bnglsboi8532 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Jets, Broncos resurrect dealPosted: Friday March 14, 2008 06:26AM ETTalks between the Jets and Broncos on a trade that could send Dewayne Robertson to Denver have been resurrected according to another source (though it's unclear whether yesterday's announcement that Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist is no longer with the team will temper or accelerate the conversations).New York NewsdayYet another DT taken from us! bryce40 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Maybe I'm missing something, but I've not heard that this deal is finalized; plus depending upon what the Broncos are giving for him, I might not be interested anyhow. Quote
HoosierCat Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 He wasn't "taken from us," he failed his physical. His knees are shot. Per Schefter at nfl.com, two teams have examined Robertson, and both said if he were coming out in this years draft, his condition would make him "undraftable." Both teams said they couldn't guarantee more than one more year out of him.In short, if Denver wants him, they can have him. One less team that could trade up ahead of us if Ellis or Dorsey starts to slip. Quote
ArmyBengal Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Robertson has never lived up to his expectations as far as I can see and another broked*ck is far from what this defense needs...WHODEY !!! Quote
jjakq27 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 Sounds like Fat Sam revisited. Save your money for someone worthwhile. Hopefully Odom is that guy. Quote
COB Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Any prospect who's medical description includes the term, "bone-on-bone", as Robertson's does regarding one of his knees, should be subject to the most intense scrutiny. I know he's not running routes or anything on that knee, but just pushing off time after time, it seems like a big gamble. He's worth it only at a significant discount off his current deal, and it would have to be very limited years as well. Quote
TJJackson Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Let's pretend for a moment that this guy has no health issues. He still is fairly unproductive with a very, very high salary. I'd say no even if he was healthy and the price for the trade was a conditional (based on playing at least 50% of all defensive snaps) late pickThrow in the "bone on bone" knee issue, and I have zero interest in the guy. That said, let's say he is waived free and clear and comes here willing to sign a 2-3 year contract for vet min with no signing bonus. Yeah, like that'd ever happen :-). Yeah, at that point, sign him and let him compete for a spot. Quote

Still, we can do better. Quote
