combatbengal Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 It looks like the Browns got rid of Frye. He was traded to SeaHawks for a sixth-round draft choice. So, who will we face Sunday? Does it really matter? The Browns signed Ken Dorsey. Could we see Brady this weekend? Everybody here in the Columbus area talked about how bad he was. In the two games that I seen him in (preseaseon) he looked pretty good. Yes it was pre-season and yes he went against 3rd stingers and guys who didn't make teams. But he was better then everybody thought. Now, here's a good question, we got six take aways from the Ravens. How many will we get this weekend? I say three. Dorsey, who played under Chudzinski at the University of Miami, could start Sunday at home against the Cincinnati Bengals or serve as a backup if the Browns want to take another look at Anderson - or start Quinn Quote

redsbengalsbucks Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Quinn proved repeatedly in college that he is a monster QB when playing against lower talent. He also proved many times that when playing equal talent he tends to make bad decisions and push balls into spots that he shouldnt. Quote
CJBestInAFC Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 I think I want to see some Quinn. Anderson and Dorsey both suck and I really don't like ND and the Browns so it would feel real good to see Quinn get pounded by the Bengals D. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 I think the correct answer to the title of this thread is:It doesn't matter.I'm always leery of reading too much into week 1 results, but the only way I can envision the Browns having a shot in this weekend's game is if the Bengals have a letdown or are looking ahead to Seattle. Even then, the Clowns looked so hapless on both sides of the ball that the Bengals still could win. Quote
WhoDey93285 Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 I don't really expect Dorsey to start since he was just signed.I do expect to see Quinn-and I expect him to fail miserably.Quinn was highly overrated in college. He padded his nubmers against the softies of ND's schedule and was absolute crap against the USC's, LSU's, Ohio St's, ect. I expect the same in the NFL. Quote
combatbengal Posted September 11, 2007 Author Report Posted September 11, 2007 So, who would we rather play against? I'd like to play Quinn, because the Brown's fans want to see him in action. I don't want the media saying that the Bengals had an easy game or cry about a soft schedule, etc. Quote
derekshank Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 It's still an in-state rivalry, so you never know. Perhaps the Bengals have a letdown and only win by 20. Quote
membengal Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Well, I am always leery of a divisional road game, even one against the Browns. I don't think Cleveland can play much worse, and is due to be better. Pride alone may see to that. Add in that the Bengals are physically beat up after Monday night, it's a short week, and some emotional letdown is a distinct possibility, and I can construct scenarios whereby this game is close. That said, the Bengals' O should welcome not having to face the Ravens D (although the Browns' D isn't terrible, their O handed Pittsburgh WAY too many short fields), and will likely be sharper in Week 2.If the Bengals bring the same attitude on Sunday that they did on Monday night, it shouldn't matter who starts for Cleveland at qb. But will they bring that same attitude? Don't know. Hard to bank on it, just yet. Quote

I don't want the media saying that the Bengals had an easy game or cry about a soft schedule, etc.I don't know what Crennel is going to do -- to me he's acting like he absolutely has to win now (or he wants to be fired). Based on the makeup of his team, I don't think there's any way they have a winning season, so they should play for the future. They should sit Quinn for a few more weeks until he can deal with the pressure a little better. They should bring him in off the bench a couple of times first, perhaps. That said -- I think they will start him this week and, being a Bengals fan, I hope they do. I don't think he'll be ready and it's rushing him in to a bad situation. Let's face it they had 2 mediocre QBs and Quinn (he doesn't rate as anything yet to me). So, it doesn't matter who they start. Quote

When it comes down to it, Quinn couldn't hack it against strong competition. He won't be able to hack it in the NFL. Quinn was a good QB in college, but not the great quarterback people made him out to be. He continues to be overrated and he'll be an average quarterback in the pros. Quote

One reason why Quinn fell so far, he was not impressive against the better talent in college which makes him a risk of becoming a bust in the NFL. Quote

HairOnFire Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 After watching starting QB Charlie Frye play his waycompletely off the team in a little more than a quarter of work...the Browns have to be shellshocked. Knowing that, I think starting Quinn would give the Browns players a much needed emotional lift, something the might desperately need after their performance against the Steelers. That said, I'd start Anderson. One last point. The Brownies preseason didn't mean any more than that of the Bengals, and Quinn's impressive performance was probably based too much on checkdowns and screen passes that went for huge yardage against players who are now on practice squads or bagging groceries. Make no mistake about it, I'm no Quinn basher, but I'm not convinced he's ready to face 4 quarters of jailbreak blitzing....which is what I'd expect no matter which team he faces. Quote
HoosierCat Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Per the PD Anderson will start.http://blog.cleveland.com/sports/2007/09/r...d_browns_h.html Quote
Ox Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 It doesn't even matter. I have a feeling the Browns are going to get run off the field with or without Quinn. Quote
The Brew Man Posted September 11, 2007 Report Posted September 11, 2007 Since Crennell has been fairly horrid as coach, and the wrong move would be to throw Quinn to the wolves, I would not be shocked if he did just that.... Quote

redsfan2 Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 I'd hate to see them start Quinn ...... or really even put him in for that matter. You look around, and its the guys who get to watch for a year who do better. This early in the season I think they would be risking losing more than they would have to gain.Having said that ...... I remember our first game against them last year. We won the game and lost what ..... 4 starters ?????? Can't afford too many wins like that. I'm way more intereted in seeing our guys come out of this one w/o any dents or dings than anything else. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Having said that ...... I remember our first game against them last year. I'm getting dizzy just thinking about it! Quote
ArmyBengal Posted September 12, 2007 Report Posted September 12, 2007 Before finding out Anderson was going to get the start, I would have expected them to start him. There is no way you can justify Dorsey getting the start just coming in and Quinn would get lit the F*ck up... I won't get to bashing on Quinn either because the fact is, no one really knows what he may or may not do.That being said, does it really matter ?? Even with some sort of letdown, the Bengals win this one...WHODEY !!! Quote
