excited about him when I see him make some plays. HoosierCat
Not sure why, but, this guy does not appear on NFL.com in either current or historical players. He was out of football last season. You have to use google to find his nfl.com page.http://www.nfl.com/players/douggabriel/profile?id=GAB606060Certainly worth bringing him in for a look-see. All he's got to do is push Glenn Holt off the roster, and for all I like Holt that shouldn't be that much of a challenge! If he can't...nothing lost. HoosierCat
In this instructional video from NFL.com, Doug Gabriel demonstrates what happens when a defense decides (for reasons known only to itself) not to cover a WR running into the end zone. bengalsfansince68
Damn, Mr. Cat,Thanks for the liberal dose of nausea that came with that video. It's OK though, I have the perfect anti-nausea agent at my disposal.

rishipatel
I'm happy about this addition. He was once a promising receiver who did well with very little around him in Oakland. And he had no great QB throwing him the ball. Once he was traded to the Pats, some thought he would be their number 2 receiver. I even had him on my fantasy bench for a short time. I don't know if he got injured or what, but he ended up a casualty of the Moss/Welker/Stallworth additions. I don't know why no other team picked him up though. If nothing else, he should push the current backup receivers to improve, which is always a good thing. Hopefully he's still in shape and maybe he'll even push Chatman for the #3 spot so whoever they draft has more time to adjust to the NFL. Good pickup. Thurmanation
You know what,(other then showing off Gabriel) that game summed up what our team lacks now, Pass Protection, Run Blocking (It was nice in that game, we don't have that anymore) A smart Safety, a DT that can stop the run, and a *** damn linebacking core that knows how to stop a runner from getting outside, i mean s**t i played no where close to pro ball and i know you always force the runner inside if your an outside backer, you make the 'L' and keep him inside.I mean Zimmer better teach these boys something. combatbengal
Bengals signed Doug Gabriel. I don't much about this guy becasue he didn't play last year but he came from Central Florida and has 5 years of experience. Central Florida always has pretty good WR's. Also, the NFL network just said that the Bengals have a couple of WR draft picks coming to town for a workout. I hope we continue to build our Def in the first couple rounds! Pidge
Bounced from the Raiders to the Pats and back to the raiders a couple of years ago I think. He'll most likely be cut before the season starts.
ShulaSteakhouse
Picking up a player cut by the Raiders last training camp. Woo freakin hoo.
HoosierCat
Bounced from the Raiders to the Pats and back to the raiders a couple of years ago I think. He'll most likely be cut before the season starts.Getting cut by the Raiders isn't necessarily a bad sign. This is a team that's gone 19-61 over the last five years; they wouldn't know talent if it walked up and bit them on the ass.

Ickey44
Why do you say that? When he was with the Pats he looked pretty sharp. We need all the help we can get at WR right now.

We need all the help we can get at WR right now.If we need so much help as to keep a guy around that has been cut from the Raiders twice, then there are some serious problems. But hey, I could be wrong. He may be a solid special teamer.
kurgan74
At least we get more dreadlocks.Thay is never a bad thing He is relatively young and was known as a physical receiver who could stretch thefield. Let's see if he has anything left.Any chance the Bengals will bring back Bennie Brazell???
Kazkal
If Kelly Washington beat him out.....why didn't we just keep Kdub

These guys are freaking NFL backups or perhaps starters in the CFL... We have to go LB'er with the #9 if the two big DT's are not available... The Bengals need quality rather than quantity (which we have now) at LB. Let guys like Dhani, Jeanty, Miller, Henderson, ect. do what they do best; BACKUP.BTW, I like the pickup. Isn't Gabriel one of the fastest WR's in the league? I'm pretty sure that when he came out, his speed was considered top of the pack. I also recall them having his speed at 99 (the best score you can achive) on Madden.
skyline
I don't expect anything from Gabriel, but that doesn't mean I'm against the signing in any way. It won't hurt to give the guy a shot.

I'm hoping more that Chatman can finally get some stuff done, and be what Warrick was for as a few seasons ago.
ArmyBengal
I'm sure he isn't costing the Bengals anything is relative terms and if he can't cut it, he's gone. What's to lose regardless of who he played for ??WHODEY !!!
Clackwoods
Bounced from the Raiders to the Pats and back to the raiders a couple of years ago I think. He'll most likely be cut before the season starts.Actually the guy is pretty good, I watched him play when he was with the Pats a couple of times and he was a good WR. He will definatly be around when the season starts, he isn't an all star by any means but he could fill our number three role easy. Chatman will be hurt again! I agree, he's pretty good. Just another pretty good guy in the NFL. Maybe he makes it in as depth or possibly the #3 guy. If he has any sort of talent in the return game he'll help himself a lot. Just another Tab/Antonio, IMO. Ten a penny reciever at this level. Hopefully he can contribute something but no harm done if he doesn't.
