duus
Yes, the start to the season is painful, and likely responsible for my state of mind. This game has given me a chance to read through a bunch of the threads ... non-smack threads. And I find various examples of non-Bengal fans using the word 'bungles' throughout posts. I mentioned this in another topic and one of the newer guys likened it to the difference between your brother talking trash with you and a non-brother talking trash. That's how I feel. You have to understand that I hear this garbage day in and day out. I'm tired of it. I love BengalsZone. I love the guys here. But ... I cannot (will not) take this allowance of using the word 'bungles' in any way outside of smack. I don't even care if it is in the signature. It simply should be viewed as smack talk when coming from a non-Bengals fan. I say either move these guys to troll status, or ban permanently. I don't care which. Heck, I'll even accept a single warning, but I want to see some action. Am I thin-skinned? I don't think so ... anything but that living here for 16 years. I don't even care if I am to be considered thin-skinned. I want something done with this. If you think I am that far off-base on this one, then I think I have made my last post. Too unreasonable? I simply think it should be the least we ask of a non-Bengal fan to post outside of smack. Period.

I simply think it should be the least we ask of a non-Bengal fan to post outside of smack. Period. You know duus, I hate the term too. But lets take a little different angle on this. Lets start with the Browns. The deragatory terms I've seen describing them outside of the smack forum by bengal fan forum members are far too many to post here. The Steelers other more colorful deragatory names also have a high total. And to break it down even more, even people who claim themselves as Cincinnati fans have used the term "Bungals".We moderators have to draw a fine line here. A case of weight and balances to decide, and which we are not paid a dime for. I want to keep this place fun for ALL members, but especially the real Bengal fans. I've banned many people. Some too soon. Some too late. I (and my moderator/admin brothers) aren't perfect, but we do our best. All I ask is try posting a mile in my shoes. The deragatory terms I've seen describing them outside of the smack forum by bengal fan forum memebers are far too many to post here. There Steelers other more colorful deragatory names also have a high total. And to break it down even more, even people who claim their selves as Cincinnati fans have used the term "Bungals".We moderators have to draw a fine line here. First, I truly understand the term usage among Bengals fans ... make sense when things are bad! :-) BUT ... the point is when it comes from the outside. Heck, it is a Bengals forum ... if Bengals fans feel like bending 'the rules' and using some stupid term about other teams, who cares ... and even then it should be reminded to the offenders. I just wish the rules were a bit more clear to the outsiders. As I say, I hear these arrogant punks use every term around for every NFL team. Heck, their arrogance alone is the reason I come up with my ridiculous terms for them. Anyway ... although I truly do appreciate your stance, I want to make sure I understand it ... that being that you have no issue with non-Bengals fans using terms like 'bungles' in non-smack threads? If those be the rules, then so be it. I just want to understand that that is the collective decision, and I will respect the decision and move on. I live with it from Steeler fans every day in real life, and I refuse to live with it in the one place that (until most recently) I felt I didn't have to live with it (outside of smack). duus
Patriots get under our skins don't they?Yeah, if by 'Patriots' you mean losing. Is what it is ... just that this topic has been on my mind as I see more and more 'liberties' being given to the outside guys. Seems to me that this is either a Bengals forum or it isn't. There are PLENTY of non-Bengals fans that contribute in a good way. That too is fun. But why let somebody include this term when they admittedly are not Bengals fans? Why? That's what I don't get. I'd let my wife use the term because I know it is within the family, but if my neighbor tries it ... well, trust me, he knows better.

Another Steeler fan permitted to use 'bungles' this and 'bungles' that ... outside of smack. I know your position and in some sense I do appreciate it. Although I think it would be mighty easy to slap the hand of such folks that are admitted Steeler fans, you apparently see my frustration. I hear it all the time ... until recently, I did not have to read it very often in non-smack on BengalsZone. Apparently, that trend is not going to be stopped. It's been fun while it's lasted here for me. Not only am I frustrated and sad on many other levels this September, but I think I am the most sad that we allow folks like SF87 to poke fun at the Bengals ON A BENGALS FORUM. Of all things I have endured in my life in Pittsburgh, to have to lose out on a Bengals fan site to a Steeler fan being allowed to use the term 'bungles' pretty much beats all. As I said ... fun while it lasted.Who Dey!Out.
duus
... oh yeah, if you happen to find yourself in this dirty city, and see someone always wearing Orange and Black, you can feel pretty confident that it is me or someone from my immediate family. When/if that happens, throw out a big old Who Dey! ... always a fan ... always hoping.

BengalszoneBilly
Then I guess guys like SF87 win.Well I'd prefer to think that I'm not being too heavy handed in my job. I would also hope you wouldn't be banned at a Steeler or Browns website by using the many semi-deragatory names we have for them either.
HoosierCat
As I said ... fun while it lasted.Ah. "Fun while it lasted." The once and future epitaph for the average Cincy season, it seems. I hear ya, duus, but when you open a quarter with a 12 men on the field penalty...ain't many other places to go but "bungles."When your QB and No. 1 wideout are screaming at each other on the sideline...when your miked-up franchise DE says "doesn't it seem how our plans never work?" on national TV...when a quarter of the way into the season your head coach is going on about selfishness and declaring changes -- changes! -- will be made...well, okey-doke. Tell ya what, I'll skip "bungles." How about "disaster zone"? or one of my favorite acronyms, FUBAR?I see a team that's about 1 more loss from packing it in this season. And it has to go to Arrowhead in 2 weeks...

When you go to someone else's house (their forum), you don't track mud onto the carpet. I wouldn't go to those sites and say that stuff, I expect to be able to read my favorite forum without having to deal with rude s**t from outsiders.Seems a pretty f**king simple rule to enforce. DC_Bengals_Fan
Was it that jackass Patsies fan in the game thread that put you over the line? Because that guy really was a douche. But SquealerFan has never really gotten on my nerves. Seems OK.I say we fight back by giving some of our more interesting characters assignments on other boards. JoeBong, your assignment is to go to the Steelers board and say dumb things about their team like you do here.
skyline
How can you ban someone for using the term "Bungle"? The national media throws this term around all the time, and right now it's not far from the truth. If they add nothing else to the conversation and are here ONLY to get people riled up, then it's smack. Simply using the term is not. Anyway, I think this thread has served its purpose. If you have any concerns about moderators not enforcing rules, then please handle the matter via PMs.
