I've been pretty non-chalant about the whole pre-season performance thing.

Countdown until Kid Steakhouse responds: Ten, nine, eight, seven...Sheesh, even the article was a backhanded compliment. I think you get spoiled having a good center on your team. Even when EG was first thrown in there, I was never thinking 'man, this kid is horrible.' Center takes time to learn, and I thought he held his own from day 1.I think you could make a very good case, at this point, that C is the Oline position to worry least about. redsbengalsbucks
I have been surprised by Bluto's preseason. He has actually become an average NFL center, much better than last season. He is reading and making good calls on the line and he has been able to hold his own without the help from other linemen that became a staple of last seasons line.I still believe that the most solid part of the o-line is the probowl tandem of Willie and Levi, they will both start game 1 as long as no injury happens between than and now. Veteran linemen do not need many snaps to get ready for a season.
ShulaSteakhouse
What do you base Guy-chick's performance on exactly? He gave up a sack Monday night and Whitworth basically blamed his two false starts on Guy-chicks silent count. Bluto love fest must stop. That said, I'll stop unless he screws up or plays well, because the Bengals' will never sign a top center or guard or pay for them. membengal
It's hard for me to be optimistic at the moment.See, I was never worried about the o-line. They'll get it together. Levi and Willie will play. Ghuicac will be fine. He already is.Seeing the same defense with the same personnel make the same mistakes leading to the same problems? THAT's what has me so irritable. Levi and Willie will play. Ghuicac will be fine. He already is.Seeing the same defense with the same personnel make the same mistakes leading to the same problems? THAT's what has me so irritable.Well, look at it this way: while the defense does indeed seem destined to suck money balls again this season...it sucked money balls last season, too. And while the offense is going into the season already banged up and depleted by injury and suspension...it spent most of last season even more banged and more depleted by injury and suspension. And despite all that, the Bengals still came within a missed kick here, a penalty call there...oh, you know the deal...of making the postseason. And that was with a much tougher sked then they face this season. So, despite everything, yeah, there's room for optimism, at least as far as making the playoffs is concerned. After that? Well, they'd have to pull an '06 Colts and pull a defense out of their a$$es late in the season to stand a chance there. I don't think thats likely but am willing to cross that bridge when and if we come to it.

I don't think thats likely but am willing to cross that bridge when and if we come to it.That's the spirit HC, now give me a "Who Dey"!!!!The problem with our defense have been well documented, we can't get the top tier FA's to sign here for various reasons and our top defensive draft picks are having trouble staying on the field. When that is the case we to do a Rumsfeld and go to war with what we have not with what we want, wait did I just reference the Lord of Darkness, oh well..Anyway, I think our guys are talented enough to put together a good defense, good enough to get us into the playoffs. Call me crazy but I don't want to believe that the team I support is going to suck before they have actually played any games to prove that they will suck. Yes, they have had some bad practices which can be a cause for concern but until they go out on a Sunday completely lay an egg I will have to wait before I throw them under a bus. He simply acknowledged his own inexperience with the silent count. B - I'd bet my last paycheck Bluto wasn't blamed for the only interior sack surrendered. Far more likely the damning finger was pointed at the Dancing Bear.C - With very few exceptions Palmer has worked within a textbook pocket. Sacks and pressures have overwhelmingly come from the edges where the backup tackles are working.

GregCook
From what we've seen in the pre-season, the Bengals could go 12-4 or 4-12. There is simply nothing in the pre-season that tells us anything other than who is hurt and not playing. Time is better spent thinking about what to cook this season, which new beers to try and new excuses for dodging my Sunday ToDos list (STD's).Along those lines, I recommend Fat Tire 1554 beer and slow cooking brats, andully's and fresh sauerkraut. I've yet to find a better excuse for laziness on Sunday than "I'm too drunk for that".
