BengalszoneBilly
Window to Week 7: Will the Bengals come to life? By Clifton Brown - SportingNewsThe bumbling Bengals. How desperate are the Bengals on defense? Coach Marvin Lewis has switched Robert Geathers from defensive end to linebacker on certain plays. Geathers never had played linebacker before, anywhere, at any level. Actually, Lewis would rather play Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher at linebacker, but those guys play for the Bears. Cincinnati (1-4) is the league's biggest disappointment, a team loaded with offensive talent that keeps figuring out how to lose. If the Bengals can't beat the Jets on Sunday, we'll know for sure that Cincinnati is going nowhere.
COB
Clifton Brown can go soak his head. The bumbling Bengals? Eff this guy. If Bellicheat moves players to where they're needed it shows he's an innovator and, of course, a genius. Marvin does it and he's desperate. Time to circle the wagons. The national media is back to their old Bengal bashing ways, but they'll be eating those words. Marvin liked what he saw in the second half of the Chiefs game, and a LOT of our players are back this week. And with games against the Jets, Bills, Ravens, Cardinals, Titans, Rams, Niners, Brown, and Dolphins, this team and season still have potential. Off topic: Levi explained that he had problems last week because he tried to change his game, tried to overpower guys instead of using his quickness and agility, "I got caught up in doing things that I don't do. I got caught up in trying to transform into Whitworth - a bigger guy with a different style. He's long and he's a big guy who can lean and use his girth on people. I'm not that type of guy." Today's Columbus Dispatch. Levi will redeem himself and the Bengals are about to go on a tear.
BengalszoneBilly
Clifton Brown can go soak his head. The bumbling Bengals? Eff this guy.At 1-4 we're lucky that's as far as he went with his adjectives. If Cincinnati loses to the Jets Sunday expect to hear the term "Bungles" far and wide. HairOnFire
Off topic: Levi explained that he had problems last week because he tried to change his game, tried to overpower guys instead of using his quickness and agility.... Jarred Allen was so effective because he consistently beat Levi to the edge, and once there simply pushed Levi's arms down....knocking an already off balance player even further of his base. None of this would have been possible if Levi's footwork had been better, preventing Allen from gaining the edge at will, or if Levi hadn't been guilty of reaching so badly once Allen had gained the advantage. COB
Jarred Allen was so effective because he consistently beat Levi to the edge,Just plain got beaten, huh? Sounds about right. Trying to change his game wasn't the only reason Levi gave for his bad play. The following two paragraphs were also in that article."Jones said the practice time he missed while he rehabbed his surgically repaired knee contributed to his problems. He sat out all of training camp and didn't start the first three games of the season, which left him in a sour state of mind.'I think all of that confusion and all of that distraction was coming from the fact that I know I need these technical issues and these technical kinks to be worked out during that period of time to get ready for the season," he said. "If I wasn't going to be allowed that then, naturally, I wasn't going to be on point when I do get in there.'"So he needs significant work to get up to speed. Then he bitterly complained when Marvin wouldn't just rush him into the starting lineup when he got healthy enough to play. Did Marvin have a personal vendetta against Levi? No. Marvin knows his players. Looks like he left Levi in for the second half of a meaningless preseason game for good reason, and it seems like Levi is starting to see things Marvin's way. That's enough about pedestrian matters like blocking. Now I can focus all my energy on breathlessly awaiting Chad's next pronouncement regarding his celebration strategy.
