BengalszoneBilly
we'll finish better than 17th. Guy's...when you win your division and go to the playoff as the Bengals are going to do, you're NOT gonna land outside of the top 10 teams!! :player:

Scottishbengal
As someone said in a former thread:Goodbye futility, hello mediocrity. This is true - we have so far achieved nothing but going from hopeless to hopeful. I certainly hope we can continue to improve and believe we will.As someone once said "one swallow does not a summer make" (but it can make a girlfriend an ex!) cincykent
I expect the Bengals to be in the top ten by mid-season. I'm not sure if they will finish that way. Their final 5 games are very tough.

jjakq27
Right smack in the middle.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/powerranking Look at it this way...there are 12 playoff teams, so being 17th means we are right there. There is a fine line between the 5th and 6th playoff teams in each conference and probably 5 other teams. I wanna win the division outright which can be done if we take care of Baltimore at least once and hopefully twice. How sweet would that be? jditty47
they won the division last year...and its not like they are top 5. They placed them at the bottom of playoff teams.

Barbarian
I'm thinking that #17 is a bit too high. With all the "problems" that happened in the offseason, #25 would be more appropriate.I hope they prove me wrong.

The not getting any defensive help. The draft sucked. What else do you need??? How do you know this? How can you already determine the draft to have sucked? Because they didn't pick up a big name player? That's way too early to forecast. Isn't the usual time to determine how good a draft is after about a three year period? I didn't think highly of the 2001 draft, and now we all can agree that it was one of the best for the current team.

HoosierCat
Look at it this way...there are 12 playoff teams, so being 17th means we are right there. There is a fine line between the 5th and 6th playoff teams in each conference and probably 5 other teams. Yup. But that "fine line" is harder to get across than the chasm between the 30th-something team and 17. That's what Marvin is talking about in his bengals.com interview when he says he has to find a way to get the team "over the hump." IMHO, it will come down to Carson. Our D should be at least marginally better (it'd be tough to be worse); the question is, can CP engineer a consistently good attack? He certainly has all the pieces: a solid WR corps including a Pro Bowl WR, a semi-proven back with a first round choice behind him, capable TEs and a good FB, and probably the best o-line we've fielded in years.Time to earn that big contract, kid... Kirkendall
We're taking too much into this ESPN poll. It's a group of writers that come with this irrelevant number. They are worthless in my book.
