walzav29
Wel, well, well. Put on rose colored before reading. I'll wait...................... Geathers, Peko, Rogers, Gholston, Thurman, Brooks, Jeanty, Hall, White, Joseph, Ndukwe + RB + defensive draft depth. SUPERBOWL!!!!!!!!!! Variety
I'm stoked! Great job by our front office. We finally have a beast up front who can dominate the interior. No more Thornton/Peko crap. Now we have a guy who smacks guys around and gets to the QB. And if 7 sacks by a DT is "underachieving" then i hope he underachieves this season again. According to stats inc. Rogers had more quarterback pressures (which basically translates into sacks) than Demarcus Ware, Merriman and all those guys. And he plays DT!!!! I cant wait for the new season to start. We finally have a great defensive tackle.
walzav29
He does lack a motor though. He takes plays off and such. The good thinkg is though that he hated Detroit so much that he's excited to leave.
volcom69
Ok great great move now its time to get a good LB here now like Pace we need LBs now and then maybe a decent saftey and then ill like the def.
BlainThePain
I trolled some Lions forums and for the most part they are pissed about the trade. Most of them thought they should have gotten no less than a 2nd round pick for him. A handful of them actually said Rogers was the best player they had. A lot of them are worried about what Adrian Peterson is going to do to them now.
hrod382
This shuts my mouth.I was being debbie downer and complaining hard about not doing anything despite the need. Rogers motor concerns don't bother me because him at half throttle > Thornton/Robinson combined. Gives us an interior pass rush, he isn't a dinosaur (29 at the beginning of next year) and means we can go DE or LB in the 1st.Who would've thought, a meaningful move. I never thought signing Adams was a big deal but this is.

walzav29
The big question is was Marvin for this move? He doesn't have a high motor and is coming off of a 4 game suspension and is 1 failed drug test away from an 8 game suspension. I will feel better when Marvin comes out and sells it as his idea. TJJackson
Low motor guy with lots of off the field issues.Yeah, we definitely need ore of that.....sheeshI think since this is a trade and not a FA acquisition he won't hurt us as far as gaining compensatory picks for the loss of Madieu and (most probably) Justin - not sure. If it does hurt us in this fashion, I like this even less.
combatbengal
Wow, This is the first time that I've read something positive said about the front office and MB. They sowed a clip of him on TV running the ball, guess he picked up a fumble or got an int. He looked like a huge train. Now if we get Thurman back and draft a guy like Gholston, Long, or Dorsey, we may have a pretty good Def. We still need to address the DB's! Still, I'll take a low motor guy who can get 7 sacks from the DT position last year over a high motor DE who got 2.5 sacks. Of course, it would have been interesting to see them together. This inconvenient salary cap thingy.

Dexter is still back along with White and Ndukwe...add to that Busing and the return of Kilmer, and I don't think the DB's are in that bad of shape. bryce40
I just heard today that Marcus Stroud is available? I would love for the Bengals to be able to pick him up too! But I know realistically it's not going to happen. Nice to dream though.
HairOnFire
Nice. I'll argue that teams are getting far more value by way of trades than in free agency, and I strongly prefer Rogers over Kris Jenkins. Both cost a 3rd and a 5th, right? Normally I'm not a fan of fat bodies, but Rogers represents the rarest breed of cat in the entire NFL. That being, a DT who can actually rush the passer. This could be huge. jjakq27
So much for Marvin's theory about hip-flexers and knee-benders. Maybe he is seeing things differently and we finally got someone big to plug the middle!

But I know realistically it's not going to happen. Nice to dream though. I can't see that happening, but it wouldn't suprise me if DT is still on the draft day shopping list. Rogers is still effective but he's also getting older and bigger, and I think you could prolong his career by adding wave players who could give him a blow from time to time. I have no idea what Stroud's contract is, I just know on the radio today they said the Jags are trying to trade him; so I would love for Cincy to get him. Also does anybody on here get The Sporting News Mag. last week they had a one page article on Cincy's defense talking about how bad it is and how the new D. Coordinator is going to have alot of work to do to turn it around. The new D. Coordinator also said on tape Geathers is the D's best player. He is known for running a 3-4 defense as well. The article said if he doesn't switch there D to a 3-4 to see alot of it mixed in this year.
Kazkal
Looks more and more like 3-4 is how they are heading.Geathers - Rogers - Rucker - ?Rivers with the #9?Maybe Geathers is an OLB in the 3-4, not that it won't switch to a 4-3 at times? Reckon Fanene/Peko might be tried at DE if we do go to a 3-4.Rucker as a 3-4 end = baby jesus crysLooks more and more like 3-4 is how they are heading.Geathers - Rogers - Rucker - ?Rivers with the #9?Maybe Geathers is an OLB in the 3-4, not that it won't switch to a 4-3 at times? Reckon Fanene/Peko might be tried at DE if we do go to a 3-4.I don't think this move tells you anything about scheme. They could just as easily line his big butt up next to Peko in a 4-3 and that'd be fine with me. If he's the new NT, that's fine, too.Right. Ultimately, a tackle that can get to the QB - something I've never seen in my admittedly young Bengals fandom - has got to be a good thing. This is where someone now tells me he's useless against the run. He's 340 he's not weak vs run, 2004/2005 he was considered the best DT in the game with the most upside if he get's motivated it's a huge! pick up. mgi
Can I be the first to make an allusion to Mr. Rogers Neighborhood? It is time for Mr. Rogers to ask Big Ben to be his neighbor...(...okay that sucked...)
NJ29
If a move is made to the 3-4, Rogers is most likely the nose, with Geathers as an outside backer. But there are a lot of guys who offer felxability. Peko can play end, Brooks can play either inside or outside backer, Dhani can play inside, and Odell can play inside if he comes back, which I really hope he does. Gholston or Harvey in the first, or Quentin Groves in the second could be sweeeeet.
