DDOGG
The Bengals still wait an answer from Tab Perry this weekend and they appear ready to add more depth to their linebacker corps with another Cardinal in Brandon Johnson. Jason Chayut, Johnson's agent, indicated Saturday his client could sign as soon as early next week. Johnson, 24, a fifth-rounder out of Louisville in '06, played in nine games in two seasons in Arizona before becoming a free agent. He had two tackles in six games last year. He joins teammate Darryl Blackstock, signed as a backer Friday. The Bengals are thought to be monitoring Takeo Spikes' travels through the NFL, but they haven't shown an inclination to sign 10-year veterans during this free-agency period. They don't appear to have interest and he could stay in the NFC in San Francisco. Perry, a fourth-year wide receiver, is apparently still mulling a couple of different spots, most notably Cincinnati, Miami and Green Bay. bryce40
Why do we care one way or another. I mean he hasn't done anything special; so I could care less if he leaves.

I really liked him before that hip injury, but I never expect him to be the same.

Kazkal
I hate losing him simply because of his returns his rookie season but I wish him the best,I really hope he can do well and turn in to a solid WR.

HoosierCat
I'm sure that, if they want to, the Bengals can find another fast, fragile WR with bad hands in the 7th round - or even undrafted free agency -- this year.

Tab won't even be returning kicks in Miami will he? With Ted Ginn there?

ArmyBengal
Obviously, the Bengals had absolutely NO faith in his hip situation. The amount the Dolphins paid was basically the tender the Bengals could have placed on him in order for us to get compensated with a 6th rounder had he in fact left. Good luck and hope your hip holds up Tab...WHODEY !!!

Plus he was given the 3rd WR role on a silver platter last pre-season and didn't seem too comfortable in that role when given the chance. membengal
I'll always wonder what might have been, prior to the ill-fated hip thing on the kick-off that should never have been against Cleveland, he was shaping up nicely as a hybrid Shapre-ish pass-catching threat. Then, the injury, and he was pretty much done.Good luck to him.

As for whatever interest the Bengals had in retaining Perry, I'd say it was modest at best and evaporated the moment Ben Utecht agreed to terms. ShulaSteakhouse
No hands, flailing hips and legs all over the place, didn't know how to take a hit or fall down he was so lanky. Good move in letting him go. He'll get hurt again in Miami in short order. The only thing he could do was return kicks - but will always get hurt just doing that.I'm not sure where Mem thinks he was "shaping up as a Sharpe-ish pass catching threat." He was never really a good WR, not even in college.
membengal
The start of the season he got hurt Shula. They were starting to use him as he would ideally be used, third down, Wycheck-like, option. He had already had two damn good games. And then the injury.ETA: You made me go back and check the first few games against my memory.5 catches. 81 yards. A 16.2 ypc average. So, yeah, prior to the ill-fated kickoff mishap, they were starting to have success using him just like I described above. And I will always wonder what he might have become in that role.
